Ok. I'm kinda confused.
Liir and Trism meet and they become friends. They end up getting into a fight, and then they "spend the night w/ eachother." Meaning they rock the boat. So then Liir has to leave Trism to go to the meeting of the birds.
I sincerly wished that, reading this novel, Liir would not have a realationship w/ that girl who becomes pregnant, and expand his homosexual relationship w/ Trism. It's the ultimate Oz love story, besides Fiyero and Elphaba. They are # 1. Woot!

To me, it doesn't seem to be a very stable relationship but more of a fly-by-night affair (literally, as it turns out). Despite their intentions I don't think either of them could handle a relationship of that magnitude. Not like I'd mind them having one, though!!!

Possible Spoilers Ahead-

I hope both Trism and Candle die! They completely ruined the book. Basically all of Liir's intentions turn out as a failure, save for helping Princess Nastoya, and on top of all of that, both Trism and Candle leave Liir. The only thing left to comfort the reader is Elphaba's grandaughter. I would just love to see Glinda's reaction to that!

I think Liir doesn't fully know who he is, so he's trying to experiment and all with Trism... trying to find his... um... orientation? ok.
But you get the picture. He has Lust feelings for Candle AND for Trism... but idk... I would have to re read the book to be sure to tell anything other than that...

I think they should have a friendly relationship....nothing else.
