Hey All!

I know that I’m “new” here, and I don’t know exactly how everything works on the board. But I took a few pictures around backstage (of the Broadway production) that I though you all would enjoy so I figured I would post them. Please excuse the lighting as there are very few lights on after the performance ends.

^ Looking out at the Gershwin from the Stage with no house lights on.

^ The Dillamond chalk board set.

^ Wonderful Wizard of Oz’s head

^ Looking out into the empty Gershwin from behind the Clock Stage Right

^ The exact location of the Elphaba lifter in the stage

^ The curtain line looking into the empty pit.

^ Back of the bridge set. Has some important reminders regarding timing for the cast, and the Wizardmania tickets.

^ Back of the Yellow Brick Road set and a few pitchforks.

^ Back of the Yellow Brick Road.

^ Wizardmaina munchkin costumes.

^ Down the steps to the stage door.

^ Bulletin board inside the stage door with the call sheet, announcements, birthday wishes and more.

Again sorry for the lighting, the small camera flash does nothing in a huge empty dark theatre. If everyone’s interested I could probably take and post a few more in the coming days if I have time. Let me know what you think.

Thanks!

P.S. The sets and all images of them are all copyrighted, so I would appreciate it if you didn’t use these images for anything else with out my permission. Thanks!!

Is the "Elphaba lifter" the 'Defying Gravity' lift? In all the other productions it's not under the stage, but it would make since to have it under the stage since it's so heavy.

i think he/she meant its where the lift things goes up, like from that location.

did you see any costumes? or the lift?

no the actual lift part that she stands in is under the stage. saves a heck of alot of space backstage.

It is on the tour and I'm assuming other productions. But if I remember correctly, it comes from the floor on Broadway.

I saw the huge hydrolic lift backstage in LA. It wasn't under the stage there. Its a HUGE black thing - looks exactly like a cherry picker truck. Ya know like when they fix telephone lines. It's massive!

Wow! Thanks for posting those pictures! I'm oddly fascinated with the whole backstage part of it all. Things tend to be so different.

awesome pix.

The part she stands in comes out of the stage. The actual hydrolic lift is hung above the stage until it is needed. It is in two parts. At least that is what I was told when I went backstage on Broadway.
