well she must of.....if she was the standby.....thne there was no way Idina went on EVERYNIGHT for all the time she was there ((even though she should of jkjk))

She definately went on a few times. I know she went on in October of 04, I dont know if she went on any earlier than that.

I suspect she probably would have been on, becuase standby's would be given a chance, so yeah if not i think she'd have been on anyways.

I think i read somewhere she did actually go on, i just don't remember where, sorry.

She had to of gone on before. Idina is great and all but I doubt as well that she went on as much as we think she did. Sho is great!

Yep, Sho came on as standby sometime early October and went on at least a few times that month and a few times in December.

I've heard that Idina RARELY missed a show...that it was a really big deal when she didn't go on. But, I would guess that they would have to let standbys go on at times. Although, I don't know much about theater...

I believe it was the night before her last she was doing the melting scene and stepped into the trap door that was to lower her down but it had already lowered some so she fell and broke her rib. That's why Shoshana was Elphaba on "Idina's Last". Idina came out at the end in a red tracksuit and walked off with Fiyero.

It was the day before her last show, and what was supposed to be her 3rd to last performance.

there is a post somewhere...maybe on unexamined-life...but someone had a list of dates that she had gone on and there were quite a few. standbys, especially for elphaba usuallly go on for the matinees becasue that is a hard role to do night after night and not ruin your voice so a lot of times the actress playing elphie will actually opt out of some shows just to save their voices whether sick or not>

yea^^^ one of the reasons idina left was because it was runining her voice....listen 2 how she breath's on the Rent movie soundtrack

Idina is my exhibit A: if you listen to her voice at the begining of wicked she can hit huge high notes amazingly but towards the end she starts gasping for air and needs to sing through her nose to hit high notes and her DG ending is actually a little lower then when she started.

Shoshana was the standby after Eden left in mid '04, so she should've gone on quite a few times.

But a note about Idina: since she RARELY missed performances, she was doing matinees and the evening performances without adequate rest. It wasn't until the middle of her run that she finally started taking off, but only because she got sick very easily. That would explain the gasping--girl was sick! And about the Rent movie: they didn't give her that much time at all to recover after she left Wicked, so of COURSE she didn't sound her best. Just wait until March--that's when the cast recording of See What I Wanna See comes out and I can guarantee you that you'll hear her sing some notes you never thought could come out of her mouth!
