
Stephanie J. Block
(Elphaba) is thrilled to move from one Oz to the other. She comes to Wicked after a year long run in the hit Broadway musical The Boy from Oz . Her portrayal of Liza Minnelli opposite Hugh Jackman as Peter Allen earned Ms. Block acceptance and acclaim from audiences and critics alike. Other credits: Wicked (premier opening/San Francisco); Funny Girl; Crazy for You (2002 Ovation Award nominee-Best Actress); Oliver! (2001 Critics' Award-Best Actress); James Joyce's The Dead (Ahmanson and Kennedy Theater); The Grass Harp (Pasadena Playhouse); Bells Are Ringing (Reprise!) and I Love a Piano (The Denver Center). She is a proud member of the Los Angeles Musical Theater Guild. Her voice can be heard on the original cast recording of The Boy from Oz as well as numerous commercial jingles including the singing voice of Barbie. Stephanie J. Block comes to Broadway and the cast of The Boy From Oz straight from San Francisco, where she premiered Wicked covering the title role of the Wicked Witch of the West.

As a native Californian, Stephanie has shared her talents with West Coast audiences since she was 11-years-old. Her career has taken her to the corners of the world and allowed her to play a range of characters and personalities. She has entertained royalty and underprivileged children alike and her passion for the arts only increases. She lends her time teaching musical theatre to future artists. Stephanie attributes her talents and success to God for all his grace, her family for their unconditional love and support, her friends for being her biggest fans, and her teacher and mentor, Jill Goodsell, for creating opportunities and for giving her the strength and endurance to turn those opportunities into reality.
