Who do you guys think has the best NGD? Based on what I've seen/heard, Shoshana's is phenomenol and (don't hate me!:mrgreen: ) is better, in my opinon, than even Idina's, which is saying al ot. I may be just a tad bit bias because Sho was my first Elphie, but did you see her on Martha! WOW!

I listened to Ana sing NGD, but the audio quality was terrible! It is better on the Full Chicago Video.

steph's is amazing. seriously. when she was done singing in st. louis people gave her a standing ovation. i haven't ever been to a show where that has happened.

Idina's my favorite Elphaba, but I have to go with Sho on this- she just totally owns that song, it's amazing.

Steph's got my vote for favorite everything! I would LOVE to hear Maria sometime though. She is a fun person to get to know! I am tempted to go to Cinncinatti just to see her. (Of course if Steph is still there I'll be going to see her as well.... :mrgreen: )

I listen to her sing it on Martha every day and I get chills every time. She totally owns NGD. I was forced to turn off Ana and SJB partway through and flip to Sho...then I watched Idina.

While I agree that Sho's performance on Martha Stewart's show was absolutely amazing (if you can find it online, watch it!), IMO, this is Steph's signature song from the show. When I saw it, her performance was (as Christa said--a long time ago!) heartwrenching through most of the song. Her Elphaba was SUFFERING and torn. When she paced, it was like watching a caged tiger; I had the sense that her emotions were just baaarely under control. And then towards the end, with "Let all Oz be agreed; I'm WICKED through and through"--she was truly SCARY. Nearly two years later, this is the song I remember best from her performance; it far outstripped "Defying Gravity" for me.

I love all the actresses NGD. Each one brings somin new so its a bit hard, but if I had to, I would pick Idina. Shoshana brings alot to the table with her riffs and power, but this song can go a long way without riffs. And Idina proved it, everytime I saw her sing it, she sang as Elphaba, not as Idina singing about how Elphaba's feeling. LIke in the part
"Nessa, Doctor Dillamond, Fiyero....FIYEROOOOOO!!!!" most Elphaba's just recite the name, and when they step foward to do "FiyeroooOo!" they jsut step foward, but Idina lunges foward, throws her whole body into and has these facial expressions like she wants to kill someone. I dont know if that made sense lol

okay.. just watched a video of SJB singing it and.. i kept forgetting to breathe.. yeah.. she's my favorite NGD singer.. she would sound amazing in the deleted verse..

no julia murney? she's the most frightening emotionally charged that i've seen, with ana gasteyer coming in a close second

I always thought Julia is the best in this song.. Until I saw SJB. She owns this song in my opinion.

I love Idina, but I think Kerry Ellis has the best NGD
Her "again" is awesome and she puts lots of emotion into the song

Overall for NGD, I vote Shoshana Bean. IMO she has THEE best "No Good Dead" by far, hands down, bar none...

What a long way the show has come...

Eden. I never get bored during the song if she sings it. Honestly, her emotion in that song is just incredible and of course those riffs!

Kerry/Eden are tied for me lol...there's something about Kerry's that makes me get chills..her "ic-EE cold eyee" is just wow..and Eden's is fierce..when I heard her do that "supply-YYYY" and "Fiyero-OOO!" riff, I almost fell off the seat lol..

aside from them, I have to say Sho and Steph do wonderfully with this song too

This is so old, the results are hardly relevant anymore. Personally, I like Shoshana and Eden. Kerry and Idina are up there. (I for some reason can't get enough of Idina's chanting)

I pick Eden. Maybe I'm biased cause she was the first Elphaba I saw, but still, even after I've seen others, she's still my favorite. I think she rocks the face off of that song. (and others too )

I've only seen Eden's Elphie live, so I'll simply say that for me NGD is her crowning moment of ultimate glory on stage. Even on a night when she's not feeling well or protecting her voice, she never seems to fail with NGD. Her layers upon layers of emotions are astonishing, which means that riffs or no (and Eden does have spine-chilling riffs!) you are completely mesmerized by her performance.

From the little I've seen of others (ahem) I really like Stephanie's version of NGD as well. Again, for me it's about the emotional depth and complexity coming through the performance. Eden and Steph have it in spades, however they are each very different. Steph seems much darker over all. Eden is... well, extremely complex. It's hard to explain.

Definetly Kerry, espeically after last Saturday

Well, I've only seen Kerry live, but I'be seen extracts from most of the others, and I've got to say that Kerry is still my favourite ! She gives me chills with that song, it's probably her best ! But I've got to say that Willemijn comes as a close second, she sang a very powerful version as well !

I love Julia Murney's completely, but SJB does the best "Fiyero where are you?", it's so desperate, and Eden's "Nessa...Dr Dilliamond...Fiyero...Fiyero!" is the best. But then there's just something about Idina thats brilliant. Kerry Ellis also rates highly.
