Do you have a link to that radio interview? I've never heard that before?

Obviously she has a great upper register (given she was in My Fair Lady), but I've never heard tell of her being considered for Glinda - not sure if that's true at all.

The interview's here:
http://www.whatsonstage.com/radio/theatre/...erry+Ellis.htmlBit about her auditioning for Glinda as well is at around 4:30. There's an interesting bit earlier on about her working around having to belt in Wicked, as well, and only belting at certain moments.

Kerry must have liked being Elphaba, because she had mentioned at one point not caring to play Glinda.

^I can't imagine Kerry playing Glinda anyway, I just don't think it'd suit her. Maybe I'd think differently if she'd been cast as Glinda and I'd never seen her Elphaba, but I just can't imagine it.
And another rumour, which I doubt is true and just rumoured by rivaling fans, is the big hate between Kerry and Idina as kerry was meant to open the London production, but was then replaced by Idina for a few months. It goes as far as they wouldn't speak to each other during Chess.

^def. doubt that...Idina said to the producers a few years before the London production was even in the works that if it opens in London that she would love to do it. She has said this a few times in interviews and stuff so I'm sure that she was the first priority (as in they asked her as soon as the London Production was official) and when she agreed to do it they proceeded to cast the rest of the show (and no, i'm not saying that if she did not do it they london production would not have opened, but I'm sure that they wanted to see if she would do it ASAP) so when Kerry was brought in around the rest of the casting she knew that she was going to be the standby till the end of December and then she would receive the role...so I doubt there was any hostility or hate lol

That's incorrect. Idina was not cast before anybody else, and had she been unable to do it, Kerry was to open the show.

^no...pretty sure thats incorrect...true if Idina did not do it Kerry would for sure open it but Idina did say that she would do London if it ever came to be, and since Idina was the original Elphaba...she had first dibs on the role...all of this was said in a interview (magazine I believe) that Idina gave around the time of the opening of London

This is how it was:
The London production was planned and put together.
They set about casting the show.
Kerry Ellis auditioned and "made it" - they said to her that they had approached Idina Menzel to open the production, and that if she agreed, Kerry would be her standby. If she didn't, Kerry would open.
Idina agreed, and Kerry settled for the standby position (only doing so on the proviso that she would take over).
Those are the facts.

I really dont think thats how it went, Kerry was hired knowing she was going to be the standby then become lead after Idina's stint...

Ye-es, but all the way through the process, it was provisional. Idina hadn't confirmed she was coming until later in the game.

hmmm maybe....I could have sworn Idina was one of the first cast
in any matter, the whole Kerry/Idina fight thing is most likely false

Um...the hilarious back and forth argument about Kerry Ellis and Idina Menzel. It just cracks me up how long these two are carrying on a back and forth about it.

And I hope the Kristin/Idina rumors aren't true. I can feel good vibes from them and sometimes I feel awkward vibes...like they're trying to not let something slip. Ah well, even if they are, they're still my favorite duo. <3
