I forgot.........what happens in the first 29 pages? Maybe I kinda skimmed them or something.

You may be right about them not being very important.

Keep reading...it really does get better. I had a hard time getting into SOAW as well.

I dont know that its 'boring' as such, although I am having trouble getting into the story, way more trouble than I did with Wicked!

I have heard/read alot of reviews where people find SOAW a difficult book to get going/into...

I lent SOAW to my friend (PorkyPetunia) and had to encourage Tan to finish it because she found it a bit slow to start as well (PLUS, she cheated and read the last two or three pages of the book because she couldn't help herself.....anyone else guilty of doing that??? Hehehe) .

I didn't have any problems on my first reading of it, but I do want to go through and re-read it again...perhaps my view will change second time around?? I thought the beginning of the book was good simply because I can remember asking myself all of these questions as I was reading it, got me thinking about what could come and what I could expect etc.....

Hopefully I will enjoy it just as much as I did the first time!!!

I'm pretty sure the first 29 pages are neccesery to understand the plot a little.
