I have to say. The hammerheads or whatever in One Short Day have ALWAYS annoyed me.

Phew. Good to get that one out.

I loved the inspiration and how it has made me want to be on Broadway.

I never liked 'Something Bad' when I listened to the cast recording but it's grown on me.

The only song I don't like are Something Bad and March of the Witch Hunters, other I've gone through fazes of not liking but I <3 them now.

I don't care much for Joel's version, but I LOVE Ben's.

I like Wicked because it takes a classic like Wizard of Oz and makes it something more.

I would take nothing out. While I do think some songs are boring, (SM, SB) I think they are important to the plot.

Would I add anything?? I dunno...maybe make some of those ad libs permanent?

Yes, those in OSD are muy creepy. I'd take them out.

I don't like the character of Dr. Dillamond, although I understand he is essential to the plot.

I love the overall cleverness of the dialogue/lyrics and how it foreshadows and references The Wizard of Oz.

The whole reason why I love it so much is because it makes you reevaluate a story you have grown to know and love as you grew up. And you see this show and everything you've ever known about these characters is just turned upside down. I think it's brilliant. And all of the references to LFB's "The Wizard of Oz" are amazing. I think they were so clever with this show and they did it just wonderfully. But the song WONDERFUL can definately leave. I probably wouldn't care too much. lol. I like the scene, just not that song. It bothers me.

I really like the show because of how much it changes you, or it changed me. Before I saw it, I was having a really hard time just living, and getting through the day. I just really didn't enjoy life. I wasn't a good couple of months. I hated everything. But then Wicked came to Toronto; I'd heard DF and FG and I really liked the music so I went to go see it. I remember coming out, and feeling alive, something I hadn't felt in a while. It was incredible. I've loved it since. It's made me feel the same every time I've seen it.

I agree about the dancing Clown-resembling things for OSD. That's really the only thing that bothers me as far as what I'd want to be taken out/changed.

I'd like to have Boq have more lines/scenes and have him not just being a one-sided bit player.
I'd love a scene like in the book where Pfanne pretends to be Galinda and writes to Elphaba asking her to come visit them during the summer and poor Elphie comes. It's one of my favorite scenes in the book. But I suppose the hat giving scene in DTL is just as effective.

I love Wicked - do NOT get me wrong. There are some lines I'd prefer taken out or added - some parts I just think are so tacky it works, but some just don't. Most lyrics work, some tend to be stupid (it depends on the mood you're listening to it in - ha) and make no sense; do NOT get me wrong, I have all the admiration in the world for Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman. They are freakishly and immensely talented, I KNOW. We are lucky they have provided us with such a great show - but I'm a huge fan of Wicked who isn't afraid to point out criticisms. (Hope the whole book and lyrics criticism doesn't get taken the wrong way! ) But I seriously love the show.

Someone bumped, so I'd like to add a couple of things:
I love the musical because of so many things: the message, the overall story of growth, friendship, of good vs wickedness. It's fantastical, but so relatable. I think it's a beautiful piece of theater, and I think Mr. Schwartz's score is moving and fun at the same time. (I find more problems with the book) But I love its flaws too. It's got a couple of songs that are not going to be Broadway classics and lines that people only laugh at because there is a pause in the action, but hey, nothing's perfect.
I love it also for the fantastic casts we've been blessed with. From the ridiculously talented OBC with Idina, Kristin, and Norbert, to all the people that have graced the stages of its many productions: Megan, Eden, Julia, Kendra, JLT, Shoshana, Kerry, Helen, SJB, Annaleigh, Erin, Dee, Kristy and so many more. We have such loyalty to them. It's a special show.
I also love Wicked for the novel. It has to be one of the best books I have ever read (and I read very often). I would never have found my love for it if not for the musical.

ASM, SB, OSD and TWAI and the Castle scene pre-FG and WWOTE scene are still a little 'eh' to me, but as I said, I still love the show.

I think that Wicked Witch of the East should be on the Cast Recording. Yes, it gives has some spoilers but If you are going to listen to the CD before you see the show, then it's your own fault. Besides, I could just as easily tell someone. "Hey, boq turns into the tin man".
AND as someone stated earlier, March of the witch hunters gives it away too if you can recognize Christopher Fitzgerald's voice. and I personally think that no one mourns the Wicked gives away that the Wizard is Elphaba's father on the Cast recording.

I also think that the full sentimental man should be on the CD. I hate it on the CD, but I like in the show. Especially when Elphaba starts reading the spell.

Everyone seems to dislike the Flatheads in OSD. I think that they are funny. I love them. and besides, they are strait from the book (The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, not Wicked) So they are kind of a crowd pleaser to fans of LFB's original novel w/ Denslow's illustrations.

I wish the CD had the "It's MEEEEEEEEE!!!" before the ending of DG

I do agree that Boq and Nessa should have bigger roles. I don't know exactly what I'd add, but I just would like to see more of them. maybe a duet. That tap dance was a great idea.

how does NOMTW on the cast recording give away that the Wizard is Elphaba's father? I never read into that when i listened to it.. guess i'll have to listen to it again to see if i've been missing comething.. which, knowing me, i could have..

and I wanted the "It's ME" on the CD, too.. it makes it a little more.. idk.. something..

and maybe they could've some how shown Nessa's need for Elphaba a little more.. to make that feeling of abandonment that Nessa gets a little more powerful..

I just mean that Joel Grey has such a distinct (sp?) voice, so one might be able to recognize it when listening to NOMTW and then Wonderful.

I actually got it last night as i fell asleep.. sorry.. for some reason i was thinking the finale when i read that.. but when i was lying in bed trying to get to sleep, the CD started over and i was like "i am such an idiot" because it was then i realized you meant the beginning.. I need some mental help..
