You know that show on TLC?
Yep, she had her 18th baby, a girl, named Jordyn-Grace Makiya Duggar
The Duggars now have 10 sons and eight daughters.
Jim Bob Duggar said Michelle started having contractions Wednesday night. She needed the C-section, her third, because the baby was lying sideways. Jim Bob said both baby and mother were doing well Thursday night.
"We both would love to have more," he said.
The cable network TLC broadcasts a weekly show about the Duggars called "17 Kids and Counting." Chris Finnegan of TLC — which handles public relations for the Duggar family — said the show's name would be updated to account for the latest addition to the family. He said TLC also will air a show Monday on the baby's delivery.
Jim Bob Duggar is 43, a year older than his wife. Their oldest child, Joshua, is 20.
The other Duggar children, in between Joshua and Jordyn-Grace, are Jana, 18; John-David, 18; Jill, 17; Jessa, 16; Jinger, 14; Joseph, 13; Josiah, 12; Joy-Anna, 11; Jeremiah, 9; Jedidiah, 9; Jason, 8; James, 7; Justin, 6; Jackson, 4; Johannah, 3; and Jennifer, 1.
"Our whole family is excited about Jordyn's addition to our family," Jim Bob Duggar said. "She's just perfect in every way."

^^^^ I saw that!!!
They talked about how dinosaurs were all vegetarian until Adam and Eve disobeyed God and then they started eating meat........... yeah... uhhhh.....
And also, how their son and his fiancee couldn't even kiss and had to like ask permission to hug or hold hands. They saved their first kiss for their wedding day..... and they had to have a chaperone anytime they were going out somewhere by themselves. And they drew names out of a hat to see which kid was going with.........

Haha I saw that one too. I came in during the middle of it, right when he proposed, and I thought that is so strange, she's not even kissing him or hugging him or anything. And then they went on to explain their whole philosophy. And read the bible while driving.

Their parents married when Michelle was 17 and Jim Bob was 19. (Her mother had to officially sign permission.) After birth-control pills were blamed for a miscarriage, the couple decided to throw them out. They've had a new baby approximately every 18 months since.

So is anyone else watching the special? I think it's called A Very Duggar Wedding...it's about their oldest child (I think he's about 20) getting married.
I'm watching, and I'm awfully confused....So first, this couple is getting married, though they've never even kissed? Also, she lives in Florida and he lives in Arkansas, and it gives no indication to how they know each other, how they met, how long they've been dating, etc. I don't know, I'm happy for them an all, but something about the courtship of this couple seems...off....

I know it's a religious Christian thing to not kiss until being married... But I honestly just don't get how you could marry someone without ever having at least kissed them before! I mean... what if you have no sexual chemistry/physical attraction. It does in fact matter in a relationship...

I am sorry, but the Duggars are so backwards I could vomit. The eldest son molested his sisters? Yeah, that's not normal. Not to mention the fact that they will not allow their daughters to attend college. They are vile.

I have a strange fascination/obession with the Duggars. JimBob and Michelle are disgusting, but I like most of the kids. I'm sure at least one of them will break away and hopefully write a tell-all book. I'm pulling for Johannah. She's my favorite! It's just so sad that these great kids have so few opportunities in life because of their parents' twisted beliefs. Btw, I'm pretty sure the molestation rumors were never confirmed or denied. I'm not sure what I believe about that.
Yeroismyhero
Dec 8 2009, 05:25 PM
Whoa, whoa, whoa, what molestation rumors? I hadn't heard anything about that. Yes, this family is different from a lot of others but they all seem happy. Just because it looks weird to us, doesn't mean it is for them. They had a vision for how they wanted to raise a family and they're doing that. I'm not saying I don't find some of this stuff quite odd but to each their own.

Dec 8 2009, 09:29 PM
They all seem happy because they've been brainwashed. The Duggars go beyond extreme beliefs. They run a mini cult and do not allow their kids to think for themselves at all. It's really sad. Michelle and JimBob are free to have all the kids they want and to choose their beliefs, but they should allow their children to choose their own beliefs and life paths as well.
imaginarypeanut
Dec 8 2009, 09:43 PM
Yeah, I think the main issue I have with them is that they're preventing their kids from ever developing the ability to think for themselves. I mean, have they ever properly experienced cultures and beliefs other than their own? And the sexism bugs me quite a bit as well, I really feel sorry for the older girls.

Dec 8 2009, 09:47 PM
The term cult is a very serious term. Yeah, they are very different from any 'usual' family. But its their life and their family and they can do with it what they will. I don't know that brainwashing is quite the right term either. Is that to mean that all religion is brainwashing? They teach their children to live by the Bible and God's word... what is so wrong with that? And they don't allow their kids much t.v. or computer time but that's not necessarily a bad thing either. Kids these days are spending hours in front of a screen... its acting more of a babysitter than anything. There's many other activities they could be doing.

Dec 8 2009, 10:15 PM
I've read a lot about the Duggars and I would say that "cult" and "brainwashing" are correct terms in their case. The leader of their cult is Bill Gothard and they are also members of the Quiverfull movement.

I don't know much about the Duggars, so I won't say how I feel about how they raise their kids, and sorry if you know this already! I'm just trying to share what I know

But based on the anthropological definition of "cult," all religions are "cults." Our society has put a lot of connotations with that word, but cults are not necessarily as bad as we make them out to be sometimes. So the Duggars in a way could very well have their own "cult."
Hope that was helpful

Again. I mean no disrespect.
Yeroismyhero
Dec 9 2009, 12:16 AM
^^No, that's ok, not offense taken. I just know that cult is a strong word and its hard to use it lightly. I just don't think anyone should jump to conclusions to say that much without knowing the family personally. A lot of this is hearsay. And maybe it is true but still... its how they are living their lives and raising their children. From what we see on the show, the kids are very happy and they do get to do a lot of normal activities. They help each other out etc...
ForGood
Dec 9 2009, 01:02 AM
They're not allowed to dance, listen to music, or socialize with other kids that much. They try to pass themselves off as a typicial conservative Christian family, but they're not. They don't even hug each other normally because the girls might "defraud" the boys, aka the boys have to be protected from having urges. Because of course all men/boys have zero self-control and will become sexually aroused by hugging their sisters. Michelle does almost no housework. It's the older girls who cook, clean, and take care of the younger ones. They're not allowed to date, move out, go to college, pursue their interests, or even have interests. The kids are uneducated because their parents are so selective about what they learn. I have no problem with homeschooling in general, but the Duggars take EVERYTHING to the extreme. As I said, the kids seem happy because they've been brainwashed and they don't know anything else. I rarely talk about this, but I was raised in sort of a cult myself so it hits close to home.

I truly believe they have been brainwashed. The kids robotically spout their parents' extreme, twisted beliefs without knowing why they believe what they mean. I did the same thing until I was 18. On another note, I am glad Michelle and the baby are okay.
