Post bloopers that you have seen in Wicked. They can be ad-libs, missing set pieces, ect...
One several occasions, Glinda's bubble has had malfunctions if which the actress must improvise. Also, several Glinda's have dropped their purse during One Short Day. One time Kristin completely forgot her line in DTL so she said to Boq "See that girl...there...go ask her to dance..." Then she just shooed him away. Once during Popular, Kristin's bed didn't come out. So Kristin went over to Elphaba's bed and said "Where's my bed?" and Idina said something like "I don't know-- want to share with me?" So they sat on one bed for a little, and finally, Kristin's bed came out but was apparently stuck downstage. So she looks over-- goes "There it is!" danced over to it, jumped on, and then on her stomach, made a swimming movement as the bed started to move to its place, so that it looked like she and the bed were swimming into place. Then at the end of the song, her shoes came out and she said,"Finally, my shoes are here!!" Once Norbert fell and he said, That was smooth."
Feel free to contibute.

I don't think i've seen any major bloopers. but in once during Defying Gravity Idina had this huge coughing fit and she was having a really hard time trying to act like she was ok. i felt bad for her. :-(

Just before or after the Tony's (I can't remember) Kristin started singing the lyrics of No One Mourns the Wicked that had been changed to introduce Hugh at the Tonys during Wicked, so she improvised a bit.
There are always problems with the flower.
Also with the rope, sometimes it hits the Glinda actress when it swings back.
Megan Hilty once lost control of her wand when she was twirling it and it went flying in to the pit I think.
The infamous Sho running to far out during her entrance at Shiz and falling of the stage.
There is soo much, as to be expected in live theatre, which I love so much.

I saw a few small bloopers live
*Megan said "Really great speakers" instead of "speically great communicators" I was like the only one who noticed.
*Robb came onstage a lil to early in WWotE so Michelle had to run to sit back down
*Megan started to goofed up and said, "They're...um.. I'm so bad a giving directions
*Emily during popular looks at all the shoes and says, "I love my shoes!" and jumps up and down.

Hehe Kendra was choking on the bubbles when she came out at the beginning of No One Mourns The Wicked in the 10/21 show of it in Dallas, which is when I went.

Idina once sang "He's the girl he chose." I started cracking up!

sho's hat was shalling off during defying gravity when i saw her. she was bumping it with her broom. also only one side of the curtains under her opened up so the ensemble was still running into place as they were singing. um....when megan threw the hat at sho in the fight scene she didn't catch it, then when she picked it back up she dropped it again.

On Cheno's last day, during One Short Day, Idina said "Stay with me..." instead of "come with me" she giggled slightly and said "I'll miss you..." And then they both mumbled a little and there was silence. Finally Idina said, "Let's get on to the Emerald City!"
Elphaba/Belle
Dec 30 2005, 09:21 PM
Oh yeah that line was
Idina:"Stay with me. Oz won't be the same without you."
Audience:"Awww"
Idina: "You know what? Let's go to the Emerald City!"
Kristin:"Let's go shopping!"

i loved that part. it was so funny. then when they got on stage and the ensemble started their entrances kristin mumbled something.

No, I don't think she mumbled anything, she was just crying.

I have seen that too. It's one of those touching moments when Kristen just had a hard time when it came to her lines, when, I guess, the idea of the last show hit her. Idina had to improvise a little because Kristen was just too emotional at the moment to say her next line. An understandable situation.
The whole "Unexamined Life" sequence is good for moments also, only because of Kristen and Norbert obviously trying to make each other break up and also the "Popular" sequence when Kristen goes totally off script.

One time, Jenna played Elphaba and didn't defy gravity. It was her first performance as Elphaba and didn't know what to do. I wasn't there, but she just sang the last part without ever going into the air.
wickedfreak17
Dec 30 2005, 11:19 PM
if that ever happened when i was at the show i would rush the stage and beat up the tech crew, lol. but it was her fault though. she didn't hit the lever right and therefor the computer wouldn't let the arm of the lift start to rise. simple mistake. she was probably really nervous considering it was her first time playing elphaba.

is there a clip of kristen last day when idina said that cause i would love to see it
wickedfreak17
Dec 30 2005, 11:42 PM
yeah. on www.video.google.com type in kristin's last, or wicked, then find one that says part one.
jenna must've been so upset after she forgot to push the lever! how awful that that happened on her first performance!

When I saw it, the beds came on just fine before Popular.
But.....Glinda's decided it wouldn't go off. There was a bed in the classroom!
Bill Youmans came on and directly said,"Well, I've heard of sleeping in class, but this is ridiculus!"

sometimes adlibs/ improvs can be better than the script. like when glinda's bubble broke in LA, maria eberline was playing elphaba that night and instead of the like "Well we can't all come and go by bubble!" she changed it to "Well we can't all come and go by bubble....and apparently NEITHER CAN YOU!"

the bubble didn't go back up at the end of nomtw. so they closed the curtain for about 15 minutes and had to manually crank it back up into the flyspace. they finished the song and the bubble wasn't used for the rest of the show.

In one of those interviews that I have seen of Kristen and Idina promoting the musical when it debuted, Kristen talked about how, one night, the bubble machine malfunctioned and all the bubble juice poured all over her face.

Yes yes, that was on A&E's Breakfast with the Arts.
This isn't for the Broadway production, but when I saw the OTC in Houston Steph got caught up backstage and missed her cue for "One Short Day." Kendra had to sing, "There are buildings tall as Quoxwood trees/dress salons..." by herself until Steph barged out and sang, "LIBRARIES!" Truth be told, it went by so fast that no one really noticed, but I wondered why Kendra was out there by herself :ha:!

One time Ana was still putting on her hat when she came out for OSD. It is a super fast costume change!
wickedfreak17
Dec 31 2005, 10:32 PM
maria said that all the costumes have zippers to go faster. they can't use buttons or velcrow.
Elphaba/Belle
Dec 31 2005, 10:42 PM
Velcrow seems like it might go faster. I had a 15 second costume change once, I had to go from a dress into a pair of pants and a shirt, and I found the zippers utterley annoying. One night my zipper got caught, and I almost didn't make the next scene. Just my opinion.
wickedfreak17
Dec 31 2005, 11:29 PM
susan hilferty tried velcrow but it wouldn't stay. it kept coming undone. especially on elphies costume during defying gravity. so they ended up using zippers.

I loved when Cheno at the part where she gets the hat at the end, she was bawling so much...
Or JLT on Idina's last day "Fellow Ozians...I LOVE IDINA MENZEL."
and then Idina saying "I wish Glinda could know, and Joey says "I think she does" HAHA!
Or the guy filming Cheno's last day, when Glinda first arrives, with thunderous appalause, he turns to the person next to him and explains "Everyone love Glinda"

personally i'd be a little ticked off if there were any big bloopers. it would ruin my experience. luckily when i saw Riverdance (which, before Wicked was at the Gershwin Theatre) and other Broadway shows absolutely nothing went wrong. i'm a bit picky so if i saw Wicked and noticed a big mistake i would be mad. it might make the show more interesting. i don't know.

Acting is very hard. Stuff always goes wrong. They can't help it if there is a technical malfunction. If they forget a line, the show must go on, its not a big deal. The actors try their hardest to make it perfect, but humars are bot perfect.

I thought of one more thing. This has never happened, but what if Glinda messed up the line, "It's really ah, sharp! Don't ya think? Ya know black, is this years pink. You deserve each other this hat and you. You're both so, smart! You deserve each other, so here out of the goodness of my heart."
And instead said, "It's really ah, SMART! Don't ya think? Ya know black, is this years pink. You deserve each other this hat and you. You're both so, SHARP! You deserve each other, so here out of the goodness of my HARP."
That would be so funny, I can see Cheno doing a little thing pretending to play the harp. LOL!

HAHA, I can totally see her doing that! Cheno is so good at ad libbing! :ha:

Yeah, this story is actually from my own experience. One time I was walking around my house singing and I totally did that. I just started pretending to play the harp. Thank goodness no one was around to see me do that. My family already thinks I'm crazy. LOL!

That would have been hilarious to see. I would love to see one day, where the OBC had been doing a practice or whatever, and they let the cast sing and say whatever they wanted at random moments. That would be priceless.
