There are a bunch of full Gimp tutorials on Icon_Tutorial on LJ. They're pretty darn helpful.

Haha, alright. I am reading a full tutorial, but it is all so overwhelming. It's times like these where I realize how un-computer-savvy I am.

Maybe making graphics isn't for me. I don't even know how to get an image from Photobucket into GIMP, plus the fact that I have the patience of a gnat doesn't help either.

You have photos saved onto your hard drive right? You can just open them from there.

Alright. For some reason when I use my 'brush' it's like just a black marker-esque thing that draws all over my picture. How might I change this?

What are you trying to do with the brush? Brushes are usually used for effects, like the flowery ones in my banner. I wouldn't recommend using those until you get the basics down.

Okay, right now I am tyring to scale a picture and it won't let me get it to 150x150. When I type in 150 for the width the height automatically sets at 225.

Aha! You need to uncheck the box that will say something like 'constrain proportions' or something like that. Or actually on Gimp I think you click the little chain thing next to the boxes, so you can free-select.

On the toolbar there should be an A or some letter symbolizing text. You just click that.
