holymeganhilty
nope i think im just going to pretend i didnt read that :lol1:
FantasyPlease
good idea.
Turtle_Heart
I don't think that she's actually alive.. I looked at it as meaning more that her ideas and such were still alive.

I think it would ruin the first novel if she was, because it's supposed to be a tragedy.

yes i guess your right....but near the end of SOAW Liir saw on the street in Nor's writing, "Elphaba Lives"
Western_Sky_Flier
Not in any physical way.
FantasyPlease
possibally.
Western_Sky_Flier
One of the reasons I hope we see more of Nor in SoaW is because I think she's more of a little Elphie than even Liir ever could be. Or what Elphie had wanted to be. The broom took Fiyero's daughter on a ride once in Wicked... and the "Elphaba Lives" I get the feeling is Nor carrying on all of Elphie causes and crusades...
loveiswhatido
I really need to read it. I've read Wicked already.
saintaelphaba
"Elphaba Lives" is a statement to show that she died a martyr. It isn't meant to be taken literally. I think both Wicked and Son of a Witch were quite conclusive on that. Elphaba's spirit still lives in those who remember her and Nor is not letting her life be wasted. Her strength and sense of injustice against the Animals is what Elphaba leaves as her legacy.
ItsMeeee
i think/thought it was ment in the way that proposed candle & liirs child was like 'elphaba' if you get what i mean, maybe i interperted it wrong

Yeah, I agree, I think Liir's daughter could be another Elphaba.
ElphaBit
I think that Elphaba's spirit lives on, not Elphaba herself. However, we could have a little bit of Elphie in Liir's daughter.
Fabala Thropp109
I hope so, especially her ideals about life, and Animals too!!!

okayy i'll just say this as quickly as possible... I need to read Son of a Witch, meaning the whole thing stupid DG! Yeah, so I am a bit too dramatic sometimes. DG = ohh dare I say... Dorothy Gale. Ewwww. Hate, hate her. Murderer! Elphie and Nessie are both innocent women!

AsLongAsI'mYours
Aww, don't give Dorothy the bad wrap- really she didn't do anything. Nessa's death was completely out of her control, and you can hardly call chucking a bucket of water at someone murder.

I've said it before, but I still firmly believe the whole 'Elphie Lives' is a metaphor- her cause is still alive.

And... potential spoiler

As for Liir and Candle's daughter, I really don't like the idea of her being a reincarnate of Elphaba.
Fae
I agree. Then it would be like, "Oh, okay, it's going to be a smiliar story, then. She's going to be just like Elphaba was."

That seems dull if you ask me.

*resists the urge to throw something*

Dorothy passed out on a bed, she couldn't control her house, let's chuck you into a tornado and see if you can avoid hitting something?

as for the bucket, Dorothy SAVED Elphaba by putting her out of her misery- would you rather have had Elphaba live in a world where people want to murder her and torture her? In both the musical and book Dorothy makes it possible for Elphaba to be reunited with Fiyero- if you don't like that then I'd take it up with Elphaba. Not to mention that because of this the wizard was forced to leave Oz and Ozma the true queen eventually took the throne back over and brought peace to Oz at last.

So, remind me, who do you hate hate hate?

Anyway, I'm pretty sure Elphaba's dead- she's just not come out of it.
Fae
Tinny- you're my new hero.

Thank you.

Edit: I agree in the sense that, in both the musical and novel, Elphaba was able to reunite with Fiyero. Also in each, this was thanks to Dorothy. Had she not have murdered Elphaba in the musical, she couldn't be with Fiyero. And had she not have died in the novel, she wouldn't be in the Afterlife.
