You personally get to cast a show for your viewing pleasure. There are two hats:
*One hat has all the Elphabas that ever played the role
*The other hat has all the Glindas who ever played the role.
You can hand pick one of them, the other will be drawn out of the hat, which character would you hand pick(tell us who), which would you take a chance on?

I would take a chance with Elphaba, and would hand pick Glinda. Does that mean I'm shallow? Probably. I'd pick Megan . . or maybe Katie. No wait, Megan. Crap, Katie, for sure. Eenie, meenie, mynie, mo. Shoot, would be fun to see Kristin, too.

In summary, I would hand pick my Glinda, take a chance on my Elphaba.

EDIT: Through some mystical power, all the actresses would be in their "prime", if that makes a difference to anyone.

No doubt about it I'd take Stephanie J Block...or maybe Nicole Parker..or SJB...oh wait Kerry Ellis! Ugh crud this is hard hahaha

Caissie Levy because I've never seen her and I've always wanted to. I'd take a chance on the Glinda.

I'd probably take a chance on Elphaba, and pick a Glinda, because I think I'm pickier with my Glindas. If I was to pick a Glinda, I'd probably choose Melissa Bell Chait, because she was my first, and she didn't go on much, and I loved her. Or Sarah Jane Everman, who was really awesome. Or Sara Jean Ford, who I never got to see and loved as Christine in The Phantom of the Opera, or Amanda Flynn, because she never went on. Or Jennifer Laura Thompson or Kristin Chenoweth again, because I doubt they'll return... *ponders* I think I'll go with Melissa Bell Chait, my first Glinda.

For the record, if I was to pick an Elphaba and take a chance on Glinda, I'd probably pick Willemijn Verkaik, because she's incredible and I'll probably never see her again. Or Courtney Corey, or Idina, or Caissie, or Brandi...

I already know the two Elphaba's I would hand pick lol...it would be either Kristy Cates or Caissie Levy because I have not seen either in the show and I would love to "turn back the clock" (if you will lol) and get a chance to see at least one of them in person!

As for Glinda, i'd spin the wheel and hope for the best lol

This is a cool idea! I would probably pick Julia Murney, just to be able to appreciate her amazingness, I can hardly remember anything from my first show, and I would be thrilled to experience her when I can actually take in her goddess of Elphaba. I am much less picky with my Glindas, so I'm sure I would be pleased with whatever Glinda I saw.

So far, it appears you all are pickier for your Elphies than your Glindas - 7 to 2 in favor of hand picking an Elphaba. I will keep a tally going.

I would pick the Glinda - Alli and have any Elphie.

I think I'd choose an Elphaba & take a chance on a Glinda, because I've liked all the Glindas I've seen but not all the Elphabas so I guess I must be fussier over Elphabas. As for the Elphaba, I'd be torn between seeing Julia Murney, who I've never seen, or seeing my favourite Elphaba Cassidy Janson one more time. If I did pick a Glinda then it'd be Annalene Beechey because I really regret that I was only able to see her as Glinda once.

I'm really not sure who I'd pick, though. Someone who I haven't seen, and who has little/no chance of realistically returning to a production in the future. Maybe SJB or Shoshana?

And for Glinda, I'd hope either for someone I haven't seen, or Katie Rose Clarke (cause I'm bummed I only got to see her once).

I would pick my Elphaba... Either Caissie Levy, Marcie Dodd, Chelsea Krombach, Nicole Parker or Willemijn Verkaik. (It would take a LONG time to choose) OH! Or Teal Wicks. I SWEAR that's it.

And would take a chance on my Glinda, hoping for Katie Rose Clarke, Kendra Kassebaum, Lucy Durack, Alexa Green, Natalie Daradich, Heather Spore, Lindsay Northen... I'm a big s/b or u/s Glinda fan... but I love basically all of them, so I have a feeling I wouldn't be disappointed.

So, my hand picked Glinda is . . . . Kristin Chenoweth. Reasons: She originated the role, 99.9% sure she will never play the role again, I've never seen her before, but positive I would not be disappointed.

Will take my chances on Elphaba.

I think a 'pair' makes the show, so I would not. Chemistry is the most important thing to me, not a big voice or excellent acting. Those follow. My "picked" performer may not work well with the performer I would take a chance on, and if this were so, I would not enjoy the show.

I pretty much love all the Elphabas I've heard, so I'd be satisfied with any of them. I'm pretty picky with my Glindas. I'd have to say I'd hand pick Kendra, definitely.

I'm more picky about Glindas, so I'd choose a Glinda and take a chance on Elphaba. Who would I choose? Hmm. As much as I'd love to see Kristin again, I'd have to go with Jennifer. I never did see her and I know I would have loved her.

She has some of the most interesting acting choices as Elphaba and one of, if not THE best DG's, in my opinion. I'd give anything to see her.
I guess that means I'd take my chance on any Glinda ( while secretly hoping for Stacie Morgain Lewis ).

I'd pick Dee Roscioli and take a chance with Glinda... even though Dee has pretty amazing chemistry with every Glinda she has been with so I wouldn't have to worry

I'd handpick my Glinda: Katie Rose Clarke, and take a chance on Elphaba.... Hoping for Donna Vivino because I never got to see them perform together and I've heard great things.

I would choose Julia over Willemijn. I have a feeling Julia will do a Dutch production someday down the road and she might still do Oberhausen... but Julia will never return.

This is a really tough choice! I think mostly all of the Glindas were/are great, so I'd pick Caissie Levy as Elphaba. I adore her!
Julia Murney is a very close second though!

I'd definitely hand pick my Glinda...when I saw the show last, I went right to the understudy board because I wanted to MAKE SURE that Katie Rose Clarke was in the show that night. With Elphaba I didn't care because I knew I'd like any of the three women I saw. And I tend to be more picky with Glindas because I want them to be able to hit the soprano notes and also it bothers me when an actress doesn't "act" like I imagine Glinda to act.

I'd pick Kristin Chenoweth since I didn't get to see her...but Megan Hilty and Katie Rose Clarke would be my top choices otherwise.

Because I have nothing better to do with my life, I decided to do that. I gave all the Elphaba's a number 1 - 18 (I took Amanda away to make it the same number as Glinda's) and all the Glinda's a number 1 - 18 then put them through a random number generator. Hand pick Jennifer Laura Thompson. No Elphaba, no matter how much I dislike her, could possibly make me unhappy if I were seeing Jennifer again.

Other top choices for Glinda would be Lucy Scherer and Christina DeCicco, because they're just the tops. Lucy might even be better than Jennifer in the role, but my love for Jennifer overrides objective thought.


I like the sound of that. Not only are they great actresses respectively, but Lisa's sweetness and Stacie's deep(er than your average Glinda) voice might give a very different dynamic.

If I could hand-pick any pair, it would be Lisa Brescia and Katie Rose Clarke. I really think they'd be perfect together. And of course Idina and Kristin, who were perfect together.

Don't forget about Erin and Kristy.
