I liked her on American Idol, haven't heard her in Bklyn, but honestly, I don't think she would be a very good Elphaba.

I've no idea who she is to be perfectly honest but just because she's young doesn't mean she couldn't be a great Elphie. I mean look at Cassidy in London and Jenny DiNoia in Chicago, they're both young and are fantastic in the role.

Maybe...I think penny was the perfect role for her. im not sure if Elphaba fits her but yo never know! I love Diana though. When i saw her in hairspray which i am blessed with that experience i looked at her the same as i would look at Shoshana or Eden. Like a supastar! lol

No, Diana doesn't come off as a soprano to me so no Glinda, but I know she can belt...so yes yes yes to Elphaba!

I thought of that too when I saw this thread. I love her vocals and such, but I almost don't want her to do Elphaba purely to save them. It's so tiring and it would be a shame for her to follow so many Elphabas and kill her vocals, especially since she is young. On the other hand, maybe she won't hurt her voice and would be fantastic..you have no idea.

I think she would be good as Elphaba. I think she has a good voice and needs a chance. :mrgreen: I mean...assuming she wants it.

Well considering she was able to do Brooklyn and not strip them i really think she could pull off elphie.

I don't think I can see her as Elphaba, and I don't think she can hit the high notes for Glinda.

I think Diana would make a GREAT Nessa and an incredible Elphaba....in a few years. She's too young now but maybe in five years or so. She wants to work on her second CD right now. I've met her twice and she's SO nice. I live half an hour from her (when she's home in GA).

I hate when people just say that someone should be Elphaba because they are a good singer. Diana is incredible, I actually saw her in BKLYN and her voice was soo powerful, she could definitely handle Elphaba's songs, but does she look like a witch at all? No. You can't say "so and so could be Elphaba" just because of their voice, you have to think about other things like appearance, acting, etc. She just couldn't play Elphaba IMO and it has nothing to do with ability. She could make a good Nessa maybe, but I would hate to see her as Elphaba, not because I don't think she could handle it, just because it wouldn't be right for her at all.

I don't get what you mean by that. Do the other women who have played Elphaba "look like a witch"? I don't think they do. Look at Victoria Matlock for example...I think she is supermodel gorgeous! It's all about the green paint!

I still think she could, i dont think with this show is about your look fully it is about talent and if you want to admit it or not there is not that many people out there who could handle the show technically, that is one of the reasons why they keep recycling. She has lost alot of weight anyways actually and i personally think she could do it. It is kind of hard to show a picture of her smiling when she was 16 to judge.

I could actually totally see her in the green paint pulling it off and looking like a witch. I think it would be a good thing for her, and I think with the right amount of maturity, she could pull the role off beautifully. I think her youth would actually help add to the role and make her transition from outcast college girl to wicked witch even more realistic and believable.

Some of the greatest Elphabas look nothing like witches. As for the 'high cheekbones' rule, that has nothing to do with looking like a witch, that's just a standard Idina set with hers.

That's not a good picture to use of her because it was from a couple of years ago. Her facial features have matured a lot since then.

I love her and honestly think she would be amazing. She has matured a lot in the past couple of years, and I thought she was amazing in both Hairspray and Brooklyn; and Brooklyn was a big role to pull off too. As for the whole look thing, I don't think that really matters. I agree, most people who have played Elphaba really don't "look like a witch." She'd be great in green..if and when she wants to do this.
