Hi every one I just joined this site and I wanted to tell you all about my "Wicked" Trip to New York. I live and go to school in California so getting to go to New Yory was amazing. Last year was my final year in high school and every year the seaniors from the Prforming Arts Acadamy from my high school take a week long trip to New York. I was lucky enough to get a spot on the trip. In New York we went to see A street car named desire, Sweet Charity, and Wicked. We had planed the trip far enough in advance to also have the opertunity to buy tickets to the '05 TONY's. I was so amped. But the thing is we were seeing Wicked and the Tony's on the same day. There was about 30 of us in the group and we showed up to the matnee show of wicked in tuxsido's and evening gowns. The look we got were hilarious because we were surouned by people in jeans. It was also cool to be able to brag about where we were going after the show. But for the people that have seen the show in New York Think about where the Gershwin is then think about where Radio City is, that is a desent walk. We had to do it in ten mins. in heals and grab something to eat on the way. but it was well worth the pain to get to see Idina Menzel in person. True we were in the third balcony but it was still worth it. There are no bad seats in Radio City. Here is a pic of Idina presenting the award that night.

Wow. I'm so jealous! To go to the Tony's!!

When I saw Wicked I wore a cute pink dress and my friend wore a black and green dress (even though our voices are vice versa, but the colors went better with our looks xD). But if you think being dressed up got you funny looks, I've got a story for you!

Ok so y'know in the Lobby to the left theres the big Time Dragon n' stuff? Well we decided we were gunna pose in front of it as so many do (hehe) and so he decided to do "in-character" poses so I lifted my foot and held out my hand liek Galinda does and she just sat therewith this nervous smile it was so fun! People were lookin' at us like, What're those girls doing? Are they ok? Haha it was fun!

Hey! welcome to the forums! hope you got my PM (Private Message)

Hay Snowie86 I got your pm. And thank you. Yah it was a great experience but unforchenatly I did not get any Pics of the event. Cameras were the first thing on the list of things that you couldn't bring. and it wasn't like I could sneek one in because we had to go through medal detectors and if you brought a purse or a small bag they dumped it out to go through it. I didn't get to even come through the front doors we had to go around to the side and come in to the lower lobby. But it was worth it. For all of you that were interested the ticket cost was about $150 and that was for the third balcony. The way we got the tickets was that the tour company that we used just does performing arts pacages and they were offered a block of tickets to sell and we were the only tuor they had in New York that weekend. In our package we had the two musicals, the play, a bus tour of famous places from movies and TV shows, a tour of Radio City (I'll tell you about that latter it was great), and two master classes, one in dance and one in improv. Like the show "Who's Line is it Anyway". And the escort from the tour company that went every where with us, from meals to shows to even taking a small group of us that he liked on a small side trips, was an actor on Brodway so he knew what he was talking about.

I have got a really great story about that night at the TONY's. OK so we went to Wicked right, well the husband of our director has a problem with his legs so he couldn't sit through the whole second act so he took off early well some how he managed to weasle his way into a seat on the floor. Can you beleve that? And to top it all off he gave it up! He was sitting right behind the Spamalot people and he gave his seat up. There is now way I would have been able to get down there.

But if you guys want to hear more about my "Wicked" trip I would be more that happy to tell you. I have got some great little stories. Oh and if you want the name of the tour company that we used it is Pro Musica Tours. They mostly do big groups like we were that are into Brodway and Acting stuff like that. I have to go but I will talk to you latter.

I wish I had a big group to go to new york with, how fun would that be???
Fox517
It was amazing. It was also great to go with a bunch of people my own age. I think that makes a big difference. There was about 30 of us seniors with only about 3 official shaparons. They all worked at the high school I went to. We had the Drama teacher who was the head of the Preforming Arts Acadamy and she was also my english teacher, we had the Dance teacher because half of the people that were going were dancers, and finaly we had the principal of the school who was normaly really uptite and strick but when we got there she was totaly cool she said at breakfast that she didn't care what we did because she wasn't in charge she was just there to have fun. Wh also had other adults but they were all parents that wanted to come along so they tried to stay out of the way.

So I was going to tell you about the tour of radio city. OK every year the group that goes takes a tour of radio city, it is like a tradition for the last day in New York. Well our last day was the day after the TONY's so we all thought we were going to get this abreviated tour. NO way! Whe got to go down into the theater while they were taking down the set from the night before. We got to see all these crews working it was great. Then we got to go upstairs to the Rocket rehursal space and see all the old costumes and at the end of the tour we met a Rocket. She was amazing and answered all of our questions. That is one tour you have to take in New York if you are ever there.

Yea. The Tony people hire random people to go look pretty and fill in seats when actors go one stage or whatever. It's so when the camera goes to the audience there aren't any empty seats. Isn't that an awesome job?! I mean, can you imagine being payed to dress up and sit with actors?

It used to be my life goal to be one of those people. :ha:
