By show of hands, who's going to see Wicked in Germany within the next year?
If you're voting in this poll in the affirmative,
please reply to this post. I'd like to have a head count of individuals.

I'm not going to see it. I can't even leave the country and I don't understand German.

I really want to see it. I love the German language, and I'm in process of learning it at the moment.
Unfortunately, a trip to Germany would be too costly for me and my family.

I would if I could - I still want to see it, period, but in German would be a treat. That, and I've always wanted to see Germany.

I will go and see it, don't know if I will enjoy it though as I am German (I live in London though) and don't like what I have heard of the translations so far. On the plus side, quite a few of the performers that work in Germany aren't native and their diction can be awful at times, so I might be lucky and not understand most of it anyway! lol

I think they're going to change the lyrics until November anyway, that's what I've heard.
I don't think they're too bad - I mean, "Rent" was far worse. (:
I'm definitely going to see it; I am from Germany, still live there and I already have tickets for the 10th of November. Can't wait!

I'll see it probably in November. I'm very curious what it's like in German though I fear I might not like the translation. :?
@Sagom: In the bigger productions, the principal characters are usually played by Germans or people who speak German very well, due to the diction problem you mentioned. So we'll probably understand more than we want...

But we will know what there saying
we watch wicked in english long enough to understand the german language in wicked

Of course you will understand most of what their singing, even though quite a bit of the meaning of the lyrics will be changed to make sure it flows well with the music. There will probably also be lots of changes to the actual dialogue, some of the jokes just wouldn't work if you translated them literally, so they will make up something completely different.
At Elphaba79: :ha: Understanding more than we want made me laugh! Yes indeed, I am afraid we might! :ha:

I'm waaaaay overexcited about this aspect of Wicked!Germany.
Elle, dear, you do realize that the woman singing the songs in all the available clips isn't actually the person who'll be playing Elphaba, though? Much as I'd love her to be... *le sigh*
But, yeah, totally going. Possibly more than once, especially if Joel Fram stays on for a while. 'Cause... I fangirl Joel. A lot. And I wanna see Maria do CJ's track. And stuff.

I just booked my tickets for the 17th. But since I only live one hour by car away from Stuttgart, it'll be surely not my last time to see the show, if I like it.

I must admit I'm not yet excited about seeing the show in Germany... Has nothing to do with the cast, I think I'm just too much in love with the London production.

No I'm not.
I'd rather spend money and go to the US to see it there before I see it in another language.
And tbh, I think even after that, I still don't think I'd go to Germany when it's in London.
Plus, for me, going to London is a "big thing" where as those who live there might be more interested in seeing the German production to make it more of an occasion like London is for those of us who don't live there.
There is some logic in there, I swear! lol

I would like to see it but I'm kinda worried about the language. I do speak/understand some German but I don't think it is enough to understand all the jokes and stuff.
So if I was given the choice (and the money) between Stuttgart or Broadway, I would pick the latest.

I'm also going to take the train up to Oberhausen to see Tanz Der Vampire

Wow, whereabouts do you live?
Not that I can talk about distance, I'm from Australia

I saw them on January 3rd - I was on a round the world trip and luckily Stuttgart is on the way to London so I was able to make the stop! Personally, I think it's the best production in the world after the Australian one... yes maybe I am biased xD But I did actually think Willemijn and Lucy were both the very best witches I have ever seen.

I live in the U.S...Michigan to be exact lol. Oh no doubt Lucy and Willemijn are the best. Germany hit the jackpot with their witches. What day of the week did you end up seeing them?

I was there on a Saturday... we had tickets for the evening performance, then we went to the theatre at midday to check out tickets for the matinee and got a pair of cheap seats for that too and I am SO GLAD. Willemijn and Lucy TWICE in the one day - incredible

YAY for definitely seeing the Stuttgart production! *squeels*

For Wicked we bought a youngt-ticket, 5 June, seat 8 & 9 I believe (to the side, but I don't care. FIRST ROW

)
Lol, the telephone was quite an experience because the ticket-person (how do you call that?) didn't speak English very well and we had to spell the name/address and stuff
PLUS Tanz der Vampire about a week later, row 15 seat 1&2 with student discount.
I am SO HAPPY right now!
Pure excitement
