I had heard of the musical and I loved the music and that made me want to read the book. So, I read it, and then a month after that i saw it live.

I found out I was going to see the musical too close to the actual date to read it (plus the book was so expensive!), so I saw the musical and now I'm reading the book.

I read the book first. I didn't realize how different the show and the book were until I got the cast recording. I like it both ways though.

I saw the musical first...my friend that I was going with wouldn't let me read the book first! He had already seen it, and I guess he thought that I should see the musical first. But I did finally get to read the book afterwards, and now I'm working on SoaW

I saw (er well not LIVE) the musical first, and then read the book.
I think as long as you go into one not expecting the other, it's fine.

I read the first part of the book back in 2000, but my mom took it from me for, like, four years because of the, erm, 'adult content' (I was 10...). When I got it back, I read half of it, listened to the OBCR, read the rest, and then saw the show. =P

When you were
five!? Did you get
any of it...!?
I'm not trying to be offensive, don't get me wrong. But most five year olds can hardly read. I'm curious. :-)

I saw the musical on my compy and then read the book. The book was ok but I like Son of a Witch better. And I love the musical way more than I like the book.

Heard the CD, then read the book. Found the whole thing confusing as I couldn't place the songs in the narrative. Then of course found out that the show is completely different. Then saw the show.
Absolutely adore the book (have just started re-reading it). Although I also love the show, I enjoy the immersion in Maguire's Oz possibly more satisfying.
