any personnal experiences?
[not talking about tour]

First time i went, *Deccember 28th*. About 300 people were there. The ENTIRE place was packed... My name was drawn 10th!

2nd time, Feb 18th, I didn't win, but got 3 tickets for cancellation line
defy___gravity
how does the cancellation line work?

do we pay the regular amount on the ticket?
Beautifully Tragic
You are so lucky if you actually get to see it in NY. I'm going to have to wait until they come back to CA next summer as well. So far away! What are you doing in NY in December anyway? You're so lucky!
defy___gravity
i'll be there for like 4-5 days for
- an in-person interview at "school of visual arts"... basically a portfolio overview...

so on the side im gonna be
watching like -rent/etc/etc. going to montauk in long island
its cool cause ive been to new york for a couple of times, first time i went was soley for wicked in september of 2004.. and i did the whole tourist seen then also...

so now im gonna go there for the feel of new york
hopefully ill get accepted to that art college and live there.. who knows :]

then wicked x56

Wow. I've never been to NY. I think the farthest east I've been is Minnesota. We're thinking of visiting the east coast next summer, though. But I can't imagine going to school so far away from home.
lessthanthree
You pay full price for cancelation.

good luck at your portfolio review!

be careful in Ny. They won't let you do both. There's a guy there who is like "Hey... You were doing lotto. No cancellation for you!"
DarkEyedBeauty1
Hi,

I have another question about the cancellation line, but from the other side. I was going with three friends to Wicked in NYC, but one can't go. Can I take the ticket to the box office and get a refund?

Thanks!
NannerboBanner
You can't get a refund, but you can turn your ticket back in.

Lotto is all about the day! For me, I've won NYC Wicked lotto 4 out of 8 times (and one on Sho's last!). The best time I've noticecd is Sunday mats!! The matinees are the best times cause it's less ppl or go in really shitty weather. that can help as well...plus, if you win, you get two choose two types of pins...one that's green and says I won the Wicked lottery and the other that is black with pink writing that says POPULAR and WICKED below it. Good luck!
NannerboBanner
The one time I won the Wicked lotto is BEFORE they started giving out those pins. I want one!
DanaC
I wish I could go to New York! It's my dream to go there! I have a NYC/Wicked/musicals shrine in my desk at school!
eponine
You get pins in NYC? They need to do that here. Atleast here if you don't win you can still stand in the standby line. I haven't had any luck with the lotto though....sigh...maybe next time.
Mantber
I have a nifty pin! I love it! smile.gif
madelinehitz
When did they start the pin thing?! I won the lotto twice and got nothing haha! Well, besides amazing, cheap seats and the chance to see the show :ha:.
DanaC
I want a pin!... oh well...
AdmiralShark
If it they are the same ones that they had for the tour in Tampa, it says something like "I won the Wicked lottery".

Don't remember the exact wording but it was something like that.
jstarz927
The lotto is soooo rigged. There are two ways you can greatly increase your chances of winning.

1) Say you're from Fiji (or someplace equally obscenely far away) visiting for the weekend

2) Bring a hot female friend. I tried the lotto three times over the course of one month, the one time I didn't go with my model/ballerina friend I didn't win.

are you serious??
wickedgreenbean
What about Wed matinees, it is easier to win the lottery then?

When did they start the pin thing?!

Last winter, I think? Maybe.
AdmiralShark
The one I love is the person who mentioned that they only had eight people participating in the lottery they were involved in one time.

The person mentioned it on this board and I don't remember where it was but I suspect it was on tour.
DanaC
I actually think it was in Chicago!

Yep.

The lotto guy is male and probably very bored. *shrug*

Matinees in general have fewer people waiting for the lotto, so instead of 300 people, maybe there are 200 instead...it's still complete luck, barring those things I mentioned before *cough*

wednesday matinee's and sunday's usually have the least amount of people for a lotto, but a TON of people still show up so it really is all luck, unless you have a hot girl apparantely...hahaha
trulyGRACEful
Joel has been doing the lotto for 10 years. I don't believe the lotto is rigged. My best friend works with the guy...trust me.
Juggle~Wiggle
Really they give pins? I went Jan 7th, 06 and won but I didn't get a pin. :-( But I think I really had luck on my side that day cuz everything was going right! :ha:

If you’re talking about the man with cane (that's what I call him), he’s a really nice guy! He was sooo happy for me and my friend when we got tickets on the CL cuz he knew we were there basically the whole day trying to get tickets!
mc751n
my friend won the lottery and shee got a pin, everytime we go she wears it, just for luck I suppose. Its never let us down! lol

10 years? Wicked hasn't been around for 10 years.
