i have watched a lot of the girls on the videos and seen how they act out thier flying..but Idina is the one that sticks out the most..just the way she moves her body and her hand gestures..along with the broom handleing. she seemed to make it more believable. i havnt seen Ana so im not sure about her..but let me know what you think. it probably aslo helps being live to see it

I am in agreeance. Idina just makes you believe that she is really flying!

i know...its so amazing how she does it..every video i watch i get all excited when she starts flying and all the emotion she puts into it

IDINA all the way....that could be because I see her video more than I see Shoshana's, Stephanie's, Ana's , and Eden's non existant one. But still Idina makes it look like she is flying!

Idina, unlike the rest of the Elphabas. (From what I've seen) she doesn't do crazy hand movements, or switch the broom alot. And when she does switch the broom to the other hand, she doesn't toss it to her other hand. If it was happening for real, when Elphie would throw the broom to the other hand, she would fall until she grabbed it, Idina actually "handed off" the broom.

exactly..im loving this...and the way she points the broom out when she goes into the "and nobody..in all of oz" that whole bit it so cool..she doesnt hold it like its a gun like shoshana does..that just makes me laugh...the hand movements idina does do just seems to actually go with the flying

FOr me, SHo is very believable!

Idina looks so weightless while the others look like they're standing on something....that may be because the original machine was built for Idina's height, too....

Idina is the best. She is so emotional with her face and movements. You actually believe she is flying and singing this song, and leaving all her friends and dreams down there.

Sho is the best singer for it, but Idina IS Elphie, the Wicked Witch of the West right there.

STEPHANIE!!! My God, when she started to fly, my jaw just dropped...hell, I'm STILL in shock!! She makes it so believable and puts so much emotion into it and really makes you believe that she's flying!!

ana doesn't move when she sings. it's funny. i have to say steph. her "it's MEEEE!" is amazing and she does the best hand movements. then when she says the second "bring me down" she puts her left hand on the side of her face like she's calling out to everyone. by the end of the song you feel like you just went though an emotional journey.

I say Steph bc in all of the pictures I've seen of flying it's almost always her.

Ive seen them all, and Id say both shoshana and idina

Idina when she flew it was so powerful, and they had this cool reverb effect that made her echo throughout the whole theater!

Shoshana was just amazingggg whether she riffed her way up, or change her vowels for effect, just amazing.

I have to disagree with Yeroismyhero.... I'm a total ANA Freak, but Idina wins for best Flight. I love her flying. Ana, when I saw her, didn't move much and stood basically stock still. i saw her in August... If you care to prove me wrong, show me a link to her great flight and I'll likely bow down to our Ana's greatness....lol Ana is Elphie love, but Idina rocks off my striped WWotE stock!

For me Jenna Leigh Green and Sho made it very believable LIVE, but the one i think is most off the wall is Steph's, out of the two times i saw her the first she was phenominal, but the second she was leaning over really far and almost looked as if she were falling and was making REALLY weird facial expressions , it was just sooo over dramatic, but her perfromance was GREAT none the less.

I think that Stephanie puts to much effort into flying. And sometimes her riffs makes DG sound like a different song. (Steph fans, don't kill me) I still <3 Steph tho!

i agree that idina looks the most like she's "flying" cause of her lack of movement
but i hafta say i do love what sho does with the broom....even though it might not be as convincing it's fun to watch

Ya, you have to except that not everybody loves Steph as much as you do. I used to be the same way with Idina. I got over it though.

I say Steph if only because of that clip of her on Chicago News explaining the mechanics of the lift and why she makes the "crazy hand motions and weird facial expressions" (sarcasm... grr). She makes the very same crazy hand motions and weird facial expressions so no one will be like "How did she do that?" and start looking for the lift, thus missing the most important part of the song. They're supposed to look at HER and go "Oooo," not look at the lift and go, "WTF!"

Idina's great, though... again, because she actually looks like she's flying and takes the focus away from the lift. Ana, Shoshana et al really seem to be standing there. Steph and Idina actually got the flying thing down.

Haha, I just went and watched clips of all of them before I cast my vote.

And I chose Idina. Like everyone else said, she doesn't move around quite as much, and her movements are more flowing, making it look like she is floating in the air. If you think about it, DG is the very first time Elphaba flies. I'm would guess that flying by broomstick is not an easy thing to do, and Sho and Steph look almost like they have too much confidence in their flying abilities.

Also, Idina always sings this one like Elphaba is really gasping for breath, which makes her all the more convincing because I'm sure that flying for the first time is tough and is a huge effort for Elphaba. Then again, maybe I over analyze.

But for the record...in DG overall, Sho is my favorite. She is a force to be reckoned with. Just listening to her sing it gets me pumped and makes me want to jump up and down like MAD!!!!!!!!!! :rock: *not quite sure how my roommate would react to that...*

Idina, in my opinion, keeps your eyes fixed on her the most so you buy it more than the others but I have not seen all of them fly but from what I have seen I like Idina's the best.

i don't think steph is that good becaus ein every video i have seen and when i saw her live you could clearly see the flying machine behind her and she didn't hide it well at all it left little to the imagination. i think SHo was by far the best becasue she was so fierce and widl and she was very good at making it seem like she actually WAS flying!

at the theatre i think you're amazed by elphaba (STEPH) flying. you don't ever look at the thing behind her back. plus even if people did most of them wouldn't think anything about it. when i went with ex girlfriend and 13 or her family members they never guessed how it was done. her sister who was 9 said she had magic powers, lol. i think steph does everything perfect. she moves her arms around more than most elphabas and draws your attention away from the lift. as i've said before her "IT'S MEEEE!" is amazing! she starts out all hunched over like she's hiding then when the guards run up to her she shoots up and start's singing. when i saw her the first time it was so amazing that it almost seemed unreal. her dg everything is the best in my opinion. she was my 3rd elphaba and i've never seen any of them do the song with such power. ok...i'm done, lol.

i perfer whe they sing "IT's MEEEEE" more than when they scream it. however i do like how she is all hunched over and then almost explodes and the whole way up she has her arms spread that is the only good part that i have to give her props for

i usually don't like screaming either, but steph's isn't quite a scream. it's a controlled singing-scream. hard to explain but she does it somehow. i could talk about steph for hours *day dreams about talking to steph and hearing her sing dg over and over again*
