You know you're obsessive when just random things in your daily life remind you of Wicked.

This happens to me all the time.

For example:

In class, when seeing two of my vocab words I immediately thought WICKED!! ("winsome" and "grandeur")

While watching Gilmore Girls, I noticed about three Wizard of Oz references in one episode (one of them being when they made a post-it path to avoid setting the burglar alarm off, rory called it 'the yellow stick road'") (In another episode while looking for an inn to put all their guests after the their inn caught fire patty says, "we've looked everywhere. even in tiny motels where it looked like Glinda the Good threw up in")

While reading the word "Indian" in my American Studies textbook, I had to look back because I thought it said, "Idina"

Anything like this happen to you guys? Examples?

I've got a couple, lol

I was taking the ITBS test (for hs!! next year! w00t!) and, the word popular appeared about 3x in one paragraph, and it was all i could to avoid singing in the middle of testing.

In the book im reading, the main character keeps think "thak goodness" and im always like "we couldnt be happier, right dear? couldnt be happier, right here"

I was watching CSI, and one of the guys said "But, no good deed does unpunished" and i was sitting next to my mom and all of a sudden i was like "NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED! NO ACT OF CHARITY GOES UNRESENTED!" she just gave me this look like "are u ok?" lol

I have too many to count! EVERYTHING reminds me of Wicked! :ha:
WICKEDlover159
I'm bound to have like...5 tomorrow alone, lol...I let my friend who had never seen the show listen to "Popular" and now our inside joke is "I'm gonna make you popular!" So...life reminds me of WICKED, all in itself

wow that last one is pretty surprising!! i mean, how weird is that, considering that's not some cliche or anything that you say every day! yeah that would probably make me jump in my seat and be like, "OH OH!" i try to refrain from doing that most of the time, because then im always tempted to explain the whole musical to someone who asks why im jumping up and down. then i'll start quoting random funny parts and they will be like, "ok..." . i guess you just have to see it. lol

Actually, there are a lot of shows/movies that use that saying...I definitely notice it more now but it's pretty popular.

I get reminded of Wicked a lot, and Rent for that matter. people are constantly saying things that are part of lyrics to songs. like this one instance I remember (for Rent): I was walking with my friend to the bus when I realized that I had left my flute in my locker so I went back and my friend was like "what you forget" so then of course I had to go "got a light?" and then we just started singing Light My Candle down the hallway. it was funny.
shobeanrocks
when i see gravity in my science textbook i write defy or defying above it. also when ever anyone says any song title from wicked i start singing the song!
Elphaba/Belle
Whenever I see pink and green together, I flip out. I have to contain my excitement sometimes. Whenever someone says blonde, I am overcome with giggles. I've received several strange looks from people for that one.
FutureElphaba
Soooooo many! My most recent one was yesterday, were were switching seats and after it he told us thay we shouldn't complain because we've probably been CHANGED FOR THE BETTER and I was like WICKED!! in my head!
Mini
I went to my friend's house last Wednesday and while we were there, my friend (the one that I'm getting hooked on Wicked) started singing part of Defying Gravity, so I just HAD to sing along! LOL!

One of my friends is obsessed with the song "Popular" (She's never seen the show, I just let her listen to it) and we were in the middle of yearbook when she started singing along to it, and I started singing to, and then my SS teacher started singing along!!!!!!! IT WAS HYSTERICAL! He told me that he loves the show and Kristin Chenoweth cracks him up...but he started singing Popular!!!!!!!

haha omg thats hilarious!! last year when i told my teacher i had to include a piece from Phantom in my anthology, he was started belting out "Music of the night". In the library. lol it was pretty funny.
ShoshanaFiend89
We were reading "Romeo and Juliet" in English last year, and our teacher said something about what was going to happen next and how it would change everything for good. And I was biting my tongue so hard so I wouldn't start singing. That is the song when if I'm thinking of it, I can't help but just sing a little bit of it to myself.

WICKEDlover159
I was doing vocab (fun!! ) And, for one of the words, wicked was the definition, and I was like WHOA! lol
another one of the words was surriptitious and I was like "Where she had been lurking, surriptitiously" lol
alex
I had the word verdigris (i can't remember if that's how it's spelled) as a vocab word && in the same section a word w/ the definition Wicked
Aundie
For me it's just the way people say things, or the way I say things

for example...Someone asked me if I had something and without even thinking I was like "Yes I do" the exact same way that Galinda says it in the show..

or

this might sound dumb but if someone says "Wonderful" or "It's wonderful" I just start singing in my head..

I mean really haven't you had a boss or someone look at something and be like "it looks wonderful"...maybe
TheWickedOne
one of my vocab words in high English II was

Depravity its kinda like a mix between defy and gravity.... and the meaning is something that has the word ''wicked'' in it somewhere... i think huh.gif
elven_ringbearer
In Seinfeld, Elaine said "Wonderful" and Jerry immediately goes "We couldn't be happier"
WICKEDlover159
LOL!!! I would immediatly start singing random verses, be like "Wonderful , they called me wonderful! We couldn't be happier, right dear? It does sounds wonderful! We couldn't be happier, right here." lol
elven_ringbearer
The funniest part of it was that George had said something before, but I hadn't caught it, so I screamed at the TV "What did he say?! What if it had to do with WICKED and I just missed it?!" :ha:

HAHA OMG I was eating my poptart as I read that and I almost spit it out laughing.

If i had seen that I would have been like WICKED OVERLOAD and all these lyrics mumbled together would pop in my head.

Sorry to make you almost choke! I almsot fell out of my chair when I heard it. I just wish I had known what George had said. It was the episode where Jerry got robbed and was going to get a new apartment.

i was watching "thats 70's show" on FX and it was when Hyde, Fez, and Eric detroyed the locker room of another school and got locked in..when they realized they were locked in, Hyde said "no good deed goes unpunished" and i laughing for like an hour. my dad was like....it really wasnt that funny...i never told him why it was....and its always great to be talking and suddenly say popular..stop in mid sentance and start singing the song....you get really weird looks when its not someone who knows about wicked
WICKEDlover159
This isn't entirely WICKED, but its Steph, so...it sorta counts, lol

My dad and I were listening to the pre-game show in the car (Broncos won! w00t!) and, Mike Shanahan said something or other and then said something else about setbacks, and I was like "Steback, I've been hit now. Long shot, what should I do now? Sit back and wait it through, is it over yet or coming back for me." I didn't actually start to sing...my dad wouldn't have gotten it and thought that I was loosing it...I would have gone farther, but he started to talk and cut off my line of thought, lol

I love seeing green and pink together, my room is green and pink! but it was green and pink before I saw Wicked, now I love my room so much more!
bobert5353
See! Pink goes good with green!!!
FutureElphaba
Another funny thing, my backpack is pink and my twin sister's is green :ha:
Fox517
I had a really great one in my head but I lost it while I was reading all of yours. I'm shure it will come back to me. me and two of my friends have this wicked understanding between us so in the middle of a scentance if some one says a word that reminds us of wicked we all start singing. and if you think that you get funny looks while you are singing think about a group of three all singing off key. I can't even exlaine the looks we get.
riffing.love
I didn't read all this, but on last week's gilmore girls, Paris said something along the lines of 'we all know i haven't slept in years, since i watched the wizard of oz, thanks mother'
Fox517
I saw that episode and I love that line. It is amazing how the Wizard of OZ has become such a part of Pop culture. I bet if you really listened to the TV shows you watch that you would here a bunch of referances to OZ. Its amazing.

Hehe!! I saw that one, too!! I've been watching gilmore girl reruns lately, and you wouldn't believe how many wizard of oz references they have!! my fav is the yellow stick road (the one on my first post). it's enough to make a wicked fan CRAZY.

OHH I HAD ANOTHER ONE TODAY!

I feel stupid posting in my own topic AGAIN, but i didn't want to post a brand new topic on it obviously.

So in American Studies we had these posters with quotes on westward expansion and manifest destiny and we had to write comments on the posters. This to everyone was pretty much a big joke, most people drew random pictures and wrote things like, "hmmm" and "not cool" on them. Pretty funny.

So someone wrote, "The white people just killed Indians because they're heartless"

And i was SOOO tempted to write, "Like Boq!" But i figured no one would get that so I thought about "Like the TIN MAN!!" or "Well it's not their fault the wizard was a fraud and couldnt give them hearts!!"

But I thought I'd give the teacher a break. And people already think my musical-obsession is weird. lol
WICKEDlover159
Lol...today, one of my friends said "I am so happy now" I started singing Wickeder, lol...and, on Seinfeld (again with Seinfeld!) They sad "I hope your happy now" and I was like started singing DG...tehe
Elphaba/Belle
I have more!
Today my grandpa said, "You have a short day today." Because I got out of school early and I immediately thought "One short day!"
Another one was a conversation that went on during my German class.
Mike:I haven't been out recently.
Herr:Why?
Mike:I got grounded.
Herr:Well that's good, because you need to remember what Dorothy said "There's no place like home." And you can't say "We're not in Kansas anymore" unless you are with Toto. Then you can say, "Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore."
My German teacher is weird like that. He says weird things sometimes.

Yesterday I had to stop by residential life to check on my room assignment, and when I reached the front desk I nearly said, "Madame Morrible, we've not received our room assignments!"

And then in history class today I had a Wicked/Reefer Madness moment. The professor asked us what we thought history was and the first thing that popped into my head was: "Harping on the past!" But this girl behind me said before I could answer, "It's stuff that happened in the past." The professor really liked what she said and proceeded to call history "the stuff" for the rest of his lecture. Imagine my amusement!
Elphaba/Belle

The professor asked us what we thought history was and the first thing that popped into my head was: "Harping on the past!"

I probably would have said "All sorts of things that aren't true."
bobert5353
I told my history teacher the harping on the past thing, she thought it was funny... :ha:
Wicked Witch
In history today, we had to label these lamenated maps with those overhead projector markers. My friend was drawing dogs on it instead of labeling countries, so I erased the dog and ended up getting ink all over my hand and my friend said "I hope you're happy!" Which of course I replied "I hope you're happy now!" Then she laughed and continued drawing another dog...

And someone brought the Grimmerie to Guys and Dolls rehearsal.
Haha I swear I'm going to say that in class someday. I'll interrupt my American Studies teacher and be like, "I just don't see why you can't teach us history instead of harping on the past." Although I don't think my teacher would react like Dr. Dillamond. He'd probably look at me and be like, "Do you realize what you just said?"

I don't know if I could do it with a straight face, though. I'm always doing that in class though. Thinking of random things I could say in class relating to Wicked. No one would get it but me, though, which is why i normally don't say anything. And because I can never find anything that fits the situation just right.

But I HAVE decided to call my math teacher Madame Morrible now. To other people, not to her. lol.

I know I had another Wicked moment today but I can't remember it and it's driving me CRAZY!! lol i hate that.
