I would just like to know why ppl like megan so much. she's seems like a good person, and she's ok, but i really dont think she's that amazing. i really dont like kendra either. i love JLT :mrgreen: , chenow (of course!), kate reinders, and emily rozek, but i wasnt satisfied w/ megan's performance at all. :-( she just seemed to make glinda too bitchy, and her voice was way too low for the part i think.

she sings high, but the tone of her voice is very low. yes i saw her live. she just copied everything JLT did, except it wasn't as funny. she also wasnt that bubbly.

when did you see her? are you sure you saw Megan...that doesn't sound like her at all!

December. ive heard recordings of her too, and it was definatly her! for some reason the u/s's always seem better too me. but everyone has an opinion!

It's great that you have your own opinion but, I think Hilty rocks. She is the best Glinda! (next to Cheno) She's supposed to be bubbly and hyper... It's Galinda were talking about. && she was not copying JLT. She made the role her own...kthanxbye.

The thing that I like about Megan (and grant you, I have only "seen" her) is that she appears (and this is from reports to) that she comes to the part every night with the same energy that she did her first night as the regular Glinda. That is very hard for any actress and she seems to do it every night.

She does seem to still be enjoying her role and not just going through the paces.

I like the personality she puts into the character. And she is really funny, yet really touching. She may not be the best technically (of course JLT and Cheno are better technically), but she is still my favorite. She adds something to the part for me.

Megan purposely uses a lower voice in Act 2 to show how the character ages and matures... she has said this in an interview.. and she is quite remarkable. She has energy every night , hardly ever misses a show, is nice to her fans and extremely talented, funny, and i think the PERFECT Glinda- now go see her again!!! and tell me she doesnt fit this role to a tee- maybe you were sleeping the day you saw her :ha:

People will have different opinions. Just because they don't like one of you favorite performers is no reason to get in a tizzy over. It's just their different tastes.

You don't like Megan? I actually didn't like her the first time I saw a her do "popular" on youtube but now I LOVE her and she's my favorite Glinda next to Cheno.

well i think anyone who has seen her recently or in the past few months have def. gotten a treat if they saw her. i saw her in dec. 2004 and then last month and wow has she grown with the role. her voice is superb in all registers, connects to the part, very funny, and is just a sweet person. she is AMAZING and i have heard many glindas and next to cheno, i put her the best. i know anyone can have opinions and this ones mine... MEGAN IS AMAZING!!! (okay im done :ha: )

I HEAR YA!! People here are WAY nicer than the Broadway.com people!! I need to rant about this for a moment haha... My first bway show (as most all of you know by now :ha:) was Sho's last, and I fell in love with Sho, Wicked, and theatre in general at that very show. I didn't know about this place or any other message board at all, but as soon as I got home from New York, I knew I needed a place to talk about Wicked. I found broadwayworld first, so I posted there about the INCREDIBLE experience I had at Sho's last...and people there pretty much ripped me apart. They told me that the reason I liked Sho was because I hadn't seen any other theatre, they told me that my first Broadway experience was 'glorified,' and worst of all, told me to "be careful posting about Wicked." So much for being welcoming to the broadway community! I haven't been back to those boards since...thank GOODNESS I found you all!! Rant over.

And now, back to the point of this thread! :ha:

I LOVE Megan Hilty! I personally think she was the best Glinda, but I have only seen Sarah Jane Everman and Megan Hilty live, so those are really the only two I can legitimately compare. I personally don't care for Cheno's voice, but I think she probably had a fantastic personality on stage. I thought Megan was extremely charismatic and real during her performance. I loved her emotion and power in her singing.

I know nothing AT ALL :ha: about voice tone or range or acting ability (boy, I sound incredibly qualified to voice my opinion!) but I do know what talent excites me and makes me happy. Megan Hilty did that for me. She and Sho introduced me to Wicked, and kept me coming back for more!!

Megan is the funnies Glinda I've seen yet. She took me on a backstage tour of her dressing room and I talked to her on Wicked Day. She differs her character voices w/ the high in the first act and a bit lower in the second. I really don't like the fact that people are making threads about what to don't like about one certian person. Since you didn't like her, I'll tell you this: She broke Broadway records. The 4th Wicked Broadway cast broke the Broadway record. And to top it all off, this is her first show on Broadway. GO MEGAN!! :rock: :rock:
