I'm sure by now most of you know Shoshana left yesterday's matinee show after 'Popular'. Just to clarify something, Shoshana isn't sick, her vocal chords are strained.

Poor Shoshana
No wonder, with her riffing... at least now she'll have some time to rest up and get better before she starts her climb up the Billboard charts  !

Yeah if she kept on straining her voice like she did she wouldn't be able to sing at all. It's sad she is leaving but I'm glad she is leaving for a good reason.

I'm not sure why you would write something like that on your first post. I don't think I want to welcome you anymore.

i was wondering i am a fairly "new" Wicked fan what is the story of Idina? I know she hurt or something but what happened? and what is the thing about the red tracksuit. I recently heard an interview with Steph J. Block and she was injured right before opening night in Toronto with a stunt they were trying to add in. Also what is the curse?

Well, with Idina, she was supposed to "melt", but the trap door descended before she got on. So when she backed up, she fell quite a few feet.
there's an aud where Idina tells exactly what happened

Riffing cannot hurt the voice. Lots of things can hurt vocal chords, but that's not it. If it's a technique issue, it's probably how crunched her "ee" vowels are. It could just be fatigue too. I would guess it's tension from singing, if you look at clips in order of how long she's been in Wicked, her face gets more scrunched as she sings, and she sounds more an more nasal. She could've also has numerous things happen without a cold. I'm sorry to hear that she couldn't continue her last performance. How was Saycon, though?

Sadness. She was the only Elphaba I liked after Idina.

I wish I could have seen her live.
