ok so i went to see Wicked for the second time yesterday, and it was amazing! i got the tickets the day before and we got row J in the dead center.(the people sitting next to me also got the tickets the night before) I saw Brandi Chavonne Massey playing Elphaba and Tiffany Haas as Nessa.(i was kinda dissapointed at first cause i wanted to see Eden and Jenna)this is my first review so i hope its good:
so before the show I went to the souvenier stand and bout the I <3 Oz t shirt and the Grimmerie(which I read the whole thing last night)also when we were in our seats, I heard a screamy-high-operay note coming from behind the curtain. my mom was like omg what is that and i said it was Kate warming up.

NOMTW- When Kate came down in her bubble i started clapping and no one else was but then everyone else joined in. this was my first time seeing her and she was awesome! And during this song i noticed that the one who plays Nessa(Tiffany Haas yesterday) goes off right as DOS starts. so she has a quick change.And i still dont get when they take the baby out everyone is laughing. I think it is very sad how the father rejects her.

DOS- again, when Brandi came out i started clapping and a couple of other people did. I love it how Kate does the up and down thing with her voice on "oooooooooooooooooooold" everyone was laughing.

TWAI- wow. Brandi can really sing. she did the Eden thing on "things i've never felt" and she did it ok. I like the way Brandi talks onstage also. she has a very "broadway" kind of stage speaking voice.

WITF- Kate and Brandi's voices sound pretty good together. I really liked how she did the "booty bump" thing to Kate as she came through the crowd.

SB- Brandi had a really good expression during this. she seemed like she was really concerned about what was happening. and Sean was great too.(lol hes awesome)

DTL- first off, when Robb(Boq) said "you're touching me" and fell down the stairs, he looked like his body was made out of Jello. I mean how does he do that? I meant to ask him at the SD but 4got. anyways Derricks voice is ok, not the best but i liked it. and i never noticed how small the stairs are in the ozdust ballroom. It always bring tears to my eyes when Elphaba is standing there dancing alone.

Popular- OMG Kate is hysterical! she plays so much of a dumb blond its scary. after "little ways to flirt and flounce" she SCREAMED! it was sooo funny and freaky. also on the "lala" part she danced really funny. and my mom pointed out to me how skinny Kate is especially in that dress and i agree.

INTG-( in the classroom scene before that when Brandi was flipping her hair she hit Derrick in the face and he started doing it. but then when she went to sit down since she had flipped her hair so hard she made sure the flower was still there but it was falling out so she took it off and put it in her bag) Usually when Fiyero says "or maybe it scratched me or something" people laugh. but not this time i think cause they couldnt hear Elphie say " maybe it scratched you or something" but anyway this song was pretty good. she didnt go as low as usual on the last part but it was ok.

OSD- i never actually noticed how intricate(sp.?) the costumes are untill now. I love all the colors and lights. this is always one of my fav scenes i dont know why.

SM- I love David! he's a great wizard and a great singer.

when he is talking to Elphie before DG about what he is really doing Brandi was so good with looking like she was really pissed off.

DG- OMGOMGOMG! that ending is OUTSTANDING!! i mean when Brandi does the "ahhhh" part, if she had a riffing contest with Shoshana on that part she would win. (and thats hard to do) I have to say thats one of the best Defying Gravitys i have ever seen. And also, Carol Kane's voice is soooooo scary! when she said "Wicked Witch!" i was like "i dont wanna see it when that woman is really mad!" lol.

TG- In this Kate reminded me soooo much of Kristin Chenoweth. not only by the waay she looked but how she sang it. I really liked it.

WWOTE- I have to say Tiffany is pretty good. especially on the "we deserve eachother" part. At the beginning when Elphie is in the dresser Brandi's voice is freaky and i think it really scared Tiffany cause she like, jumped as if she wasn’t acting.

Wonderful- again, I love David Garrison! And I think they added some lines to the end of Wonderful from the last time I saw it. I dunno thought cause I didn’t really pay attention last time. I just know that it is kinda diff from the recording.

INTGR- I liked the way Kate sang this. It looked like she was really sad. And she did the higher note at the end.

ALYAM- Hot hot hot! Especially the kiss in the middle. I like their voices together. They had very good chemistry on stage. You could feel that they really loved eachother. And it is so heartbreaking when Elphie says “ I wish I could be beautiful for you.”

Catfight Scene- When Brandi came in, shes supposed to say “ what a touching display of grief…” well she said “ what a Di-“ and then she stopped and said “-sgusting display…” and then when Kate slapped her , her hat fell off! Then when she put it back on, the hat mic was on, so it made a scratchy noise and everyone was laughing and thought it was a sound effect of her putting her hat back on. ( at least that’s what my mom thought)

Awesome review! Too bad Jenna was out :-( But it sounds like you had a great time! I wish I could see Brandi perform now, judging from your review, she sounds really great!!! Can't wait for the SD story! :mrgreen:

Wow. I wish someone caught this on tape/audio. :mrgreen: I thought she did amazing on Rosie's cruise, and she has improved SO much since her first and second performances back in October. Good for her.

I'm SO jealous that you got to see Tiffany. Not that I don't love Jenna, because I absolutely do, but Tiffany is just the sweetest person ever. I'm glad she did well! And Brandi's definitely improved a lot. I saw the Rosie cruise performance also, and could hardly believe how amazing it was. Great review. Definitely look forward to the SD part!!

Yeah, this was the matinee show, wasn't it? My friends went and told me about all the things you mentioned as well (the hat falling off, the "disgusting display of grief", etc.) because they went to this show.

Haha I find it funny when people risk filming and don't release it... Oh well, I can't afford another DVD anyway.

I saw this show too! And only a few rows in front of you, also center! Some of my thoughts on the show..



She's so loud, I sat in the last row of the theater once, rear mezz, and I still heard her!



They're laughing because its a funny thought, a baby being green. The laughter quickly dies down when the fater says, "Take it away."



Sean leaves today along with Robb



I dont think it was falling out, all Elphabas take it out because she doesnt want Fiyero to think shes trying to be someone else (or at least thats what I think) and so shes not wearing it for INTG



I heard her say that line, not sure why ppl didn't laugh, maybe because Derrick was playing it very seriously. I didn't hear her change anything so that she didnt go low at the end?

I thought it was a great cover up for her mix up of words! During DTL instead of saying "Listen Galinda, my sister and I were talking about you just now" She said "Glisten.. pause (as if thinking, should I say Galinda now that I said glisten? lol) my sister and I were talking about you just now."



That was great, because she caught the hat on its way down, fast reflexes! And she did a little attitude after she put it back on, by touching her hat and moving it, sorta saying "bring it yo"

I'm sad that Robb and Sean have left! At least I got to see them though. Does anyone know who is replacing Sean as Doctor Dillamond and the Witch's Father? Awesome review! Brandi has such an amazingly powerful voice, especially in the Defying Gravity finale! You're lucky you got to see her!

I am VERY jealous that you got to see Tiffany! She is a good friend of mine and I would LOVE to see her. I couldn't get a ticket the last time she let me know she was on. Someday!

According to someone on BWW who heard it from Sean, Steven Skybell from the Chicago production is replacing Sean.

"Wicked" recycling.. big suprise.

Sean is a GREAT Dr. Dillamond. I never liked "Something Bad" till he sang it.

(BTW: He told us his contract is up until the play is done.)

Yep!!! Steven Skybell is going to be taking over Dr. Dillamond. I'm really excited! I actually knew back in April, when Steven came to my show at school and we were discussing Wicked, haha.

I am also going to miss Sean terribly, not only because he is SO great onstage, but he is just SO incredibly sweet. Both times I met him.

I am really going to miss Robb and Sean They were both amazing and sweet.

I didn't know Steven would be taking over for Sean! I've missed him in Chicago... he's fantastic, you guys.

here's the rest:

NGD- I think that Brandi kinda sounded like Sho in some parts. and when she said "fiyeroooo" the second time, she went down on her knee and it looked like she was melting.

MOTWH- it was ok. i dont really pay attention to this. again, carol's voice is SCARY! lol

FG- this part always makes me cry i loved it. and when she melted Kate had this really sad look on her face.

Finale- i dont know if it was me but i think i saw kate kinda crying. i dunno why maybe it was just her sparkles. But i looove this song. It was great.

ok SD: so we went out and we were the second people there! The first one to come out was Tiffany. We got her autoraph and pics. she was so nice.
then i saw Katie Adams walk in and out of the SD. lol like she was looking for something.
Then, Robb came out. He is sooo cute and nice. I asked him if the silver was hard to get off his face and he said " no, i just take a shower and it comes off.
Then Brandi came out and i told her how awesome she was. when she signed my playbill i said " look i have green nails too" and she was like" cool, we're Elphie twins!" lmao.and she's REALLY tall.
Then Sean came out and he was really nice also. I heard him say that the next day was his and Robbs last. im gonna miss them.
Then a guy came out and said that no one else was gonna come out which made me sad cause i wanted to meet Kate. Oh well. Here are some pics!:
