There's a rumor going around about Julia getting decreased to 6-shows in response to her having ongoing vocal troubles.
Again, it's a RUMOR I've heard from a somewhat reliable source. However true it is remains to be seen. I'm making that quite clear upfront.

What do you mean? That she will only be doing 6-shows a week? Aww..that sucks if it's true!

Wow, it seems as the role's taking a toll on a lot of actors at the moment.

which 6 show is she doing? I certainly hope Fridays, Sats, and Sun.s

It would be the normal week without matinees, like most 6-show performers.
Just remember, it is a RUMOR. Nothing set in stone (and most-likely never will be. We all know about rumors.)

I remember when La Boheme was on Broadway that there were rotating actors in the main leads right from the beginning.
Off-topic, I know, but this made me think of that.

I think they should have had an alternate for Elphaba since the very beginning.. sort of like Christine in POTO.

I agree. It seems to be killing everyone's voice.

not true.
she's only missed two shows in her run so far on broadway because of a minor cold. there's no need to worry about that. as long as she is feeling well she is going to do 8 shows a week.

I really don't think it's true, she is doing great right now during the run, and she better be there on April 1, or someone is dieing!

I agree! Elphaba is very demanding and there needs to be an alternate. This would save a lot of actresses problems.

I agree as well..I think it would make a huge difference if they didnt have to do all 8 shows a week, and the shows they had off were actually scheduled so people would know who they were getting when they bought tickets.

I too think that there should be an Elphaba alternate. If you think about it, Elphaba sings 13 or so songs out of 20 songs, and all of them but 3 are major belting type of songs, and even though I believe belting if done right wont damage vocal cords, I do believe if done 8 times a week for extensive amount of time it can and most likely will create probs for the actress. Julia uses vibretto (sp) but still causes damage.

i agree i think there should be alternates because it is demanding to play the role of elphaba and they should tell you whos scheduled for what performance

There may be hope of me actually seeing the show now when I go to NYC!

I'm guessing this isn't true after reading the Diva Talk interview.
Julia talked about how much she HATES to miss a show unless she absolutley HAS to, and even then she feels bad about it.
