This is GR8, a Backstage video tour with the Broadway stage manager!

Broadway World

ETA Part 2

^At first I was turned off by the fact that it wasn't someone I recognized (not like Dee or Erin or anything)...but I think it was the most interesting segment about Wicked I've seen. Really looking forward to Part 2!

Oh my Oz! This was taken the day I saw the Wicked Matinee! Can't wait for Part 2 smile.gif

Very cool. I liked seeing this side of the show!
Lots of swings on during that show, lol.

That was actually really interesting. smile.gif

Very interesting...especially about the onstage swings.

That was very interesting. I never knew about the onstage swings.

AHHH! As a stage manager, this is a VERY interesting segment that I'm glad they used WICKED for!

Thanks for posting this! Very interesting. I'd never heard about onstage swings either. So basically, they have roles in the ensemble but what they do on stage isn't as important to the production so their role can go missing for a scene until another swing gets ready?

Part 2 is up and it's even better than the first part!

...I was so hoping for a Part 3 (and 4, 5, 6...and so on), but this was really great to see. I feel like it's the most honest and informative backstage video I've seen, and it's hard to realize how much work goes into putting on that show each day!

I've gotta say, after the music had started and everyone was still hanging out on-stage (including the cameraman), I just wanted to shout at the screen "What are you doing?! Places!!!" But I'm sure they've got the timing figured out, though it's impressive how quickly they can get into character...

Thanks for sharing, really loved it! They should make that into a series, I'd certainly tune in!

Ditto on everything that Ash said....This was a great video and I wish there were more parts that showed backstage throughout the whole show. Thanks so very much for posting!!!

I am in love with this! Especially since I was right on the other side of that curtain! It makes this video that much better

I think that would have been a fantastic idea.

I loved watching these videos! It can be easy to forget how many people are involved, and how much goes on backstage. Though I too agree that I really would have liked to see more of the backstage action during the show.

I think we all just want to watch the show from back stage, ya'no? I know I would!

Hahaha....So true:)

I really like seeing all the work that goes into putting on a show. It's so much more than most people are aware of. It's a shame that the behind-the-scenes people aren't acknowledged and appreciated more. The videos taught me a lot.
EmeraldCity
Does anyone know what scenes the onstage swings are on for?
I know the onstage swings are Robin and Brian Wanee...
GreenGirl717
Thank you for posting those videos! I'm obsessed with them...especially part 2. At the very end when the show was playing on the television behind her, I was like "Wait! Don't let the video end! I want to watch the show!"

I love seeing all the backstage props and everyone getting ready to perform. All the information was very interesting.

That video was great, I was surprised to find it so much more interesting than the other backstage videos they've done before! The onstage swings thing is interesting and explains a lot - I'd been wondering for ages why the Broadway ensemble is bigger than the other productions despite having fewer swings.

Just watched them. Really interesting and I really wanted part 3 & 4 aswell tongue.gif

I thought this was really cool! I'm surprised they're allowed to fool around behind the curtain when the show is so close to starting.

I was thinking the same thing.
