How does Nessa's chair move by itself?
The chair is computerized and controlled by a technician back stage. I think it uses the same technology that the boat in POTW uses and perfected.

I guess I have a random question, does the person who plays Nessa also have an Ensemble role? And are they always an Elphaba u/s?
In LA, the Nessa is in NOMTW, as I think it is with every production. I know it's like that in Chicago and Broadway as well. And there's always an Elphaba u/s. There's usually one standby and then at least one understudy, with the exception of the time in Chicago when there was a standby and both Dany'elle and Jennifer were understudies.
Also, how come sometimes there are usually two Glinda understudies, and then a standby? (ex. B'way, LA, OLC)

Why do people always clap after the cyclone is projected, Fiyero backs away into the distance, and a loud crash is heard? I never understand why... but I always end up clapping too!
Also, why are there so many unreleased production photos? Why can't we get our hands on those... and obviously get larger versions of the new Tour, Chicago and LA pics. Why can't Joan Marcus just set up a site with her Wicked pics up...? Aren't they legally hers?

The applause is most likely due to the fact that the scene is finished and there's a blackout. It's common theater courtesy.

I agree, I think it's mostly a courtesy thing whenever the stage goes dark for a scene change. I've seen the show 9 times, and 8 times out of 9 people clapped. The one time people didn't, it really bothered me, because you could hear Glinda running on stage in her heels (because she really has to book it to get in place so quickly!), so in that specific spot it's helpful so you can't hear the quick scene change going on

If I'm remembering correctly, when I've seen it in Chicago, there's usually not been applause at this spot. It seems to me that the Chicago crowd are some pretty reluctant clappers in general.

Personally, I clapped from excitment. But I was so freaked at finally seeing Wicked live I probably would have clapped at anything.
About the production photos, Joan doesn't own them, I don't think. She was just hired to take the photos.
Also, could someone post the sites for the production photos for the separate cities, like Chicago and London? Because when I try to look them up, I just get the Broadway site.

Question: Is Defying Gravity in the same key that is on the OBCR? It sounds a little bit lower, but I'm not sure.
EDIT: Ok I wasn't so clear--in the current productions, is it the same as on the OBCR?

Nessarose was Michelle Federer and I think Fiyero was David Ayers.
Not sure of the date of the show.

It was January 8th 2006.

It was also David's, Michelle's, and Rue's final shows.
And you can look in the Cast Replacement History threads for in each production board, by the way.

Does anyone know which-if any-Wicked cast members have asthma? Because according to the crazy fans we're all afraid of, they all seem to. If you comment on how Idina sounded off, someone will almost always reply, "She has asthma!" Another will reply, "No, she doesn't," and it's a big argument. The same thing has happened to Helen Dallimore, Julia Murney, and Kerry Ellis.
As far as I'm concerned, until the actor has comfirmed it herself, it's bull. Has anyone admitted to having it? Because that had to come from somewhere.

That's probably some stupid excuse from the fangirls/fanboys when one of the actresses has an off day or something. I mean, so what if Idina sounded a little iffy on a performance of DG--she's human. She's gonna have an off day. It doesn't mean one needs to get all defensive and act like she's not. (Human, that is.)
Unless of course, the actress has actually stated that she has asthma, it seems like an excuse.

^Yeah same here. There are two different types of fans: Professional fans, and fangirls/fanboys. IMO, The first choice is the wiser choice. For example:
Professional fan:
Other person: You know, I don't really like Eden. I think she overdoes it with her riffs.
You: Really? I love her riffs! That's totally your opinion though, I don't mind!
Fangirl:

You: OMG! I can't believe you! She's amazing! You're just jealous! And her riffs only sound bad sometimes cuz she has asthma it's not her fault!!!11!!!!

Very random question: in "I'm Not That Girl", one of the lines is "he loves her so I'm not that girl" (deliberate lack of punctuation).
My question is about the semantics there; is it "he loves her and so/therefore, I'm not that girl"? Or is it "he loves her so [much]; I'm not that girl"?
Just a little thing, but I've been wondering for a while.
