my mom got pulled for lottery. two right front seats in theatre. (there are 4 seats total in the very front, we had the 2 on the right, center)...amazing seats. amazing show.
stand outs = mitch jarvis, wesley taylor and lauren molina. OH, and of course the leading two, constantine maroulis and amy spanger. but my faves by far were wesley, mitch and lauren.

Hey.. What's the theatre like? Is it smaller/more intimate like Avenue Q or ITH where you can really sit anywhere and see the faces of the actors great, or more like Wicked, where if you're farther back, you're screwed? My friend wants to get tickets and I told her I'd help her out but I've never been to this theatre.

I think the only bad seats in the house are the lotto seats. And those seats are TERRIBLE.

I really wasn't gelling with this show.
As previously posted Lotto seats are epic fail...but easy to get we got ours 30 mins before the show.
The show was just pointless.
A few cas members shone out mainly female ensemble and leads.
The beggining with the air over the face deffinatly made me burst out laughing and scraemed "NO GOOD DEED" to my friend.

However, I realized the Olympics were during this time, and I live in Vancouver, so I doubt I'll get away.

Saw the show last night. I liked it. It wasn't my favorite show I've seen but it wasn't the worst by far. I won lotto - my seat was row E seat 7 and NOT partial view (the sides of the orchestra were all pretty much empty). Standouts for me were Kerry, Constantine, Lauren and Katharine Tokarz.

I DVRed Rachel Ray from this morning and they let this woman sing on the Rock of Ages stage. They found out that her dream was to sing on Broadway one day so they made it happen. She began singing "Don't Stop Believing" and then Kerry and Constantine and the rest of the cast came out to join her. It was really touching. There might be a video of it online somewhere soon.

So I just got back from today's matinee of Rock of Ages, and to make a long story short, I was super-impressed!
In a little more detail...I lost the Wicked lotto (again...) and decided to hop over to the Rock of Ages lotto because they draw names 30 minutes after Wicked does. Everybody won (I would know, I was the last name called...) for $26.50 tickets. Now I know they don't give away the front row seats, but the tickets didn't seem bad to me at all. I was in the front mezzanine, and I thought the view was fantastic.
Now I walked into this show with little in the way of expectations, because I had heard a lot of people say that it was no plot and mostly just 80s rock songs. Well I knew some of the songs, but was worried I wouldn't connect with the show for not knowing others. Also, I've generally hated shows without much plot (eg Hair), so I was very worried. However, it turns out that this show DOES have plot, it's just nothing that's going to win awards for genius writing and ideas. But set the fears aside, there is a plotline to the show. And I found myself recognizing 80% of the songs even though that's not really my music genre, and I enjoyed the other 20% anyway. I thought the cast was really just stand-out terrific (it was full cast except for Katie Webber being out), they all clicked really well and seemed to be having a fantastic time doing the show. I definitely found myself laughing a lot and clapping along with the music, it was definitely a blast. So if you're like me and miss a lot of the "feel-good" shows that have closed on Broadway in the last couple years (9 to 5, Legally Blonde, Young Frankenstein, Spamalot, etc.), then I think this show is DEFINITELY worth giving a chance. If you're on the fence with this one, I definitely say give it a go!

Thanks

It's opening in Toronto on the 20th, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to see it, given the cast's performances at Dundas Square during the New Years' festivities...That and the fact that the Sherrie is Elicia Mackenzie, who is fresh out of playing Maria in The Sound of Music, after winning the Webber casting competition (like I'd Do Anything). I don't know if I can believe her in this role after Maria, but we'll see. Maybe rush seats.

I just got back from seeing the tour in Boston Tonight and the show was unfreaken believable. Everyone in the cast was fantastic but Rebecca Faulkenberry (Sherrie), Nick Cordero (Dennie Dupree), and Patrick Lewallen (Lonny) were the stand outs. Constantine was great as Drew especially with his vocals, but i felt like he was lacking some emotional backing to the character. There is really no other way to describe this show or review this show but its awesome, everyone needs to see it. Let me know if you have questions!
