QUOTE(RockTheSoul @ Sep 23 2008, 01:40 PM)

Updating, cause I'm bored.
Fiyero
1. Kyle Dean Massey - you would have never guessed he was an understudy! I really enjoyed his performance.
2. Kevin Kern - great acting, great vocals, and a really fresh/unique interpretation that was great!
3. Aaron Tveit - vocally, he blew his competition away - such strong vocals. Acting wise = generic.
4. Derrick Williams - overall, his performance was great - both dancing, singing, and acting.
5. Clifton Hall - saw him twice and I just felt like something was missing overall.
Madame Morrible
1. Alma Cuervo - overall, she played Morrible perfectly - just the right amount of creepiness.
2. Jayne Houdyshell - so creepy as morrible! great intensity in the role!
3. Carol Kane - she was good, but nothing stood out in her performance to me.
4. Kathy Santen - she was good but her interpretation was sort of forgettable.
The Wizard
1. Ben Vereen - love love love him! great stage presence and great performance all around.
2. PJ Benjamin - very good overall, but nothing singlehandedly stands out - just a solid performer.
3. Lenny Wolpe - he played the wizard almost TOO fatherly throughout the entire show.
Nessarose
1. Deedee Magno Hall - ahh, hands down the strongest Nessarose ever, imo - her vocals are great.
2. Jenna Leigh Green - loved her acting and she had an overall very good performance.
3. Cristy Candler - i was a tad disappointed - her vocals were lacking and she overacted a bit, imo.
Boq
1. Robb Sapp - i loved him so much - he was brilliant as Boq
2. Alex Brightman - i really enjoyed his performance overall - good chemistry with Cristy.
3. Ben Liebert - very great chemistry with Cristy, and had a very solid performance!
4. Brad Weinstock - it took me a while to warm up to him as Boq - not bad, but nothing stood out to me.
Dr. Dillamond
1. Sean McCourt - love him, great acting and he played the part very solidly.
2. Timothy Britten Parker - he was great! One of the first times I actually enjoyed Dillamond's character.
3. Tom Flynn - very solid performance overall - had a somewhat rememberable performance
4. Steven Skybell - very good, but nothing special in the role - somewhat forgettable.

Fiyero:
1. Oliver Tompsett - I've only seen one Fiyero. Why is Oli NEVER away?! Either way, I love his vocals, especially his DTL riffs, though his acting could do with some work.
Madame Morrible:
1. Harriet Thorpe - absolutely love her, the woman's such a legend.
2. Aileen Donohoe - her Morrible was really different to Harriet's, a lot nicer, but still quite sinister and creepy underneath
3. Nadine Cox - I love her and hate having to put her last, because she wasn't bad at all, but when I saw her it was only my 2nd time seeing the show so everything was still too new to me to really notice her Morrible much.
The Wizard
1. Sam Kelly - love him, his Wonderful had me in stitches and his Wizard was actually scary at some parts.
2. Sean Needham - I thought he was really good, and I liked seeing a younger Wizard, he seemed a lot more energetic.
3. Desmond Barrit - I don't hate him, but of the Wizards I've seen he was definitely the weakest singer and his Wizard was a bit too nice for the role.
Nessarose
1. Natalie Anderson - she's not the strongest singer, but her singing's improved every time I've seen her and I just love her acting, it more than makes up for the parts where she's not able to belt it quite as well.
2. Caroline Keiff - vocally, she was definitely the best, and I really loved her, I just preferred Natalie's portrayal.
Boq
1. George Ure - weirdly enough he was my first Boq but he really stood out to me then, I adored him.
2. Alex Jessop - love him, and he has great chemistry with Natalie.
3. Jeremy Legat - it took me ages to warm up to him. Boq's just not the same without a northern/Scottish accent.
Dr. Dillamond
1. David Stoller and Andy Mace - TIE - can't really choose between them, they're both very similar and equally good.

Fiyero
Oliver Tompsett - He's the only Fiyero I've seen, and tbh, I can't complain. His acting isn't great but his singing is amazing and he is gorgeous!
Nessarose
Caroline Keiff - Her WWOTE gives me chills everytime. I just think she's spectacular. I really wish I could have seen her Glinda.
Stevie Tate-Bauer - There was nothing really wrong with her, I thought she was really good actually. Although she didn't look very Nessaish.
Boq
Jeremy Legat - I don't know, there was just something about him that stood out for me.
Alex Jessop - I love his northern accent, I think it really suits Boq, however, his performance wasn't too memorable and he was the most recent Boq I've seen apart from his MOTWH which was very good.
Morrible
Harriet Thorpe - Legend. That is all.
Aileen Donohoe - She was very good, but seemed alot nicer than Harriets Morrible. She's lovely at the SD too.
Wizard
Andy Mace - Brilliant.
Sean Needham - I liked the younger Wizard.
Desmond Barrit - Not very memorable.
Dillamond
David Stoller and Andy Mace - Tie. They played the role equally well.

Updating mine because I've seen some new people/changed my rankings for some others.
Fiyero:
1. Oliver Tompsett
2. Gregor Stewart - really didn't like him. I thought his voice was good (nothing compared to Oli's, though), but his acting was awful. He plays Fiyero way too posh and uptight for my liking, and he didn't seem to have any chemistry with the rest of the cast. His dancing was fairly cringey, too.
Madame Morrible:
1. Harriet Thorpe
2. Aileen Donohoe
3. Nadine Cox
4. Shirley Jameson - she wasn't awful, but she wasn't particularly memorable. Her vocals are good, but she was lacking in stage presence and I barely noticed her on stage.
The Wizard
1. Sean Needham - moving him up to first because when I think over it, I just liked him more overall! It's pretty close between him and Sam, though.
2. Sam Kelly
3. Desmond Barrit
Nessarose
1. Natalie Anderson
2. Emily Tierney - loved her, overall I thought she was brilliant. Vocally I think she's stronger than Natalie, and her acting's great, too, and so is her chemistry with the rest of the cast.
3. Caroline Keiff
Fiyero3305
Feb 6 2010, 05:21 PM
Fiyero
1. Richard H. Blake- Great acting, he really fleshed out the character and made him more on par (in terms of a role) with Elphaba and Glinda
2. David Ayers- Absolutely loved his acting and dancing. Not a great voice but he embodied everything the character should be.
3. Sebastian Arcelus- Never really became Fiyero for me, but an ok voice.
4. Cliffton Hall- Didn't care too much for his acting at some points, but others were ok. Good energy though. More or less on-par with Sebastian though.
. . .
5. Kristoffer Cusick- annoying voice, boring acting, and lazy dancing
Madame Morrible
1. Carole Shelley- Matronly when necessary and absolutely evil when the time comes.
. . .
2. Randy Danson- Again not as evil as I would have liked (haven't seen many who have been able to capture that as well as Carole) but a goo performance.
3. Myra Lucretia Taylor- Very funny, yet still not over-acted. Perhaps not as evil as I would have liked.
4. Barbara Robertson- Alright portrayal but a little too over-acted for my tastes.
The Wizard
1. Gene Weygandt- Very "Grandfatherly" and not quite so malicious
1.5. Richard Kline- Made the Wizard appealinng and showed how Elphaba could really be taken by him, but also showed hints of darkness. It's a tough toss-up between him and Gene for me.
2. George Hearn- Very sinister, fantastic voice, now that the Waltz is gone his lack of dancing doesn't matter much
3. David Garrison- A little more flighty than the others, but still very good. Great dancer.
4. Lee Wilkoff- Meh. Just meh.
Nessarose
1. Michelle Federer- Intense, sorrowful, amazing.
. . .
2. Brynn O'Malley- Very sweet and not exactly what I imagine for Nessa, but she convinced me with her portrayal.
3. Jenna Leigh Green- A little more bratty than I'd like, but still a great job.
4. DeeDee Magno Hall- Phenomenal. Not as intense or strong as I think Nessa should be, but wonderfully acted.
5. Heidi Kettenring- Too angry, too over-acted.
Boq
1. Logan Lipton- Great voice (for a Munchkin), and a quirky, and deep portrayal.
2. Ben Liebert- Kind of on par with Logan. Very funny with a good voice and a sincere performance.
3. Brad Weinstock- Nothing I didn't like about his performance, but I didn't love him like I loved Logan or Ben.
4. Stanton Nash/Jeffrey Kuhn- I like and dislike parts of their performance equally.
Dr. Dillamond
1. William Youmans- Just perfect. Pretty much the most goaty of all the Dillamonds.
2. Timothy Britten Parker/Tom Flynn- Nothing particularly good or bad. I think I like Tom a bit more though.
. . .
3. K. Todd Freeman- Very boring, seemed passionless, didn't even do a goat voice, just didn't seem to be trying.

Fiyero - Colin Donnel – I adored Colin in the role of Fiyero – he had a very belty and pitch-perfect voice with a very masculine interpretation and lots of stage presence.
- Jared Zirilli – Jared did a great job as Fiyero; he had a more quiet voice than most but it was very smooth and enjoyable; his acting was well done; the only thing I feel he should work on is some of his line readings – some in Act 1 came off a bit bland.
- Cliffton Hall – Cliffton did OK as Fiyero; his voice was soft but good, but I was a tad bored by some of his acting choices.
The Wizard - Lenny Wolpe – Lenny was fun as The Wizard – he was quite a ham, which I really enjoyed, and did nicely with the little vocal material that is available for the role.
- Richard Kline – Richard perfectly found the line between over-hamming the Wizard and being boring, and to top it off, he had a very nice voice. Definitely enjoyed his take on the role.
- Tom McGowan – Tom was a tad boring for my taste in the role – I felt like he could have hammed it up a bit more. Vocally, he was a bit off.
Madame Morrible - Myra Lucretia Taylor – Myra will be very hard to top for me as Madame Morrible – she was absolutely hysterical at the beginning but perfectly made the transition to conniving villainess in Act 2 – amazing performance and bundles of stage presence.
- Randy Danson – Randy did a good job in the role; she was a tad over the top at the beginning for my tastes but by the middle of Act 1, she was doing an amazing job at portraying Morrible.
- Marilyn Caskey – Honestly, I was a tad bored at times by her interpretation of the role – she was very benign and not evil enough. She still moved the plot as she should, which is really the most important part of Morrible.
Nessarose - DeeDee Magno Hall – DeeDee was great in the role of Nessarose; she has a killer voice and made you feel so sorry for her during Acts 1 and 2 – even when she turned evil, it was clearly an act of desperation instead of anger, which I thought was a nice choice.
- Jacqui Graziano – I thought Jacqui did very well as Nessarose; her voice was solid and her acting was very strong – she was more sweet and quiet than most in the role, and her “Lost Your Heart?!” section was bone-chilling.
- Kristine Reese – Kristine did a very good job in the role; she’s a bit more reserved and bitter from the beginning making her Act 2 transformation rather haunting and scary – to top it off, her voice is gorgeous.
- Brynn O’Malley – Brynn was a fantastic Nessarose – like Jacqui she was more subdued than most but her voice was stellar and her acting made you really fall in love with her.
Boq - Justin Brill – Justin was amazing as Boq – his voice is clear and loud and his acting was perfect – not boring but not over the top.
- Brad Weinstock – Like Justin, Brad found the happy medium between boring and spastic, but Justin had a slightly better voice, in my opinion.
- Ted Ely – Ted was a tad less exciting than I like, but he’s enjoyable and has a nice voice.
- Kevin Samual Yee – Kevin’s acting was OK, though like Ted it wasn’t too exciting, but his voice was a tad quiet for my tastes – however; he did a nice variation in “March of the Witch Hunters”.
- Zach Hanna – Zach’s best aspect was his voice – it was very strong; however, I felt a tad bored by his acting choices.

Updating now that I've seen the new cast (though I'm leaving making any kind of judgement on the main witches for a little while, once they've settled in. And these could very well change once I see them again). (Edited to include Lee since I can't be bothered to do a whole new post, lol)
Fiyero:
1. Oliver Tompsett
2. Lee Mead - nice voice, though I thought his DTL was a lot stronger than his ALAYM since he did some weird riffs in that. Dancing was a bit shaky but will probably improve since it was his first night, acting was solid but nothing unique, a lot of his line deliveries were pretty similar to Oli actually.
3. Lewis Bradley - a little too posh for my liking and a bit lacking in chemistry with the rest of the cast, but I liked him. Nice solid voice, good dancing, and decent acting.
4. Gregor Stewart
Madame Morrible:
1. Harriet Thorpe
2. Aileen Donohoe
3. Julie Legrand - I felt she never really became evil enough, but all round she was pretty good and I enjoyed her, and she had some nice little unique mannerisms.
4. Nadine Cox
5. Shirley Jameson
The Wizard
1. Clive Carter - blows the others out of the water. Absolutely amazing. London's best sung Wizard, and the best dancer, too. He's a very charismatic Wizard and I found him a lot of fun to watch, especially since I usually get a little bored in the Wizard's scenes.
2. Sean Needham
3. Sam Kelly
4. Desmond Barrit
Nessarose
1. Natalie Anderson
2. Emily Tierney
3. Caroline Keiff
4. Cassie Compton - nothing in specific wrong with her except that I enjoyed the other three more, she has a great voice, I just found her a little too cutesy in the role and not particularly interesting to watch.
Dillamond
1. Julian Forsyth - it's hard to rank since I'm not sure if he was necessarily better or worse than David or Andy, just different, which is never a bad thing. I think he slightly has the edge, though - I liked seeing an older, gruffer Dillamond. To be honest though, they're all about equal, it's hard to differentiate between interpretations of a goat.
2. David Stoller/Andy Mace TIE

I feel like everybody listed here has immense talent; this is all subjective based on how they played the roles, not on their overall talent.
Fiyero - Richard H. Blake - Richard was absolutely amazing as Fiyero - his vocals were smooth and perfectly on pitch, and his acting was perfect.
- Colin Donnel – I adored Colin in the role of Fiyero – he had a very belty and pitch-perfect voice with a very masculine interpretation and lots of stage presence.

- Jacqui Graziano – I thought Jacqui did very well as Nessarose; her voice was solid and her acting was very strong – she was more sweet and quiet than most in the role, and her “Lost Your Heart?!” section was bone-chilling.
- Stefanie Brown - I loved Stefanie as Nessarose; obviously, her voice was amazing, but her acting was also fantastic - she was so happy in Act 1, and even in Act 2 she wasn't that angry with Elphaba, more frustrated that she couldn't help - and even if she could, would she really want to? Fantastic job!

The Wizard
1. Lenny Wolpe - so very fatherly. Your heart pained when the great realization at the end of the show struck him. Some actors try to do the alleged evilness of the Wizard, when the whole point is that he's an average, everyday person with no real power. Lenny nailed this and the role in its entirety perfectly.
2. Don Amendolia - very comical, and brought to attention the political themes the character contributes to the show.
3. PJ Benjamin - bored, seemed very complacent and too power-hungry to actually care about fatherhood.
Fiyero
1. Kevin Kern - excellent acting, great chemistry with Nicole Parker. Fiyero's popularity did not seem a surprise either in his portrayal.
2. Chris Peluso - I know Fiyero is supposed to be carefree, but Chris seemed a little too much, if that makes any sense. His tone in Act I was almost constantly "I don't care, whatever..." He did step it up in Act II, however, and I was overall impressed with his performance.
3. David Burnham - boring, dry, and absolutely no chemistry with Stephanie J. Block. You wondered how Fiyero was so liked. There was no personality there at all.
Madame Morrible
1. Marilyn Caskey - this woman could genuinely scare you. Working with Don Amendolia's Wizard quite well, the political undertones of the show were brought to attention with her power-hungry Morrible.
2. Carole Shelley - Carole was my first Morrible, and therefore most of her performance is lost to memory (and the first time seeing the show you typically aren't critiquing performances anyway). I do remember liking her performance though, and the show I saw her in was her last.
3. Rondi Reed - good, but nothing about her portrayal of the character really stood out. Generally predictable.
Boq
1. Alex Brightman - at this performance of the show I felt a fairly strong connection to the character. Alex's Boq seemed like a very likable character and his story was truly tragic. It pulled at your heartstrings, and that's what Boq's tale should do.
2. Zach Hanna - good acting and fantastic vocals. He particularly drew my eye during Dancing Through Life. He was making little gestures the entire time during one of the dance breaks. I thought this was a nice character choice. Boq didn't really know what to do and therefore resorted to awkward spazzing out.
3. Logan Lipton - seemed a little bored and his Boq a little too self-confident.
Nessarose
1. Michelle London - very similar to Alex Brightman's Boq, she made you feel for the character. Pulled off Nessa's first steps quite well.
2. Cristy Candler - I have no complaints. She made very strong choices and committed to the character.
3. Briana Yacavone - overall a nice performance. She seemed a little too reserved. Maybe that was simply a character choice. If it was, however, it wasn't evident enough that it was. I still can't figure it out. I did particularly enjoy her portrayal of Nessa's first steps. She played up the pain very much and seemed to understand what was happening to the character.
Doctor Dillamond
1. David De Vries - superb chemistry with Anne Brummel. You realized just how much of a relationship Elphaba and Doctor Dillamond had. I got chills when the scene with Morrible happened and Dillamond just acts like there's nothing wrong. And his "You're not being told the whole story!"...spine-tingling.
2. Steven Skybell - nothing really to complain about. He seemed secure in the role without being complacent, which is a very nice quality to have.
3. Timothy Britten Parker - seemed to rely too heavily on the comedic potential of the role when what defines Dillamond's character is his opposition to the oppression of the Animals. The only thing memorable about Timothy's portrayal was his fart sound in the pronunciation of Galinda's name. That should never be the case.

Fiyero
1. Richard H. Blake- I enjoyed everyting about his performance. He was overall package for the role. Terrific voals, excellent acting, solid dancer, and great stage presence. He's also one of the nicest people I've ever met at a stage door.
2. Derrick Williams- Once again I thought he had everythig you'd want in the role. However, his acting wasn't as strong as Richard's.
Wizard
1. David Garrison- Terrific singing and excellent stage presence. I also thought he made execellent acting choices.
2. Richard Kline- I liked he played the Wizard as very kind but he also made it clear that the character was also a con-man. The reason why I ranked David higher was because Richard didn't have as much stage presence as David.
Madame Morrible
1. Jayne Houdyshell- This was a tough decision, but I ranked Jayne higher because she understood the charatcer more and showed a much darker side to Morrible which was required.
2. Carol Kane- I liked everything about her protrayal except that she didn't play the charatcer as darker as Jayne.
Nessarose
1. Jenna Leigh Green- Loved everything about her protrayal. I could not find a flaw in her performance.
2. Brynn O'Malley- I really enjoyed her performance when I saw her. She played the character as very young and made the troubles Nessarose went though very clear. I just thought Jenna was a better singer and made stronger acting choices.
Boq
1. Justin Brill- He played the charcter as very kind and had an excellent singing voice.
2. Logan Lipton- I enjoyed him, but Justin made much stronger acting choices.
Doctor Dillamond
1. Tom Flynn- Terrific acting and singing.
2. Timothy Britten Parker- Very solid acting and singing, but I just thought Tom had a stronger portrayal overall.

FIYERO:
1. Oliver Tompsett - Just perfect.
--GAP--
2. Lee Mead - Okay, but I kind of forget he was there sometimes.
--MASSIVE GAP--
3. Andy Karl - Tbh, I was lost for words at how bad he was.
NESSA:
1. Caroline Keiff - Stunning vocals and acting.
2. Natalie Andersson - By far the best actress.
3. Jenny Fellner - Good, just not the best.
4. Cassie Compton - Think I need to see her again to make a proper judgement.
BOQ:
1. Danny Mac - So adorable, but it's hard to believe Glinda wouldn't fall head over heels for him. He's too gorgeous.
2. George Ure - Scottish accent. Enough said.
--GAP--
2. Alex Brightman - Really good voice.
3. Alex Jessop - LOVE the northern accent.
4. Jeremy Legat - I've liked all my Boqs, but someone's got to come last.
WIZARD:
1. PJ Benjamin - First time I ever laughed at the wizard, after 7 shows.
2. Clive Carter - Best London wizard, by far.

3. Sam Kelly - I liked him, because it was funny when he spat.
4. Desmond Barrit - I was bored because he looked bored.

Nessarose:

2. Emily Tierney
3. Caroline Keiff
4. Stevie Tate Bauer - I'm sort of in two minds about Stevie. Her voice is fantastic and her Act 2 Nessa was brilliant, probably one of my favourite Wicked Witch of the Easts, but she definitely looked too old in Act 1 and since she doesn't play it young (she plays Nessa quite bitter and angry from the beginning) it was definitely hard to believe her as Rachel's younger sister. I did enjoy her, though.
5. Cassie Compton
Boq:
1. George Ure
2. Danny Mac - loved him! Loved his cockney accent and how dorky and geeky he made his Boq (although he's just so all round adorable and good looking that I really can't fathom why Glinda would turn him down!). He has a great voice, too. I'd really love to see him get promoted to lead, he's clearly put a lot of thought into how he plays Boq because he adds so many little mannerisms and stuff, he's great!
3. Alex Jessop
4. Jeremy Legat
Dillamond:
1. Gareth Chart - He made me laugh at one point by doing something completely unexpected and funny, which is the main reason why for now, he gets number 1, since by now I usually pay no attention to Dillamond! Apart from that, he's about the same as the others. Although he baaaaas more like a little lamb than a goat.
