I have seen Wicked, and always wondered, what is the thing Elphaba is wearing in Defying Gravity?

That. It can't be her dress... she would die trying to wear it... Anyone know specifically?

go to my site....www.freewebs.com/musicalwicked then go to behind the scenes info. it will give you everything. if that doesn't work go to the links page then under videos go to defying gravity demonstration.

I think it's a BIG piece of material that drapes over the lift that lifts Elphie into the air.

Do you mean her cape?? she is also standing on a platform that is covered by a longer dress than she is wearing. the cape is behind it. the cape covers the hydrolic (i don't know if i spelled it right) lift.

It's a false skirt attached to the hydraulic lift that makes her "defy gravity."
Where is my friendly link-to-video-of-Steph-demonstrating-the-lift person when I need her/him!?

I get the long skirt, but not why they attach the curtains to her dress to be like uber long. It looks SO amazing, and I don't want it to go away, I just don't understand it!

WOW! I haven't actually seen that video clip before! Being a techie, I find that seriously interesting *must get backstage tour when it gets to London!*

It covers up all the mechanical stuff. The lift is very large, so it has to be covered up.

i just don't know what all those layery things are. i thought it was one gaint telescoping pole thing. but it's all those bar things. i don't know.
The lift (on broadway at least) is a cherry picker. She stands on the end of it and it rises up.
(No I didn't forget to sign in I just really need to stop being lazy and register already)

nope. it's a cherry picker-like lift. not a cherry picker. it's the same thing for both production basicly. one just moves faster than the other.
