As of a couple of days ago, there were no new pics in front of the theatre. I'll check again this weekend.
As for Caissie's age, I believe she is 26.

Nothing really new from when I saw her on Nov 20th and on that day Emily was with her. (Her "melt" in TWAI is still my favorite) As far as reviews go I leave those to the experts (like you) because mine would pretty much suck!

okay...I need to rant...and I dont wanna create a WHOLE new thread on it so I will put it here cuz this thread is about Caissie.
I am getting really sick of people bashing Caissie. And she has been in the role for only a few weeks. IMO the only reason people are bashing her is cuz she took over for everyones precious Eden. People really need to understand that Eden is NOT in WICKED anymore. I love Eden, I miss her but I realize that DING DONG she is not playing Elphaba anymore. Everyone is treating Caissie like she came in and kicked Eden out...when in fact Eden decided to leave ON HER OWN ACCOUNT! God, Shoshana didnt face this much critism when she had to do go on for Idina EARLY. I think many Eden fans are being idiots. I just read a comment on youtube that said somin about Teal along the lines of "Teal should take over. She sounds JUST like Eden and portrays the character just like Eden" OY! people, its time for some variety in LA. It would be boring as hell to have someone play the role the same as Eden, not that Eden was boring (Lord she was amazing) but to have someone come in and sound like her would be boring. Caissie is a breath of fresh air. She is
A: NEW! Almost 95% of the OLAC were people recycled from other productions
B: She is young, and has room to improve. And to tell the truth...when I saw Eden as a standby...she wasnt good. I'm sorry she wasnt. She was okay but she had alot of probs with the score. When she took over..she did a AMAZING job. But Caissie was amazing when she went on AS THE UNDERSTUDY. And is still improving and growing day by day.
Bottom line is, I'm getting sick of Eden fans. Not all, I'm not saying everyone on this site is a crazed Eden fan but IMO many Eden fans either want Eden back, or want someone who can "copy Eden" instead of actually opening their minds up and seeing that Caissie has TONS to offer in the role.
And go ahead, bash me for my views but that is how I see many fans acting. Whatever happened to WICKED fans? Have we misplaced the MAIN MESSAGE OF THE VERY SHOW WE ALL LOVE?? To respect other people's differences? Cuz alot of fans seem to forget that, and if an actress dares to be a little different then the person she takes over for, then the whole fricking realm of fans go nuts.

Caissie came to LA after nearly a year in the ensemble on Broadway understudying Elphaba. While I completely agree with the rest of your rant, and have made similar comments (which pretty much just fall on deaf ears here), I just wanted to point that out before one of the Caissie haters decides to come in here and do it instead.

I see your point. It's refreshing that they brought in someone who's never been in the role full-time as opposed to recycling someone like Shoshana (nothing against her, just the first name that popped into my head...must've been the rumors).

I just wanna make one little comment. Many people don't enjoy Caissie for different reasons besides replacing Eden. For example, i miss Eden and am thrillafied we have someone new. I think Caissie is a great actress and looks gorgeous. But it's just that i don't enjoy her voice. It's not that "it's not Eden's voice" it's just because i don't enjoy it! Not because "she's not Eden"....i miss Eden, but i know we need to let her go! But i'm not gonna go to far into this since i haven't seen Caissie live, so i'll just finish my opinion once i actually see her live, which i really want to! She may change my opinion!
degeorgetitanic
Jan 20 2008, 12:37 AM
^ Yes, go see her live you wont regret it

but its all a personal taste in music, if you go on the-site-that-shall-not-be-named and look on a thing-that-if-i-mention-i-will-be-kicked-out of Caissie, you'll see that prolly the biggest reason why she is bashed is cuz people dont want Eden back. Also her vids dont do her justice. i'm just saying to everyone who bashes Caissie...see her LIVE before making a judgement. IMO, if you judge a performer off a bootleg, you shouldnt consider yourself a Broadway fan nor a WICKED fan.

I third that. I saw a video of Caissie singing The Wizard and I and didn't watch anything else before I saw her becasue I had some mixed feelings about her from that first video. When I saw her live, on stage, in person, it was unlike ANYTHING on YouTube. YouTube or whatever definitly does NOT do that woman justice! Her voice is so different in person, so powerful, strong, controlled...That's why I don't watch so many clips anymore. I don't want my opinion of future casts to be biased...

You know just looking at her web site and seeing all the rave reviews by critics should of been the tip off that she is something special. Maybe some people who didn't know her got turned off that she was "only" an understudy on broadway. I dunno why she got a cold reception in her (actually yes I do) but if she would of been a more established "wicked" name she would of been embraced with open arms.

I just didn't know who she was at all! When I found out that she was coming to LA, I did my research, and the first thing I saw were the reviews on her websites, which were rave! From then, I was just uncertain because I didn't know her. I was expecting a "household name" if that makes any sense (you know..the Idinas, the Shoshanas, etc) but let me tell you, from the first time I saw Caissie (rush onto stage at the end of "NMTW"/beginning of "DOS") I loved her. And she hadn't even spoken yet! She just had that "vibe"...as lame as that might sound. She connected to me and I've loved her ever since!

ok random story!!! now dont call me a stalker or anything.....but this morning i was riding the metro on my way to Borders and I had to get off at the Hollywood and Vine stop (my favorite because it faces the Pantages!).
So i get off and as I am walking up the escalator to the surface there is this girl in a pink scarf and a black hat kind of running up behind me. i kind of do a double take because she looks familiar and as she ran by me i thought "hmmm....that face. i know that face. I....omg! Caissie?!?!" Sure enough as I walk out of the station I see pink scarf girl run across the street into a van that was parked outside the theater.
Was it for sure Caissie? I don't know. But if it was....how cool that she takes the LA Metro. No one takes the LA Metro! ahahahaha

I have once. The first time I saw Wicked we took the Metro from somewhere (I don't remember exactly) to the Hollywood and Vine stop. I didn't know until then how close the Metro is to the theatre! It's pretty spiffy! We came up the stairs and I was like, WOAH! There's the Pantages!!

I'm too lazy to write a review...ha ha! Not to mention busy - I'm hardly ever on here anymore. I loved the show though! It had been awhile since I last saw it so it was nice to go again. And yes, her acting was really impressive...she had a youthful enthusiasm at the beginning and made the act 2 transition that was phenomenal. I especially liked how she interacted with the other characters...something that had been missing in some other Wicked performances I'd seen.

Well, I'll just take that as a review!! Her acting in this show (the only one I've seen her in so far) astounded me. Her presence in the background, when she wasn't featured is even more impressive. There was not one time during the show I saw her in when she broke character. Not that most of the actors do, but she reacted beyond anything I would have expected!

I do not think it is right for people to bash Caissie. I think she's a great singer and a good Elphaba. The only thing is I really think that the producers of "Wicked" should've given her more time to be a standby for Eden. From what I've heard Caissie only went on a few times for Julia and she did one week of performances for Stephanie when she was in Italy for her wedding and honeymoon. Then she did only 2 or 3 performances when she was standby in LA. I've heard though now she's improving more after every performance. I'm sure she'll be terrrifc eventually. There have been Elphabas who were standbys for a long time and when they took over the role they were great like Dee, Carmen, and of course Eden.

I think Caissie's acting is what Idina's would have been like if Idina had replaced Eden. (Does that make any sense whatsoever?)

Allen, take my word for it: this girl is amazing! I'm almost sure you'll LOVE Caissie! Of course, everyone has different opinions, but if you go in from an audience member standpoint rather than a critic (I tend to go in as a critic after I've seen the show once...I am guily of that and am trying to fix it!) and watch/hear her character you'll see that Caissie was definitly the right person to come to LA. When I saw her, I was surprised that she hadn't gone on for Elphaba more in New York, or even been a stand-by in New York!

I think the best thing about Caissie is that she's SO different from Eden, so even if you like Eden better, you really can't even compare the two because their takes on the roles are so different. I also feel like they both have different points in the show where they really shine (for instance, Eden's "No Good Deed" always ALWAYS gave me chills, whereas I really think that "The Wizard And I" is Caissie's strongest point...it brought me to tears because her Elphaba is just SO hopeful in it). They both rock, just in different ways!!
Wow, that was rather gushy from me. I'm in a good mood today.

I agree with you and Caissie's "melt" in The Wiazrd and I is the best one I've ever heard. Wow, just like Caissie's Elphaba you were hopeful and gushy in your post. Don't worry, someone will say something lame in some thread (count on it) and then you can spring into action!

I totally agree that Caissie's best song is TWAI....she is adorable when she does it. I saw last night but poor thing was still tring to get over her cold. But it was her BEST DG I have ever seen.

I had a last minute chance last night to go to Wicked....It was Emily and Caissie. I just can not say how adorable Caissie is. She has the cutest getstures and facial expressions. She is really growing in this role. Also I suprised to see how much chemistry there was between Emily and Caissie.
wickedly dudley

I was there too and in the front row again as I won Lotto for the second time in a row and this time it was my name called and not my friend.

I saw Caissie on January 30th and she was good then, but this time she was really good. Her "The Wizard and I" was perfection! I agree she is really growing in the role. And she has such gorgeous eyes!
As for Emily I have now seen her four times to five for Megan and this was by far her best performance. Their chemistry was excellent and it was especially good in "WITF".
