This thread is for any questions you might have with regards to seating, cast, lottery, or any other general questions pertaining to the Broadway production.

Frequently asked questions will be edited into this post, and if you have any questions not answered here, feel free to reply here instead of starting a new thread biggrin.gif

Now I'm off to root out some things to edit into this post - as I've never been in the same zipcode as the Gershwin, if anyone has any seating stuff to add just let me know biggrin.gif

Before asking, please read the following FAQ and make sure your question hasn't already been answered by the official Wicked website: http://wickedthemusical.com/guest-services.htm

For questions relating to fanmail, check out the mail thread: http://www.witchesofoz.com/wicked_boards/i...?showtopic=8511

For information regarding current cast members (including known vacations), see the Broadway cast and news thread:

Where is the stage door?

As you come out of the main entrance, turn right. Walk across the driveway/parking lot until you reach 51st St. Turn left, and you should see it immediately on your left, marked 'Stage Door' (haha, as opposed to being marked 'Penguin Enclosure'). There are usually barricades set up after the show, which makes it easier to find. Also, you can always ask one of the staff members at the Gershwin once you get there.

Here is a map showing which way to go (credit goes to kgci312):

I'm seeing Wicked on a Wednesday/Saturday matinee. Will all the cast be there?

The cast is expected to be at every performance. You can assume you're seeing the full cast, unless one of the cast members is sick, or they have an absence that was planned ahead of time. There usually are not any 'trends' of absences that certain performers have. Any time we find out about a Broadway cast member's upcoming vacation, it will be posted in this thread: http://www.witchesofoz.com/forums/viewtopic.23983.html

What is the lottery and how does it work?

Essentially the lottery allows a group of lucky people drawn from a hat to get front row seats for $26.25 each.

Here's how it works:

You fill in an entry form to put your name in for the drawing - this is free. Two and half hours before the show opens, the names will be picked from a hat and - if you win - it is $26.25 cash per ticket. You can get either one or two tickets. This takes place in the lobby at the Gershwin theatre. If you win you will need a photo-ID and you cannot put your name in more than once.

Drawings for Wednesday and Saturday matinées will be at 11:30am, and at 4:30pm for a Tuesday evening show. Every other evening show drawing will be at 5:30pm, and on a Sunday at 12:30pm for the 3:00 showing.

Which seats are 'Partial View Seats'?

BB - seats 5 & 6
CC - 6&8, 5&7
DD - 10 & 12, 9& 11
EE - 14 & 16, 13 & 15
A - 15 & 17, 16 & 18
B - 17 & 19, 18 & 20
etc till at least G - possibly up to J.

Anyone have any more info on this? Many thanks to riffing.love for her help with this one biggrin.gif

What is Behind the Emerald Curtain?

Behind the Emerald Curtain (BEC) is a behind-the-scenes tour of Wicked at the Gershwin Theatre. Contrary to popular belief it's not actually a backstage tour; however, you do get to be led by Wicked cast members through a little Wicked "museum," watch a short featurette inside the house, and ask the cast questions. It is held every Saturday at 10AM and lasts about 90 minutes long; you can purchase tickets at the Gershwin theatre's merchandise booth for that week's tour. Thank you very much for this, Because I live in England do you know if I have to put 'USA' somewhere in the address or do you think they are clever enough to realize its to America? So to write to Megan it would be

Megan Hilty
Gershwin Theatre Stage Door
c/o Wicked
242 West 51st Street
New York, NY 10019

:ha:
vimfuego
USA won't hurt wink.gif I think that's what I did. Also, for return postage I just stuck $5 cash in the envelope, too, from the Post Office biggrin.gif
daisy
Should i put stamps on and stick a $5 dollar bill in for return postage?

(Me= planning on writing to Eden)
vimfuego
Well, I asked the people at the Post Office here about international return stickers, etc. and they essentially said that they would still need to go to the Post Office to deal with them - I just assumed that cash would be easier on that front XD British stamps won't work on the way back from America at all smile.gif I initially emailed the website and asked if international return slips would be alright, and they replied that yes they would, but cash worked just fine. It took them a good few months to get back to me, though I didn't write to anyone specifically.

As you come out of the main entrance, veer right across the driveway/parking lot - it's on 51st St. and marked 'Stage Door' (haha, as opposed to being marked 'Penguin Enclosure').

You mean I won't find this guy there.....

The antithesis of a narrowway :ha:

Shar - that's what I meant by putting $5 cash in for return postage. It cost them... 4.88 to ship the playbill I got out, something like that. Putting stamps on the SASE won't work - also, for posting your letter with the SASE inside it you're better to go into the Post Office and get it weighed and get the Airmail stickers and stuff for it, or else it might just spend 8 months coming back to you XD

Anyhow - to get the US cash, you go into the Post Office and tell them you need $5 American, and they'll charge you like, £2.60 for it or something [haha exchange rate is the win for us!] and then just post it along with the letter.

:ha: Admiral! P. N. Guin... last I heard the US Navy had sold him a surplus submarine wink.gif

A man of my own tastes. :ha:
vimfuego
haha, only not a man wink.gif But I AM writing my current essay about Batman... specifically about that movie biggrin.gif Because I'm that cool :ha:
AdmiralShark
Which one, the 60's version, the Keaton Batman or Batman Begins from last season.

I'm doing this online with a moderator in a Wicked thread. Oh boy. :ha:
vimfuego
All but Batman Begins biggrin.gif

And er, back on topic - let's have a question about Broadway... er, um... ???¿??? huh.gif Anyone? Bueller? XD
riffing.love
They might be offended if you send them money in the mail... just a thought.

Why? I mean, that's what I did and I received a response. I just explained in the letter that return postage to the UK is difficult to set up.

NOOO!!! There is a limit on how much you can exchange in our post office, £50 or something ridiculous! I think I'll just put 4 stamps on it to make sure it gets there! Hopefully Megan can find it in her heart to send me it back XD

I just bought three tickets for a show in June, left orchestra row U, the first three seats on the aisle (33,35.37) all the way on the far left. I know they aren't the best, but are they still good? Has anyone sat near there before, can you tell me what it is like?

What about if they're not actually doing the show anymore? I want to write to Idina, but obviously she's not doing Wicked anymore...
Bwayman417

The people at the Gershwin say they'll forward it to her, but I'm not sure if you should 100% trust them on that (it may take a lot longer at any rate). I'd wait until a direct address surfaces, like if she joins a new show (but that may not be for a while).
Does anyone have a picture of the stage taken from Partial View seats on the RIGHT side of the Gershwin?? Please post them here! THANKS!!!

kristin actual accepts fanmail through her agent....if you go to her official fan site.... http://www.kristinchenowethfanclub.org and look around its got her managers address you can mail all fanmail too smile.gif
ENJOY

and for those who read this...no idina does not have her managers mailing address open to public so that is NOT a place you can mail things to idina.....my suggestion with her is to wait around until she goes to a new show or does something at a theater....the gershwin most likely wont foward anymore mail to her....its been a long time....
Chistery23
what about sho?
(Chistery23)
what about sho?

as of right now there is no specific mailing address to send her anything....i would say to keep checking back to her official fansite(when it comes back) and it will probably state whether or not shes recieving it at this time....sorry i couldnt be more help
Chistery23
that's okay

does anyone know if they'll send it to her if we send it to the gershwin

OR (i highly doubt this one), write to megan and ask her to forward it personally!
Chistery23
a couple questions

1) i'm going to see wicked soon, and i would like some autographed pics...would it be okay to HAND meg a letter at the stage door requesting them from her and eden? idk..

2) if i HAND megan a letter that i want to send to sho, do you think she'd send it for me?

I have a question... We have tickets for Wicked this summer and our seats are Orchestra Row N seats 114, 116 and 118. Are those good seats?
Thanx.
riffing.love
Yes, they're good seats. They're about 18 rows back on the right hand side of the stage, but center section. They're not together tho... cause the center section got 101, 102, 103 etc... so u have random people in between you?

(wingedmonkey)
How far in advance must I buy tickets for the Broadway production of Wicked?

depends on the best tickets you want....and how many you want...you could probably find a single ticket for tomorrow if you went on ticket master or to the box office...but if you want a 2 or more youd probably have to look at least a month or so in advance smile.gif
Thanks trulyGRACEful!!! Great pic! Any comments about partial view on the right?

Also, does ANYONE ELSE have any similar pictures, especially from ROW D on the right (Partial View)?? THANKS!!!
HalfBloodPrince
Hey everyone!!

Does anyone have the pictures that were on wickedthemusical.com under Backstage Photos? They were the shots taken from the stage that showed the audience... one was of a girl doing the lights and another was of 2 guys fixing the bubble machine... THANKS!!!
Are these two pictures from Partial View or is Partial View more to the right?

Thanks!!!
Ravvana
I'm not sure if this is the place to ask. But could somebody that's gotten a response to mail from Eden let me know how long it took?

I sent something five weeks ago, but I don't know if she just hasn't gotten to it yet or if it's lost in the mail. And I'd hate to be a brat and resend it if she's working towards it :?
wingedmonkey
Can somone please tell me if mid-mezz are good seats? Is there a picture of the stage taken from them I can see?
wingedmonkey
Anyone??

Lots of questions I would love answering..

Did Idina come out of the stage door after matinees when she was over there?

When I sent my letter to Megan, I didn't go to the post office, I just put 4 1st class stamps on it (I live in England) and posted it.. do you think it would have got there? I put a return address on the back of the envolope and I sent it on April 4th so it should be back here by now if it was wrong.. right?
greenified32
What size are the pictures that Eden and Megan send out?
