Hello all....My name is Bobby. I am a RN, a scuba instructor, surfer....basically a big kid at heart....in his 40's who has only recently discovered Wicked.

I could write a book about how I discovered Wicked but I am going to try to keep it brief....I said "try." biggrin.gif

Things began early this January. I was in Barnes and Noble and simply caught a passing glance at the Wicked bookcover....the old version. The Wicked Witch seemed to have a very nurturing countenance.

It is funny how little twists, like seeing a bookcover, can lead to something you never in a million years would have imagined. But this did. I had never heard of the book and had yet to learn about the musical. I guess I have been living under a rock for the past 6 years. But I live in NC and we do not get alot of theater exposure where I live.

Well....I bought the book a couple of weeks later. I was so impressed that I emailed all of my friends telling them about the book. One of my diving friends wrote and she asked if it was the book the musical was based on. I had found out about the musical by seeing the version with the show logo on the front and pictures inside. But I thought nothing more about it until she mentioned it. For some reason her comment made me curious, so I looked the show up. pirate.gif The first one I watched was of Idina and Kristin performing Defying Gravity at the 2004 Tonys. I watched more and more videos...and more videos.

Less than 2 months after I noticed a book cover I went to New York and saw 2 performances....The February 24th and 26th performances with Nicole and Alli. Fantastic does not do justice to their performances...nor to the show itself. Are Joe Mantello, Stephen Schwartz, Winnie Holzman and Mark Platt aliens or something. I cannot comprehend something like Wicked to be created my mere mortals bow.gif Let me simply say it was the best thing I have ever seen.

I met Nicole and Alli at the stage door and they were very sweet girls. Alli asked me where I was from....my southern accent. I said N.C. She said..."I Knew It"!!! Her boyfriend is from NC and is an actor. She said he is trying to get rid of his accent. I said...tell him good luck with that one cry.gif

And now...here I am and I am so happy that I found this site and people who feel the same way I do about Wicked....My friends just do not understand where I am coming from duh.gif

The tour is playing in Norfolk May 13th-31st....I bought tickets for 2 performances the day they went on sale. I am going to the Wed May 27th and Thurs May 28th performances....Row B center stage kittydance.gif It isn't AA, BB, CC....It is the very first row of premium seating.....I saw the show on Broadway in rows C and D respectively......Cannot wait!!!!
It is the 2nd nat'l tour group, so Marcie and Helene will be performing.

There will be more shows to come....

Ok....Prediction....or dream....Megan finishes her 9-5 run and when Alli leaves, Megan comes back to her role as Glinda...Since Eden finished in LA also....She will come back to the role of Elphie when Nicole leaves. Maybe Julia Murney. Not to say I am waiting for Nicole and Alli to leave....God no.....I would absolutely love to see them again!!!

Ok...I said I would try to be brief.....Hope I didn't bore you all to tears.....

So glad to have found someone over 40 who loves this musical as much as I do. I thought I was the only one. I was beginning to think I needed therapy!

LOL....I am also glad to learn early on that there are 40 somethings. I tend to think there are alot of Wicked fans in their 40's. I saw a boat load of people after the show that looked my age and had ear to ear grins on their faces. Things like this keep me young at heart.....I am sure you are also.....Therapy....Hell....I have always needed therapy whistling.gif

I know that there must be a lot of fans our age, but they don't tend to be on WoO....I am from Southern Ca and recently went to SF to see the show. Had a great time. Going again in June and possibly May if Teal is back.

I think Wicked is altogether pretty ageless. I am glad your dad loves it.

Where are you/is he going to see it tomorrow....

She's been sick vocally and needed rest. She also had a two week vacation planned at the beginning of April so that is why it has been so long. I think even if she didn't have the vacation planned she would have stayed out. Vicki is standing in and doing a great job! If you haven't had the chance you can go to the SF threads and read some reviews.
