News from Wicked in Oz Twitter and Facebook for those not in the know....

"Wicked in Oz Fans of WICKED across Australia you can see the cast on Carols in the Domain this Saturday night (broadcast from 8.30-11pm on the Seven Network, and simulcast on the MIX radio stations) performing One Short Day and a Christmas carol. Rob Mills and Lucy Durack will also take part in a Christmas medley with other performers at the Carols. Happy Christmas to all!"

Hmmmmm interesting choice of cast for the medley? I would have thought the lead witches but maybe part of Rob's farewell?

Is Rob leaving ?

Jemma isn't "officially" the lead yet, is she? IIRC Rob and Lucy have tended to be the ones doing promo stuff since Amanda's been gone.

And what's this about Rob leaving? When did that happen?

Apologies...I've not been keeping precise tabs on whose been doing what promotion but figured Rob was moving on? Although more my wishful thinking cause would like to see new ppl in roles. Also, I just assumed Jemma would have been partnered with Lucy for something as big as this, seeing as she has been included in any major media promotions. Though I also could have inferred that Jemma will not be promoted...sorry just me thinking out loud and looking for answers between the lines seeing as "officially" it's all so tight lipped! Probably more the case of female/male partners for the medley.

Ha...wonder if the cast will get the crowd to sing along to OSD?

They've made both shows ealier so they can make it. It's a 6:30 show. So it's going to be a draining day for them!!
Show 1: 1:00-3:50
Show 2: 6:30-9:20
Carols: 9:45-11:00

I was disappointed that they just kind of got rid of Jemma after One Short Day.

Came across that way...Standby Elphaba = 2nd class citizen it seems? So much for the "Wicked Philosophy" actually meaning anything to the production or the rest of the cast! I'm absolutely clueless as to why a show that is promoted for the "special relationship" between the two main characters; Elphaba and Glinda would not include the current (even if by default) "lead" Elphaba in all the numbers performed by the cast....Rodney, Penny, James and Rob above her? I get that Rob was advertised to be on Carols for the fangirls...he is a known entity for his Idol status and illicit liaison with , but the general public would not have a clue who Lucy is. Came across as diva like with her thanking Jemma as she left the stage. I would understand if Jemma had to leave for another engagement but highly doubt that was the case!

Awwww I could visualise Jemma singing "It's not easy being green" as she walked off and watched from the sidelines.

Equal rights for all witches...I say!

Edit: If it was the case that Jem was not well, as posted in a another thread, and not able to perform to full capacity, then I apologise for my comments...though all seemed a bit odd!?

Anyone?? Been googling but nothing as yet...would like to watch again cause was too distracted last night with the Pippa news...along with the disbelief of Jemma's dismissal from the carol's stage. :S Interesting though cause a link for this thread comes up in typing "wicked carols domain youtube"

It took me a while to figure out why Lucy looked a bit different, before I realized that she wasn't wearing her usual Wicked wig for the scene. Further reinforces the fact that (regardless of what one thinks of her performance) she's one of the more beautiful Glindas around, I think.

Poor Lucy didn't sound in the best of voice :S

We saw the show on Friday night and thought she sounded croaky. After the show she seemed really tired, signing autographs really quickly and then leaving quietly. I know they had rehearsals that day; Rob was on Sunrise Friday morning looking half asleep. Poor cast! Hope they had a good sleep on Sunday .

Hmmm I really don't like it when Lucy overdoes it. I truly admire the fact that she is almost always on and loves playing Glinda but with the extra rehearsals for Carols...not good! For her voice's sake and also for patrons seeing Wicked...should take a break midway through the show week. I use to cringe at performances where she sounded croaky and screechy...NOT enjoyable when you know how lovely and melodic her voice can be.

I heard alot of the Cast were Sick last week from what people who saw the show Wednesday , Thursday and Friday said .

They said there was quite a few off the cast off and 3 people told me the show on Thursday was a bit flat and that lots
of the Ensmble were off sick on Thursday .
