I was a little dissapointed when I got to the evening show as I had seen the matinee too and Jana had been on, I was hoping then to see Lucy but alas, it didn't happen.
Matinee was good, they stopped the show twice, once because the Witch's father and mother's microphones didn't work, they finished NOMTW, curtain went down and then they went back to, "Are people born wicked...". They stopped it again after No Good Deed (Gutes Tun) because Willemijn was stuck in the trapdoor the whole song, so she sang it from there with the stand and book on stage the whole time. They stopped the show, got her out and carried on with March of the witch hunters.
Ok....
Willemijn: I was blown away to be honest, her vocal skills are like nothing I have heard before, it was completely effortless, but while remaining absolutely mind blowing. Her Wizard and I was single handedly the best Wizard and I, I have heard and (I've heard alot
Jana: I was dissapointed that Lucy wasn't on both shows, but Jana was great, her acting ability really shone through in No One Mourns the Wicked, she looked so distraught but when she thought someone was looking at her, she had this really forced smile, it was great. Her singing was great to, her soprano is beautiful but her belt is what really impressed me, especially on the "I couldn't be happier" at the end of Thank Goodness, because I know alot of Glinda's sing it in their headvoice (bar Kendra and few others). It was really powerful and beautiful.
Mark: He was good, but I think in London we have been a bit spoilt with Oliver. I mean Mark was fantastic as Fiyero, his voice, dancing and acting were all very good, but nothing really can compare with Oliver IMO.
Maitze Switzer: She was the Nessa u/s we had and I didn't care for her until the "Lost your heart" section of WWOTE but then she was great, she was also very tall, which made Boq (or Moq!) look even smaller which was very good.
Barbera Raunegger: She was a good Madame Morrible, her singing was good and I love how the word "hexe" sounds at the end of the DG speech, it's really haunting.
Carlo Lauber: Very small and very forgettable with only a so-so voice.
Hope you enjoyed my brief review, stage door pics to come!
