I'm hoping this is the right place to post this. I thought also of the General Talk thread. But since this is about Wicked and Broadway...what other place the the musical section? I told a few people about this, but this is the full story with details.

So this past Saturday I was at my cousins wedding. I was talking to my great uncle Carl about how I want to be on Broadway. Either performing on stage (most likely) or playing my Clarinets in the pit orchestra (my backup) His daughter, Diane, is a music theatre teacher in NYC and she overheard how I want to be on Broadway. She asked where I want to go and I told her either the Hartt School or Tisch. She told me about each and we discussed a lot of things. Then I told her how my main/life goal is to land the role of Elphaba in Wicked. Either on Broadway, Chicago, Tour, LA or London. I personally would love to be in the Broadway production.

(these quotes are as I remember them. But it's the jist of it)

So she laughed and replied saying "Oh Wicked! Yes I remember, hard work but worth it."

I said "You ofcourse know it's still running? What do you mean 'remember'?"

She replied "Working in it. It was great, but very challenging. A lot of laughs. It was all I focused on as we got to opening on Broadway"

My heart stopped for-as it felt-forever. My eyes grew wide. "You-worked-on-Wicked?!?!?!?" My dad starts laughing as I go and give her a 'zombie' hug as my dad called it and I said to her "I LOVE YOU". She laughed and simled at me. I went on, "So you meant to say you like were part of the original production?!"

She replied, "Yes, Amber. I helped do directing, coreograph(sp?), design and just in general work on Wicked. Honey, this is what I do for a living! I know I'm a teacher, but I do work as staff and in productions, dearie. You know my son Tommy was on Broadway for how many years, what do ya think I did then? And you know how many performers I teach within their musical or play they're currently in?"

I started to hypervenalate. Then I tell her how much I want to be in Wicked and how it's changed my life. Then she says this:

"You know Idina Menzel?" she asks.

I'm like 'UH YEAH! She's my idol for performing! I call her my Broadway God. Her voicie is just gah, so amazing!!"

She says this all normally, too, acting as if's not a big deal, "Yeah, she's a great girl! I worked with her personally with dance and the show. We worked on her voice and all. Ya know, even though she's amazing, she has trouble finding jobs too on Broadway."

I start really going insane here. "You like worked with her!??1 You know her personally?!?! And yeah I know, anyone has trouble...even if your one of the best. OMSJB you know her?!? YOU KNOW HER!"

She's laughing at me cause I was so happy. I could have really melted. My blood must have been boiling with excitment, "YES! You don't believe me do you? The girls a sweetheart. I'll see if I can get a hold of her when I get home after the wedding. Hey, you should come and stay with me for a while in NYC. I'll show ya around, get ya to meet the cast. You can meet my students. I can most likely get us back in Wicked and you can hang out there. Everyone is great there. But I could show ya around and everything, help ya out with your voice, sing Wicked and what ever else ya like. And I'll try and get a hold of Idina. I can get her # through the staff and all. And I'll see when's she's coming back to America. you'd really like her...well more then you do."

I'm just about have dead right now. "You mean....like meet? LIKE MEET?!?!??!?! OMG, and Wicked!?!?1 Holy Megan Hilty! Diane you are now my offical favorite cousin ever!"

"You'd have a blast! You can meet the rest of the family while you're up there. you know a bunch of your cousins are on Broadway? I know your grandmother's must of told you that."

"Well yeah! but like, I've heard. I'd love to meet everyone! I'm calling you like soon after the wedding."

My dad's standing there laughing. "I can't believe this. Diane, why are you telling her this? I'm never gonna hear the end of it! I already have those sings burned in my memory *he sings* Pop-u-lar! you're gonna be POPULAR! *end singing* "All I hear is 'Idina, I love Idina! She's amazing1 I want to meet her one day! I love Idina! you know she's the best Elphie? She is Elphie! Dad don't laugh at me, it's true! Dad, when I'm on Broadway all greenified, you can't laugh at me like you usually do. I'll Defy Gravity! I'm not going to mention you when I win a Tony! blah blah blah' Now my cousin has told my obsessed daugther she worked in Wicked and she knows her idol. Ofcourse my luck. Oh Amber, you such a silly girl!"

We all laugh, and my legs go numb. My uncle Carl comes in as I'm talking to Diane about how I'm preparing for my future, training, etc. My great uncle Carl says 'Well, I see Amber's going to shack up with you, Diane? Good, get her all trained up. She's got the desire, now get her to work! The Clocks ticking. Amber, you need to stay visit us soon and we can set this all up."

I'm going nuts. I start laughing b/c it seemed so unreal. BTW, my laugh is a cackle....a real cackle. I can't make myself cackle, though. I guess cause it's just how I laughed. My dad then goes..."Ugh, I should of known...all those years. From when you started watching WoO at 2 months old till now, I should of known when you acted out the wicked Witch and Dorothy, you'd become one of them. Hell, you sure have a real cackle for it. There's no faking that one. When you do it on stage, think of me singing Popualr in that pink dress Cheno wears. Thatll sure make you laugh"

I burst out cackling.....my dad laughs and so does everyone else. Then Diane, her husband Rick, and my great Uncle Carl and his wife Marie all say goodvye and they'll be intouch. I give them all a hug and wave goodbye. I sit down, laughing at all that just happened. (this was in the span of like 10 minutesor so)

My dad's like 'Well, I ahve a huge feeling one of your dreams is going to come true. I thought you knew Diane was a music threatre teacher?"

I look up "Uh NO. you forgot to mention that small detail. I knew we have cousins on Bway, but you never told me your cousin teaches and works in the business! thanks alot! Ahahaha, I'm just kidding. At least I know!"

My dad laughs "Yeah, now we can kick you out of the house to live with diane. I know you wouldn't mind."

"UH NO!! Heck. pack up my stuff when we get home!"

My mom comes out from the banquet room asking why I was laughing and we tell her the story. She's like OMGNO, you can't be serious. Wow.

So yeah, Diane teaches a ton of performers. She knows like all the OBC and everything. Wow, I couldn't be happier. she told me a ton of stuff about Idina that many people don't really know...like fans and all, just like her trainers and stuff. W O W

I use to read all these WoO stories about people going backstage and all, getting calls, singing with the cast, etc. I was so jealous. then this happened and I was like 'It's happening to me now...and it's even better!'

I know I'm a lucky girl! *danceS* If a person was in my shoes and didn't know...there would be something wrong, lol.

I'll keep everyone updated on what happens. I've got a lot of ideas for when I go and hang out there. I shall start to make a list:

LIST:
1) make video *duh* and have everyone give a shotout to witches of oz.

I can't wait for that! make sure you have lots of memory!

OMG heck yeah! I'm gonna bring my moms digital camera and I'm gonna buy a really good camcorder and have likes tons of dics and memory sticks. I have no idea who'd I meet as I have no idea when I'm going. But still...who cares?! If I get to go in the bubble.....I'll DIE. aNd like all the other stuff.

And for Idina, if Diane gets in contact with her while she's in London.....I'm going to melt....I will.

Somebody slap me in the face to make sure this is all real

I know how you feel... My uncle was on Broadway, and has lots of connections. One of them happens to be Julie Andrews (his daughter.. well my cousin.. actually spent Christmas vacation at her house this past year!)
