OK so! Yes I did see the show Wednesday, and no I don't care because it's closing. tongue.gif

The lotto was pretty packed, I'd say like 100? I'm awful at judging numbers, though. Didn't win, but got a standby ticket: row L. Great seat! I was the most concerned about AA being out because I was dying to see her one last time from up close, and she'd been out a lot this week, so it never even crossed my mind that Dee would be out lol. I was a little disappointed because you can never have too much Dee, but I was thrilled to be able to see Jenny before next Sunday!

Jenny: This was my first time seeing Jenny. WOW. What a voice!! That girl can BELT! Her voice is really clean, and she does some small, unique riffs (which are fantastic) but doesn't overdo it by any means. She also has really interesting phrasing. Like she all the lyrics didn't fall where they were supposed to, but it really worked. It gave a lot more emotion, like she coming up with them on the spot. She had a small issue with the last note in WAI. She rushed through the "and", and it sounded like she didn't get a very big breath so I was a little worried from the start lol. But she only left off a beat or two. Her acting is really strong. I've read that a lot of people say she's a very angry Elphie, and that's probably an understatement lol. She was scowling since DOS. Anger aside, she gives a really believable and heartfelt performance. This girl DEFINITELY has some star potential and could grow into a fantastic Elphie if she had the role full time!

Annaleigh: I love this girl. Plain and simple lol. I can't decide if I'll miss Annaleigh or Dee more haha. Annaleigh was TOTALLY hamming it up today! I haven't seen her in a while so I don't know how "new" some of her antics are, but she did a ton of new stuff today. What I completely love about AA is she is SO comfortable on stage and looks like she's having so much fun. She kept cracking herself up today lol. Popular was hilarious, which I'll get to later. She also took for-ever while decided what she was going to do to "express her outrage", making Jenny, Kris and herself laugh lol. Annaleigh also had a lot of tears today, she was audibly sniffling when Barbara does her "listen here Missy" in MOTWH and was crying in For Good, which I'll also get to later. tongue.gif

A few notes about the general show:

Popular: Not sure if it was because Jenny was on, she's got just about only a week left, or she was just bored, but AA was NUTS! She kept audibly sighing which was hilarious, and as for "all because of me", she went down into the splits and appeared to be stuck, and just sort of rolled forward and eventually ended up in a downward facing dog pose lol (yoga? anyone?). Once she was standing straight up, she said under her breath "oh my". After the ballgowns, she threw the wand back and put on some sort of accent? She said "just wear the frock its predddie" which seemed to catch AA off guard, thus making herself crack up. She composed herself facing her shoe rack and you could totally see her shoulders shaking from laughing so hard hahah. Basically, I love Annaleigh lol.

For Good: Tears from both of the girls, it was really sweet. Annaleigh's voice was shaky when she first started singing, as was Jenny's. They both looked like they were having a little difficulty getting through it. Maybe because this might have been Jenny's last show (knock on wood)? Anyone know if she went on for the eve performance?

Anyhoo. I'm SO glad I was able to see the show today!! I'm sure I'll add more later, I always forget that I remember about three or four days later lol. Let me know if you have any questions. smile.gif

EDIT: Ooh I forgot to add a small blooper! As Ted came running out right before DTL, he totally wiped out. Like when Boq runs after Galinda and then has to quickly change directions to run to far stage left? Ted completely slid and hit the floor mid direction change lol. No one in the audience really noticed, or at least no one laughed, but AA and Ted were giggling through their next few lines.

Also, Don was on for K. Todd. I really liked his Dillamond at first, but he was really...emotional lol. Like he cried when he turned the chalkboard over, when he bleated for the first time, when he had to leave Shiz, and when Dee uncovered him in Act II. I mean I'm all for getting into character, but this was a bit of over kill.

Lotto'd and lost for the matinee, lotto'd and won for the evening show. Easily there were well over 200 hundred maybe 300 people there!!!

The evening show was quite good! And, Dee was on!!! Sam.....maybe we should have switched....I was secretly hoping to see Jen as I saw her name on the understudy board. I did feel rather bad though as you could clearly tell that all of the principles were clearly sick. They were all nasally in their speaking voices.....but it really didn't seem to affect their singing voices too much. n fact, if I hadn't seen the show as many times as I have...I would have never noticed. It was so evident even with makeup that Kris was flushed and just singing and dancing his little heart out. Again. to the "untrained" eye I am sure it went unnoticed. Typically, I am not a real Kris fan...but after last night, I have a whole new respect for him. Popular was quite funny as both the girls had the giggles. In fact...Annaleigh really had Dee downright laughing. I am sooo gonna miss those two in that number!!! Annaleigh was sobbing in For Good...and Dee had visible tears running down her face. Both struggled to actually sing through the tears. It was so touching!!! You could tell that Dee really had to fight to keep it together.

The only blooper of the night was one of Kris's fabulous book tosses that hit waaaaayyyyy up high .....even Annaleigh got the giggles form that one!!

I am thinking everybody must have went straight home after the show and snuggled with their Nyquil!! I am sure they are all looking forward to a much needed day off!!! I sure hope they all get to feeling better soon!!!

^You have the BEST luck with the lotto!! I haven't won in months! Hahah let's team up next Sunday tongue.gif. Kidding. Do you think Annaleigh sounded sick? I thought she sounded great, but I guess I wasn't really listening too hard.

Amazingly her singin voice was fine!!! The only little thing I really noticed was that she didn't hold the notes out as long as she really does. But her speaking voice sounded as though she had a little bit of a nasally thing going on!!

It really just shows the dedication and talent of all of these performers!!

And why is this now in the closed productions? Do they not know we have a week until it closes!!!!!!!!!

Great review Sam. I too am kinda jealous that you got to see what is probably Jenny's last Chitown show. I was actually talking with her today before the show about how much I had wanted to see her again and she mentioned that she got to go on yesterday but had no idea ahead of time so she couldn't tell people.

^Aww yay I'm so glad I caught it! She was fantastic!! smile.gif
