Where did you see WICKED the first time?
In London when there were the fittings, when it already was clear that I'll play Glinda. Only the music and story I'd known before.

How did it feel?
Wow! Not till then I'd figured out how awesome my part is. Immediately I wanted to be that bold, glamorous soap-bubble princess. But in reference to the acting also the part of Elphaba appealed to me. As for the technique of singing Willemijn has to achieve day-to-day – it's incredible.

What exactly captivates you about your part?
Especially Glinda's impertinence which she releases greenly and perky. And her conversion to a responsible human, who has the heart in the right place.

How much of Glinda can you find in Lucy?
Without fail the talent to put my foot in it. And like her I am able to raise a laugh. But I'm not that affected.

The rich hunk Fiyero, Glinda's Mr. Right. Is he the kind of prey that also matches your preferences?
I'm more in line with someone who radiates ease. Because I'm rather hyper. A counterpart like that would be too much. But a hunk? Why not?

Would you like to have magical power in real life?
Yes! Especially if I take a look at my desk with all of the undone stuff I'd like to use a wand.

Is there anyone in your family where you've got your talent from?
Yes, my grandfather always wanted to become an actor, but never got around doing it. Times were different. And right at the moment I'm thinking of my grandmother (laughs) who always wanted to sing at Christmas which caused to alter the ambiance.

Which aims in life do you have?
First I enjoy my time as Glinda. But after that I'd love to work in the branch of film and acting. Let's see what comes next. It's just wait and see.

Willemijn Verkaik "Elphaba"

When did you see Wicked the first time?
November last year (note: 2006). I didn't have the foggiest idea, that I'll attend the audition.
The music has captivated me. At once I knowed: I have to see this show.

Did you directly be keen on the role of Elphaba?
Yes, that's really my dream part.

What's captivating you exactly?
It tells a great character. A strong an powerful woman, who has to fight in her live, but a woman, who won't be hard in her heart after all.
In the contrary. She has got a great instict, to detect good, she don't let exploit her. Less than ever for misuse of might.

How much of Elphaba is inside Willemijn?
I take to her dry form of humour, her personal qualities. Also, that she speaks her mind and that she shows her emotions.
Furthermore I like, that she' s grounded even so she likes it to fly.

The rich hunk Fiyero - is he also your private typ?
Not during act one. There he has not any self-reflection. But fortunately Elphaba helps him to get this. By her he grows and this
changed man I could suit.

Witcheries. Do you want it for the real life?
Surley there are situations, in which I would like to click my fingers and, hey presto, wishes come true. It starts with the big ones like to avert war, suffering, hate.
But also for personal reasons. E.g. if a blooper happens in a show. It would be gigantic, if I would have magic powers to stop something or to change things.

Is there someone in your family, from whom you had 'inherited' your talent?
My father has characterized me a lot. He always has sung, even if only semiprofessional. In the beginning, when I said to him, I'd like to leave
the conservatoire he was very disappointed. But finally I continued my study yet again.

Which aims in life do you have yet?
In job stuff I'd like to make progress, to be better still as Elphaba. Privately I'd really like to see more of the world.
