I was watching the video of their final show, and sorry if this has already been adressed, but why wasn't Joel in his final show? There was a different Wizard, but Joel still came out at the end of the show for his recognition for playing the role. It kinda confused me because I never heard he missed his final show too. Kinda random, but it crossed my mind.

He was sick. Idina said,

'Under the weather', lol! I mean poor Joel, but Idina's choice of words there... it would have be really funny if it was Carole who had said that, seeing as she played Madam Morrible.

Joel missed many, many shows in June and July, due to illness (the poor man is getting old, not as young as he used to be), so bowed out earlier than scheduled on that show. Sean McCourt (woot) was the Wizard in his absence.

I believe Idina menzel said something about Joel being 'Under the Weather' on the final speeches

yeah she did...poor Joel, it sucks that he couldn't actually perform his last show, as like Idina.

That's rough for them. I don't know what I'd do.

He was sick, which is sad that like Idina he did not get to perform for his last show.

Idina and Kristin really seemed to like Joel Grey- they looked up to him as a father figure- you could really see it when he came out for his final bow

yea i think he had a cold...

oh no! It was much more than a cold. He had some big disease word that I can't pronounce that was bad enough for him to be absent for that long. So he finally annouced to not to return to the role.

Aww he did? Poor dear. He seems like such a nice man.

He was actually VERY sick, not a cold, but a disease...thats why he left the show.

I heard, but I didn't know if it was true, that he was really sick and close to dying and so he left to try to recover.

During curtain call Idina said he was feeling a bit under the weather when he came out to get flowers and bow.

He was sick...I think he was having heart problems.

Guys it was just bronchitis, not too bad for teens, but for an old performer doing 8 shows a week anything going wrong with the throat is bad news.

He had bronchitus on that day, but he had heart problems at the same time...

We talked about bronchitus today in one of my classes, so this is kind of ironic for me. Has Joel been doing anything since leaving Wicked?
