The same person who said that Lisa is coming to Chicago said that Julie will replace her as the Elphaba standby on Broadway.

Is that because Steph is hurt and needed another person as a fill in with Lisa leaving?

I don't know when Lisa is leaving for sure. If she does leave on the 11th and with Steph hurt they needed someone since it would only be Chelsea left unless Steph is healing up good(wishful thinking and hoping on my part since I want her to be there for Annaleigh's last)

Yes, I do think that it's absolutely awesome that Julie Reiber is coming back. It also proves that my prognosticating skills need some work.
I refer you to a quote from my review of the October 5, 2007 Los Angeles production, as posted on October 6:
QUOTE(Version Two @ Oct 6 2007, 05:38 PM)

And as for Julie…
Is she too good to be a standby? HELLS YEAH!!!
Should she get the lead in Los Angeles? No.
Before you shoot me, let me clarify. I think she should get the lead in the Broadway production. ... That being said, I certainly hope November 11 isn’t the last we see of Julie in the role (one can always hope she takes over for Stephanie J. Block).
I didn't get a few of those elements right, but she's coming to Broadway, this isn't the last we've seen of Julie, and she's taking over for Stephanie's standby. That's gotta count for something.

Not necessarily... I'm thinking that she may well be the replacement. I think that Kerry will probably only stay through September... a three or four month run, just like Idina's in London, since it's a reciprocal agreement that allows Kerry to perform at the Gershwin. Methinks that the standby ending date of September 21 indicates that Julie will be our 8th Broadway Elphaba. And if so... HELL YES. (But can she please be succeeded by Caissie and Carmen?)

Sounds plausible too me. If that theory comes to fruition then I don't feel so bad for her not getting the lead in L.A. Broadway can only hope she is the full time elphaba one day. She has to be the nicest person I've ever met at stage door.

May 1 2008, 04:44 AM
I would love for Julie to take over full time on Broadway for purely selfish reasons. It would make my half-correct prognostication almost perfect. It would also be relatively easy for me to see her perform again and again, as although I consider the Los Angeles production my home production, the Broadway production is a lot closer, and a lot cheaper to get to.

YAAAAY!
OMG congrats! Time to pop out my Julie Reiber banner! I love Julie so much and i'm THRILLED about this! She is out of this world amazing. I sent her a present (PM me if you wanna know details) and she sent me a thank you card in the mail, and i'm so touched she sent something back! She BETTER take over after Kerry! I need to get to NY.Hopefully she'll be on when i go. This summer is crazy. Eden in Rent, Kerry as Elphaba, Julie as standby, it's crazy!
Anyways, i am thrilled to shreds about this,i love Julie so much! Bway is in for a huge treat. You will not be dissapointed! Julie's acting is amazing, and amazing singing! She made the role totally her own!
Although i'm a bit jealous for bway right now. I miss Julie. Geez, all these announcments are amazing! Kerry and Kendra on bway with Julie as standby, Annaleigh and Lisa in Chicago, Caissie and Erin in LA. Just awesome!

OMG! Sorry... normally I'm not a crazy ZOMG type of fangirl, I promise. But Julie is my favorite Elphie and I was SOOO bummed when she left LA, so I almost peed my pants reading this thread. And I LOVE SJB, I truly do, but in June when I'm in NY if I were to see Julie's name on the understudy board, I might pee my pants. And later on in the summer... let's just say if Kerry has any sort of planned vacation I may well use the last of my frequent flier miles getting to NY. I can't think of anyone who deserves a shot at Broadway more than Julie. In another thread we were discussing being "Reibered", and how I wish Julie would instead be "Cusacked", and it looks like this may well happen.
AHHH!!!!
OK now.. caalm down now, calm down.

LoL. I got excited too when I heard that she was coming to Broadway. I have never seen Julie but it looks like I will be seeing her this summer. I live about 3 hours away from NYC but I'm there like every weekend. I too love SJB dearly and really miss her(she was my first Elphie and I saw her 6 times) but I like to see other ladies playing Elphaba also.

Chelsea's still there as understudy also. The way I see it is that they needed a new standby anyway since Lisa is leaving in May. It would only be Steph and Chelsea otherwise and with Steph being hurt it was better to bring her in now to get her rehearsed for when Lisa leaves.

I agree. I like Teal quite a bit, but prefer Julie. To me, Julie was the overall package, a great combination of performance and vocals (neither of which outshined the other, but both were strong). And while I do love Teal, I feel like her vocals are really powerful, but she still needs work in the acting department, and her vocals are outshining her performance. But she's SOO young, so it's something I know she'll develop in time. But, IMO, Julie came off as a more seasoned performer who's already developed quite a bit in both areas, and brings that to the table.
Oh, and I also agree with the general sentiment that it will be a tough act to follow Lisa, but, also IMO, Julie's ready to take over full time somewhere as well, and I'm hoping this is a step forward in that direction. Selfishly, I'd like to see her take over in LA after Caissie leaves, or go to San Fransisco, but I'm really happy for her going to Broadway.

Yeah, that video was promoting Wicked before it had even opened, so Julie sang that before ever even performing the role of Elphaba. So clearly, there's been dramatic improvement between then and now.

Word. I saw her at her first mid-show switch and most people had no idea, but for those who did they were like, "Wow Julie you were SO incredible" and she was like, "Oh my gosh THANK YOU SO MUCH!" and she gave them all like hugs and when people asked for pictures she would be like, "Wait, you want a picture with

Julie is such a sweetheart seriously. Also, you can see Julie sing TWAI on youtube from 3 of the 4 Wicked Wednesdays. Anyways, Bway is sooo lucky. LMAO, oh it'll be hilarious if Kerry does Act 1 and Julie Act 2 or Kerry calls out mid Act 1 and people see Julie and be like "Woah...Elphaba lost her accent there!" and Kerry's green is different than others so it'll be noticable. Hopefully it wont happen but you know...do you think Julie would have to do a british accent if she was filling in for her half way or act 2?
