Speaking of Broadway and movies, casting for 'Wicked' -- or at least, casting ideas -- is brewing. I hear BRITNEY SPEARS has expressed interest in starring as the green witch. "She is obsessed with the musical," a source says. "She listens to the CD all the time in her car. She bought 10 copies of the CD at a mall to give as gifts." HILARY DUFF is another young songbird who may be in the running. She's been talked about for the role of Glinda, the Good Witch. The show's rep says that no one has been approached yet because the movie will not be made for quite some time.
And speaking of Wicked, "Saturday Night Live" alum, the hilarious ANA GASTEYER, may land in a production. She auditioned to replace Tony winner IDINA MENZEL on Broadway, but a deal was never made. Gasteyer's rep and a show rep confirm she was up for the part. But don't cancel her out just yet. The show's rep says, "There's always the future."

Way old, Ana's been in Chicago as Elphaba for months now! There's no word on a movie, either (Schwartz himself has been quoted as saying no plans I believe), but remember those same rumours were running rampant about RENT. And didn't happen. Also, referring to Hillary Duff as a songbird is a little misleading - most birds don't have soundtechnicians tuning them in after they've sung

I would not watch it if Hilary Duff did it, she is the worst person in the whole WORLD!!!! I can't stand even looking at her...and BRITNEY?!?!?!
Anne Hathaway and Emmy Rossum would be good, but Emmy has all ready been Christine, she couldn't do another musical movie.
