Making a thread for this wasn't necessary, but no, Helen's accent doesn't annoy me.
Maybe your American (I'm assuming) accent bugs other people who are from different countries because it's so different from what they hear. Try to pay more attention to her portrayal and not so much the accent.

Maybe your accent would bug her.

No, it does not bug me in the slightest because I am paying attention to the flawless acting that is happening onstage rather than her accent. Funny you say it is so thick considering it isn't even her real accent. She is Australian.

Helen's on Broadway?

Wow...seriously...
As Glinda she spoke with an English accent as did the rest of the cast.
And why is this in the Broadway section? Afraid the London fans might eat you?

No, her inability to stay on key in No One Mourns the Wicked did.

I doubt it - have you seen the dental work they have there? (it's a joke!)

Wrong post
No bashing cast memebers.
Cast members from MANY productions have accents,so don't single out Helen.
And NO one except Me, MD, Randomer, and others heard her REAL accent /voice on the 13th....now THAT was scary but great

Since we are all kind of harch here I will continue.
At least Helen held out her notes and sang and spoke with a vocie that don't want you to rip your ears of as oppsoe to others (not naming any names). IMO
Now move this over to the London section.

Yes, not only did her accent bother me but so did her singing and acting. She's probably the most annoying Glinda ever. But that's just my opinion.
edit: I apologize, no more bashing from me. (olive branch)

And this was necessary why? The title of the thread is "does Helen's accent bug you a little?" Not... let's just insult everything about Helen's portrayal. If someone did that to your favorite, it wouldn't be so great for you.

Weird... discussing a cast member of the LONDON cast... in the BROADWAY section...
The logic here is?...
I'm a so-so fan of Helen, honestly. Her accent is just how she wanted to play the role.

Listen, all of these Glindas and Elphabas are so talented. Afterall, they got the part. It's true that I don't like Helen's voice or portrayal of Glinda but I do respect her for being selected over so many others to play the part. I just have to show a little more respect for all of those who have played the parts or are currently playing the parts...even if I don't like their portrayals.
To the London cast fans, I apologize for going after Kerry and Helen so much. They are both very talented and deserve everyone's respect...including mine.
For the person who made this topic, please consider asking the moderators to close this and that it was a mistake. I know I wouldn't like it if someone made a thread specifically bashing Eden, Megan, Idina, Kristin, etc. It's just not the right thing to do. We should be celebrating all of these talented and gifted actors.
Again, to all the Helen and Kerry fans, I apologize for going after them in the past...won't happen again.

It wasn't the accent that bothered by, I actually am i huge fan of the british accent, or any accent for that matter, it was just the tone of Helen's voice that bothered me. Too high pitched and nasaly. Otherwise she was an AMAZING actress. And yeah, why is this here?
