Both shows were really good in all honesty, however, the second show, was quite a bit better in comparison. The understudies/or lack of them in Lucy's case made the second show better. The highlights for me were definately Melanie, Lucy and Jens, they were all wonderful.
Melanie: First thing you realise, is that she is frickin' massive. Like, so tall. But I like it, it's cute. Her voice is really good, and to be honest quite alot better in the second show. Her "Gutes Tun" was perfect in my opinion as well as her verse in "So lang ich dich hab". Really, a great actress, and really high up in my list of top Elphabas.
Lucy: Clearly has a specific dialect, because she pronounces some words such as 'ich' as 'ish' which is really cute and i loved it. Her popular was the funniest I have ever seen, and I have seen some pretty funny Glindas. Her high notes were perfection, and she never failed to get a laugh off the audience. My new favourite Glinda.
Jens: Was wonderful! In all of my 17 shows I'd never seen a Fiyero u/s. I'm glad I did, as of course an ensemble member, his dancing was perfection and the best I've seen out of a Fiyero, he also looked really young, and his acting was spot on. He was 100x better than Mathias who I had seen in the matinee. His acting was so sincere, and it was the first time in a long time that I'd quite liked the character. and HE RIFFED
Pictures to come soon..
