I'm sure they have crew people waiting behind the closet to quickly get him changed into the Tin Man. And I'm sure its not a very hard outfit to get on.

He doesn't. There's a Boq double that sits behind the big chest the entire scene and when Elphaba wheels the chair behind it, he switches places with the real Boq. And then the part when Boq says "Where am I? What happened?" etc etc, is just a recording and the Boq double mouths it.

There has been quite some discussion on the matter before. I, personally, believe there is a double in the wardrobe and he "lip-synchs" along with the actor playing Boq.

its DEFINITELY a double! hes there for like 5 seconds behind the curtain before elphaba wheels him out with his back facing the audience- they could not change him into a tin man in 5 seconds! :ha: they can do fast costume changes but no tin man in 5 seconds hahaa

yeah it's not like they just slap on the metal costume and dunk his face and head in a bucket of silver dye. That would be pretty awesome though!! :ha:

No, it's Boq I think...I'm not sure about MOTWH...In the Grimmerie, however, it states that there IS A DOUBLE for WWOTE. And this has been brought up before.

The crew can do it really quick!

on the day i saw, something went wrong...the double fell on the floor or something, everyone sitting on the first rows realized it was a double hahaha, but things like that happens

I figured there was a double because I have seen pictures of Logan being painted silver and getting into his costume in his dressing room to prepare for MOTWH. Why would he change out of his costume between WWOTE and MOTWH?

Are you sure it's a recording. It could just be James saying the words live and Jye or Adam or paul just miming them. Are we sure it's a recording?

When i said recording i just meant its deffinatly james that says it (or jye if hes on as boq)

My friend was in NY a few weeks ago and we are friends with the u/s Boq who does the tinman role every night and he said that when he is behind the mirror he stands on a little platform and he is in the tightest space. Must be pretty difficult.

I had been wondering about that. The first time I saw it I was too engulfed to notice but now that I think about it the double thing does make sense. If it's in the Grimmerie then I wouldn't know about it seeing as mine has yet to come in the mail yet. :verymad: I told my Dad that if it doesn't come soon I'll have to start stalking the mail man. :whoa:

It is a double. I had the seat A13 in orch and Jeffrey Kuhn wasn't careful as the scene ended, the whole front left side of the auditorium's orch level could see his feet behind the wardrobe as he walked off the stage behind it.

More proof it's a double:

I was stagedooring on Sunday and an Ensemble member walks out. Somebody asks who he was and he says "Boq the first time he was the Tin Man". I forgot who it was.

Wow, I haven't seen the show before but I know it very well;
I didn't even think about the 'double' for Boq. VERY interesting.
