Hey just wondering what exactly happened. i always thought she broke a rib going down the trapdoor when she was melting and her understudy had to play her until the end of the show. BUT i've just seen the video of the 2nd half of her last performance and Shoshana plays Elphie for the whole act. What happened? don't jump on me for being ignorant.
I'm a blonde soprano... I can't help it i was born that way.

Well her "last performance" Sho plays elphaba until the very end when fyiero comes and knocks on the trap door. Then Idina comes out in a red jump suit, broken rib and all, and does the finale. The jump suit was Adidas...

i saw a red adidas track suit yesterday, not exactly like idina's though.

I think i was really cool for JLT and Joey to step back and let Idian get her applause, even though it was their last night too.

ok so when did the breakage of the rib happen?? Was that during the day before's performance? and was it when she was melting?

Yea, she was melting and the stage door had already started to decend. She went to go step onto the trap door but it wasn't there and she fell right through. According to Idina, "I melted and I melted". That was all the day before she was schedualed to leave.

The whole show was ridiculously moving. There were so many people upset because she wasn't performing herself, and then at the end there were people that just outright burst into tears because she came back.

And Idina herself .. well, no dry eyes in the house that night.

Was the audience aware that Idina wouldn't be there? Because that would be awful for Sho if when she ran out to the front of the stage, she got applause that died really fast because they thought she was Idina. Not that they wouldn't clap, but surely a random Shoshana entrance would get less applause than Idina's final entrance.

Wow I just watched part of the video of this and whoa....Shoshana brought it!!! That must have been extremely nerve racking to go on in that kind of situation but she was amazing!!!!!

I'm glad Idina got to come out at the end though. It was sweet.
