I have always been a huge fan of the original story of The Wizard of Oz - ever since I was seven and a half. In the original story, my favorite character is the Tin Man. So when my best friend gave me Wicked for my birthday last year, I was immediately intrigued. Unfortunately, I was not able to read the book right away because I already had something to read. A few weeks ago, however, I was at a loss for something to read, so I picked up the book. I have just finished the book - today, in fact - and I thought it was very well written. My favorite parts were when you find out the Wicked Witch of the West actually had a name, and when you find out that the Wicked Witch of the East has a name, as well. I just thought it was cool, because I was so used to calling them "the witches." Now I can call them Elphaba and Nessarose when I watch the movie! My favorite Wicked character is Elphaba herself, because now I know her history. I have this strange feeling that when I watch the original movie next, I might not like the Tin Man anymore.
