Not really a question, but some random Elphie hat trivia:
Elphaba has three microphones. One in her wig, one on her cheek and one in her hat. Many (if not all) lead Elphabas have two hats: a regular hat and a "fight" hat for the Catfight, so that when Glinda tosses it to her the microphone isn't damaged.
Each Elphaba hat is different from each other, much like the Act II gown. Originally, the fabric was a dark navy blue with lighter spots on it. Recently, the hat fabric has changed to a snake-skin like fabric that reflects blue and violet. The first Elphaba to have a newer style hat in America was Caissie Levy.
The European hats are different. In London and Germany, the hats are visibly smaller.
Eden Espinosa has used the same hat since she was a Standby on Broadway.

The sitdown hadn't started when the tour was in Chicago.
That I know. What I meant was that they obviously filmed that when the sitdown had already opened, yet they still used SJB for the interview. If Stephanie was already out of Chicago and touring, why didn't they just use Ana, who was the Chicago Elphaba at the time?

I'm pretty sure it was filmed when the tour was at the Oriental.

I love costume trivia.... Wicked costumes are so interesting - they're changing (although not always dramatically) all the time.
Edit: I remember reading about this, but had no idea if it was true -- is it true that a new tour of The Wizard of Oz stage musical (I assume the stage musical of the MGM film?) had Glinda in blue, instead of pink? (kind of Wicked related as it'd be - IMO - trying to tap into Wicked's popularity.)

That's what I had originally assumed, but when they zoomed out, the set was far more complex than the tour's.

If I recall correctly, the original tour set became the Chicago set. They left the tour set at the Oriental for the sitdown and built a new set for the tour.

Yup, they do! She even comes down in a similar bubble.. Haha. The Emerald City costumes look similar, too.

Are you sure? I was 16 when I did the lotto for the tour and they still asked to see ID. I know there were some little kids (like 10-ish or so) that won, and they just had their parents show ID, so I'm not sure if they just went by if you were old enough to go lotto by yourself or what...

I'm 13 at the moment, (but everyone says I look 16-17ish. It's weird, like... I've been asked if I was a college graduate) But that's off topic. Anyway. They were perfectly fine with my dad just showing his ID.
Then again, a student ID, or even a ski ID (Seriously Ash? lmao, I find that really funny for some reason) would work.

Yeah, no kidding

I'd been planning this trip with my brother for over a month, and he had promised me all along that he had a school ID. Of course, the night before we leave, he can't find it...so in a scramble, the only thing I can find with his name and photo on it is his ski pass. We figured it was better than nothing, and the lotto guy said it was fine (though it was irrelevant because I won the lotto and not him...all about the power of positive thinking, but that's another story, lol).

They did the same with Erin when she moved from Chicago to LA. She also had longer wigs in LA. I have no idea why they would bother making new wigs...that's got to be expensive.

Did they? That's so weird. And yeah, it seems like it'd be expensive... do they do that with dresses, too? I know the dresses have been changing a bit but I can't imagine they'd remake the dresses if the same lead is just moving to a different production.
My instinct for the wig says they changed it so it would be more in line with the original show (Kristin's Galinda wig was never uber-curly, or at least not ringlet curls until Glinda) but it just seems like an odd thing to bother with. Especially since a big thing with Kendra was playing with her hair a lot. But maybe someone knows if there's an "official" reason, lol.

Jan 28 2009, 03:53 AM
Weren't all Glinda's given a straight wig? I thought it was just a part of the show, as I know Erin's changed, Kendra's, Megan's, etc. Glinda originally had a curly wig for Popular, but now they all have straight wigs. I don't know any who have a curly wig.

Jan 28 2009, 04:03 AM
^But hadn't she left by the time the whole transtion was made? Cause she had it the entire run of LA, if I'm not mistaken. There was just a time period where every wig became straight, and during this transition, I think she was ending her run, or had just finished, so the producers wouldn't have needed a new wig anyways. I wouldn't think they'd change her wig towards the end of the run, probably just let her finish her contract out without any hassle. But I could very well be TOTALLY off.

EDIT: I love that pic of her, btw.

I think because the producers wanted to go back to a wig style that was similar to Kristin's and would fit to the INTG lyrics "Gold hair with a GENTLE curl" These curls were extremely curly!
My question: Has Wicked been in 4 places in CA? And how many times and for how long(i'm including future stops)? Please help me with how long, i only know WHERE:
San Fransisco Tryouts, San Fransisco Tour, San Fransisco Sit down, Los Angeles Tour, Los Angeles Sit Down, San Diego Tour #1, Sa Diego #2, Orange County
Is that correct? Wow. For how long have each of these (including the future SD stop and not counting the SF sitdown) been playing?

Well, I can see why each Elphaba gets her own Act II dress. Yes, it's expensive, but dresses like that are near impossible to take in and there is no fabric to "let it out" so to speak, they're tailored so precisely.

The reason they make new costumes and wigs for every performer is because of Equity rules. You're not supposed to wear a costume worn by someone else, you're supposed to have one made specifically for your use. Instances can vary in the cases of standbys or replacements who are close to the size of the previous performer.

I thought the rules were that each actor had to have their own underclothes. So they couldn't share the green leotard thing. But actual costume sharing was okay.
