Ich weiß wirklich nicht, wie die Deutsche Produktion laufen wird. Ich kenne keinen dort, der den "Wizard of Oz" kennt. Obwohl es immer wieder behauptet wird, dass Wicked auch ohne die Geschichte vom "Wizard of Oz" verständlich ist, glaub ich das nicht wirklich. So viele Witze in der show sind darauf basiert. Außerdem ist der "Wizad of Oz" ein solches Phänomen in Amerika und in England, weshalb auch Wicked so beliebt ist. In Deutschland ist das nicht der Fall. Ich hoffe wirklich, dass die deutsche Produktion gut laufen wird, aber irgendwie glaube ich das nicht wirklich.

Viele Leute hier in Deutschland kennen den "Zauberer von Oz". Als ich klein war, habe ich den Film oft gesehen.
Es sind auch schon viele Karten verkauft und ich denke, dass Wicked in Deutschland gut ankommen wird.
Ich bin gespannt...

I had never seen the Wizard of Oz before I saw Wicked. And I love the show! That's why I know you don't have to know the WoO to be able to enjoy Wicked!

Yeah, of course you can love Wicked, even if you don't know the Wizard of Oz, but still you don't get lots of allusions...
e.g. the sentence "There's no place like home" (or German [just sticking to the topic ] " 'S ist nirgends so schoen wie daheim."), which Elphaba says in the Musical, is quite a significant sentence in the WoO. Or Glinda's bubble....

Yes, that’s true, but then you often don’t know that it is an allusion, so it doesn’t matter. ;-) E.g. I never wondered why Glinda was travelling in a bubble, she just did. I found the “Lemons and melons and pears”- joke a bit confusifying, but that’s all. I just fell in love with the story & the music and I think lots of other people will, too! And I think I read somewhere that the references to the WoO will be changed a bit so that it’s not necessary to know the film.

So, to go back to German: ;-) Ich denke, es wird kein Problem sein. Es darf halt nur nicht so viel damit geworben werden, dass es die Prequel zum Zauberer von Oz ist, das könnte vielleicht einige Leute abschrecken, die den Film nicht kennen.

Ich denke auch nicht, dass Wicked in Deutschland weniger ankommt, weil es etwas mit dem WoO zu tun hat. Im Gegenteil, ich glaube, dass Wicked hier sehr gut ankommen wird. Ich finde nur, dass es witziger ist, wenn man den Film kennt und demnach auch die Anspielungen versteht. Aber auch ohne WoO ist WIcked großartig, zweifellos!!

Hier wird also Deutsch gesprochen? Cool. Dann füg ich mich hier mal zu.

Ich war mit meinen Eltern, die WoO nicht kennen, in Wicked, und sie waren absolut begeistert. Es kann also auch ohne funktionieren. Ich denke (und hoffe) daher auch, dass Wicked hier in Deutschland gut ankommen wird. Genug Werbung wird ja gemacht!

LOL. Sorry, but "Wurf" isn't the right translation in this context. The German word "Wurf" is a possible German translation of "cast". But in German "Wurf" means the same as English "(the) throw". The German word for "cast (theatre)" is also "Cast" or "Besetzung".
