This seems to be becoming a problem again, so this is a reminder that the maximum height of a banner is 175 pixels, and the maximum width is 500 pixels. No if, ans, or buts, please. If you want to keep avatars or whatnot inside of your signature, please keep it within the same restrictions as with the banners.
As well, please be smart about how much text or how many smilies you use in your signature.

Are we allowed to have more than one banner?
I'd like to keep the one I have now, but would also like to have one that is the usual 500x175.

I love the diagram Nick! lol, I think there should be some sort of limit with the video banners as well, they are really slowing down my computer and I have high-speed, so I can't imagine how it is for dial-up!

I didn't make the diagram. Adam did, on the page with the basic rules of the forum (which everyone should have read). Shizuanykid, as long as BOTH of your banner end up equaling 500x175, then there's no reason why you can't have multiple banners. But, again BOTH have to equal within the limits. If this isn't applied, one of your banners will have to be removed.
As for video banners, I have also noticed how much they're starting to appear. Dial-up people must hate you all, so I think it's an issue that's going to need to be addressed.

It would be good if video banners could be considered. Even on broadband it make loading pages much slower - I often find a page loads in 'jerks'.
Also considering any discussion of bootlegs on this site is strictly forbidden I'm quite surprised that many of the video banners, which use clips that are obvisouly from bootlegs, are permitted. Surely, from a legal point of view, displaying clips from bootlegs is worse than discussing them?

Since some people are choosing to ignore sent private messages, this is everyone's warning: the maximum height for a banner is 175 pixels and the maximum length is 500 pixels. No one is exempt from this rule. No one. Those who have been here for a long time have absolutely no excuse, and I'm tired of you ignoring private messages sent from the mods.

People need another reminder:
The maximum height for a banner is 175 pixels.
The maximum length for a banner is 500 pixels.
There is no reason why any of yours' should exceed these requirements. I'm getting tired of having to repeat myself over and over, especially since it's older members that are breaking this rule. No one is allowed to have a banner that is bigger than 500x175.
If we have to keep warning you, warnings will be distributed.

Not to step on anyone's toes, but I believe you can make anything of any size as long as it is 500 x 175 or smaller, so 400x175 would be fine. My banner's not 500x175, and it's fine.

Update:
Please be smart with how much text you use in your signatures. Some people have according banners, but then load their signatures with a lot of text. If you are going to do that, please don't space between the lines. If it becomes too long, please use smaller sized font.

Do I have too much text then? Because I really want to keep all my shows in... but if it's too much I'll cut it :-)

Just put them all on the same line instead of a line for each show.

But it'll look strange then and will probably stretch the screen in the other way... if that makes sense? I'd rather just cut them completely than do that. Especially since next time I see the show, it's not going to fit on there anymore anyway.

Heads Up:
I've noticed lately a couple more people making the same requests in multiple shops. This is a waste of the graphic makers' times, and if you want a general sense of people making a banner/icon/wallpaper for you, please do so in the
General Banner Store.

Bumpity bump, because it seems like some people have been forgetting. The 500x175 rule is still in effect. Graphics makers, please keep this in mind while making graphics for yourselves and others. Patrons of graphics stores, if the store owner forgets, please remind them politely, immediately. They can fix it more easily if it's right away.
Thanks, guys!

I want to remind everyone that Hotlinking is against the rules.
For those who don't know, Hotlinking is when you post a link to the picture, rather than the picture itself.
If you are going to make a request, please post the picture, not the link. I suggest using Image Shack, as it is easy, free and you don't have to sign up for it!
I know that I have been leniant about this rule, but I would like to remind everyone that it IS now going to be enforced.
If I see any hotlinking, I will send you a PM asking you to edit it, and if it's not edited, I will delete the links.Thank you for your cooperation!
