Here's another picture from the Copenhagen production.
Looks much better than the photoshopped ones...

Also, LOVE those baseball ones! Fantastic!
Gosh! It's like Marcie jumped on a plane just to take that picture lol! I wonder what her voice sounds like?

Ooooh, I like the Copenhagen picture much more than the other pictures we've seen from that production. I really like the Glinda's wig, it's got gorgeous curls!

It looks like a For Good picture. Are they keeping the basic plot of the musical, and just writing their own music?

I thought they were keeping the music the same but changing the book and costumes/set?

Thats right. They are NOT changing anything that Stephen Schwartz wrote besides translating the lyrics and libretto into Danish.

I'm not really understanding. How is what Denmark is doing different from what Germany and Japan did?
ForGood
Jun 8 2010, 02:09 AM
They'll have different costumes, sets, lighting, choreography, staging, etc. The only things that will remain the same are the book and score (translated into Danish).

i really like the messy elphie wig and actually even though that hat is a little bit too big, i also like it better...i dont like the ruffle on the present ones, i prefer old school with just the flip of the brim like idina had

It's outside of the regular Wicked franchise, basically.
It's akin to having the rights released and amateur productions picking it up, except that they haven't been released and this production isn't exactly amateur.
Thus, the music & lyrics & libretto stay the same, but the set/costumes are whatever they can come up with (based on funds, materials, etc.), basically.
EDIT: Found even more!
SUPER HI-RES-- just click the photo to load them at your own risk.

I agree. I can't view that page because my computer rolls over and dies.
Here is my best translation of the press release...
The New Theatre has acquired the rights to the greatest musical success on Broadway and in London's West End: the musical phenomenon WICKED. WICKED - The Witches of Oz has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz. The manuscript, which is by Winnie Holzman, is based on Gregory Maguire's bestseller novel of the same name. WICKED was well received after the world premiere at the Gershwin Theatre on Broadway in 2003, winning 20 awards, including three Tony Awards. The musical has succedded since the world premiere in 2003, and was and still is Broadway's biggest popular success, while the performances week by week generates the highest turnover. After the premiere on Broadway WICKED set up in London, Stuttgart, Osaka, Melbourne and most recently in Sydney. In all these places WICKED has beaten all previous audience records. All previous configurations of WICKED have been reproductions of the Broadway setup. The New Theatre is the first theatre that's been authorized to make the theater's own production, adapted to the New Theatre. This exceptional permission has the history that WICKED's composer Stephen Schwartz in Copenhagen as the New Theatre setup of Disney's The Beauty and the Beast, as he was very enthusiastic(not sure what they're trying to say here).
WICKED is expected to premiere at New Theatre next season.
A MUSICAL - TWO WITCHES - INFINITELY magic!
WICKED - Witches of Oz allocates audience in a fantastic world full of magic, witchcraft and magic. The musical, set in the magical kingdom of Oz, gives the answer to how the good witch was good and the wicked witch became wicked. The beautiful and expenses(?) Glinda and Elphaba, who avoids all, because she was born with green skin, meet in an unusual friendship. The musical is also about power and its abuse, but first and foremost about tolerance, to be different and to stand for one's beliefs.
Hopefully it's clear enough to convey the general idea.

Yes, but with the Elphie makeup, it's always so much harder to give an actual age.

The ones that were photoshopped were from a totally different production in Helsinki. They are compared in this thread:

Are they both sanctioned? Which is the one that's been talked about in the press releases and stuff? They seem awfully close (proximity-wise) to both be the first official productions outside the franchise... or maybe it's just me?
Sorry, OT I know.
clockworkgirl21
Jun 10 2010, 07:51 AM
The one that's being talked about it the Danish one. The Helsinki(which is in Finland, right?) one is the one everyone is uneasy about because of the cheap costumes and photoshop.

She sort of looks like she's holding on to the top of the bubble. Like her feet should be dangling or something.
