This was by far the best performance I have ever seen of Wicked...no of anything. Willemijn changed my life, haha she was on fire and crazy and fierrcccee. I love how she whispers some of the lines it makes her sound so, wicked. I had to start the applause for her entrance..they didn't get it i guess.

After my bad experience last show in Chicago with a less than satisfactory glinda..Lucy made me smile laugh and love her. She was so perfect, and cute and fit the part. Stuttgart is lucky to have such a stellar cast. She hit that opt high note in No one mourns the wicked..finally got to hear that in person. She was absolutely flawless.

There was a fiyero understudy and OZ i didn't know until after the show. He was greattt. And gorgeous. Jens Simon Petersen was on and he was so good and had good chemistry with both lucy and willemijn.

Let me say i was freaked out when the monkeys flew over top of my head, did not see that coming at all. The streamers were outrageous and there were so many that we couldnt move them all until intermission.

Frei und schwerelos blew my mind. Willemijn flew to the top of my list, videos do not do her justice. She is my german idol, well her and pia douwes but she was amazing.

might add some later but my train is kinda early, gotta get some shut eye

GUTEN NACHT!

YOU ARE SO LUCKY!
Would you happen to have an extra playbill thingy? tongue.gif
Willemijn is the BEST. That's all there is to it.

they actually don't hand out playbills, it is kind of odd. You have to buy a stage program for 5 euro which is like over 7 dollars. I did grab quite a few phamplets about Die Hexen. It was such a good experience, if you're in germany, you have to see it!
FixatedOnVerdigris
I REALLY REALLY REALLY need to go!
GAHH MOMSIE!
By the time she says yes, Willemijn'll be GONE! sad.gif

EDIT: Any chance of a review? O:-)

Ok so I went to see Wicked twice in Stuttgart over the weekend all the way from Leeds.
I saw Willemijn and Lucy on Sat night and Willemijn and Jana for the Sunday matinee, both were sensational althought the second pairing were my fave, I shall write up a full review when I get home from work tonight

Ok so here it is, review as promised!!!

First off saturday 28th June
Willemijn Elphaba and Lucy Glinda

NOMTW: The costumes are brighter than in the London show and work well. The ensemble were excellent in this, really in character and was fun looking out for Moq, Nessa and Fiyero. Was a little disappointed with Lucy, she did not hold the notes in the song and seemed vocally quite weak.

TWAI: Willemijn rocked my world in this song, she was sensational, she has Elphaba down to a fine art, fully in character and just perfect. She was the right amount of cute and excited and does a wonderful jump on melt which was just ridiculously cute. Her notes were excellent and so was her expression. This was one of my faves.

WITF: Willemijn was hillarious in this, doing such a funny impression of Glinda putting her hand up and jumping up and down, so funny. She did some brilliant face pulling and her Blonde got a brilliant reaction from the audience.

DTL: Mark is really good, but feel we have been spoilt with Olli so noone can ever compare to him but was brill. Lucy overacted everything IMO and was equally irritating in this song. Moq was fab, the first time I have felt really sorry for his character. The dancing was funny. Willemijn has her own weird and wonderful dance which she does in a really heartfelt manner and she looks so amazed when they all dance around her, again perfect characterisation.

P: Lucy was too OTT in this but the whoosh whoosh ie toss toss was hillarious from Willemijn, she just kept doing it again and again and does a very funny head movement before it, preparing fully, so funny.

INTG: Sensational again, she pours her heart and soul into this number and looks so sad, really enjoyed it.

DG: WOW WOW WOW!!! Has this lady got a voice. Vocal perfection!!! Acting wise she made fantastic choices, the right amount of vulnerable and furious, was just amazing and when she went up I had goosebumps, her eyes telling the whole emotion of Elphaba.

TG: Not a lot to say, again Lucy for me did not hit the notes.

WWOTE: Great chanting and again great acting. Really loved Moq.

W: Wizard was not that good either, but Willemijn made up for it, could not keep my eyes off her responses, they were once again.

ALAYM: They have wonderful sexual chemistry, lots more snogs than in the London show and you could really feel a strong desire between Elphie and Fiyero, their voices were perfect together and it was heated and very sexual.

Catfight: Had to mention this, Willemijn was sooooooo witchy, he voice almost a whisper/snarl in places, although I could not understand what she was saying I could tell her every emotion, the slaps were brill and her laugh was immense. Very creepy and witchy.

NGD: Personal highlight, she really did show Elphaba losing her mind, inner torment and torture, her voice was out of this world, her anger there and her eyes, so captivating and powerful. Was brilliant!!!! No words to express how amazing it was.

FG: Surprised me that they did not touch until the end of the song, they did not seem to have much chemistry in this song, was sang well but did not touch the right chord for me.

F: Glinda did not seem sad to me that Elphie was gone, I dont know whether the interpretation is different but she just did not do it for me. Special mention has to be made for how sensational Willemijn looked in the outfit!!! Her final words in the song were heartfelt and strong, loved her!!!

General bits: I noticed a few differences though I would mention between London and Stuttgart!!!
There is a lot more reference to Dorothy, I dont know whether this is due to fact Germans dont know Wizard of Oz as well as us. Boq was called Moq and Madame Morrible was Madame Akabar. The monkeys fly over the audience when Elphie sets them free. Other than that pretty similar.

So good we went to see it on the sunday matinee too when Jana was on as Glinda and Willemijn as Elphie. Jans was fabulous and they had real chemistry, her voice was better and her popular was fab, special mention to the whoosh whoosh and kissing her shoes lots. Was brill.

Overall although Kerry is my fave overall Elphaba, Willemijn does it for me acting wise. She is Elphaba!!! She has the witchyness and Elphaba's character perfect and goes through all the emotional changes of Elphaba through the show and she never ever breaks character. I do prefer Kerry's voice and always will but I love growls. However Willemijn is vocal perfection and is outstanding!!!

If you ever get the opportunity to go you should, even though I dont understand a word of German I loved it loads and am definately going back before Willemijn leaves for she is without a doubt well and truly Elphaba!!!
Kind of Wicked
Nice that you liked Willemijn. I think personally that she is at the moment the strongest singer and actress in this role worldwide... I do not like Kerry that much and all the others cannot compare vocally with Mrs. Verkaik.

Strange what you say about Lucy... probably she had a bad day... normally she is the one who rocks the show and nearly steels Elphaba the show with her brillant Glinda.
Shenaz
Yep.. Can't understand your judgement about Lucy either since in the two shows she totally rocked the house and I think she's one of the best Glindas. She must have had a bad day.
Teal-Shade-of-Eden
Man, I wish I could see Willemijn in Stuggart! She sounds so amazing on the cast recording! I listen to the Stuggart recording WAY MORE than the Broadway one! I want to experience Wicked in a different language... a French production would be so amazing-- yet hightly unlikely. sad.gif

I've been hearing talk about them coming to Broadway in 2010. Does anybody know if this is true?
